Marcos 4
1 De nuevo se puso a enseñar a la orilla del mar. Se reunió con él una gran multitud, de modo que entró en una barca en el mar y se sentó. Toda la multitud estaba en tierra firme junto al mar.
Once again He began to teach beside the sea. And a large crowd was gathered to Him, so that He got into the boat and sat down, out on the water, while the whole crowd was on the land, at the water's edge.
2 Les enseñaba muchas cosas en parábolas, y les decía en su enseñanza:
Then He began teaching them many things by parables and said to them in His teaching:
3 “¡Escuchad! He aquí que el agricultor salió a sembrar.
“Listen! Yes, a sower went out to sow.
4 Mientras sembraba, una parte de la semilla cayó en el camino, y vinieron los pájaros y la devoraron.
And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.
5 Otras cayeron en el suelo rocoso, donde tenía poca tierra, y enseguida brotaron, porque no tenían profundidad de tierra.
Some fell on the rocky area where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up quickly because it had no depth of soil.
6 Cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y como no tenía raíz, se secó.
But upon the sun's rising it was scorched, and because it had no root it was withered up.
7 Otra cayó entre los espinos, y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto.
And some fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and smothered it, and it yielded no fruit.
8 Otras cayeron en buena tierra y dieron fruto, creciendo y aumentando. Algunos produjeron treinta veces, otros sesenta veces y otros cien veces más”.
And some fell into the good ground, and coming up and growing it started to produce fruit—yielding thirty times as much, sixty times as much, even a hundred times as much.”
9 Dijo: “El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga”.
Then He said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
10 Cuando se quedó solo, los que estaban a su alrededor con los doce le preguntaron por las parábolas.
But when He was alone, those who were around Him, with the twelve, asked Him about the parable.
11 Él les dijo: “A vosotros se os ha dado el misterio del Reino de Dios, pero a los que están fuera, todas las cosas se hacen en parábolas,
So He said to them: “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, everything is being given in parables,
12 para que “viendo vean y no perciban, y oyendo, no entiendan, no sea que se vuelvan y se les perdonen los pecados.”
so that: ‘Seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; so that they should not return and their sins be forgiven them.’”
13 Les dijo: “¿No entendéis esta parábola? ¿Cómo vais a entender todas las parábolas?
Then He said to them: “Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?
14 El agricultor siembra la palabra.
The sower sows the Word.
15 Los que están junto al camino son aquellos en los que se siembra la palabra; y cuando han oído, enseguida viene Satanás y les quita la palabra que se ha sembrado en ellos.
These are the ones where the Word is sown along the path: as soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts.
16 Estos, de la misma manera, son los que están sembrados en los pedregales, los cuales, cuando han oído la palabra, inmediatamente la reciben con alegría.
Similarly, these are the ones sown on the rocky area: as soon as they hear the Word they receive it with joy,
17 No tienen raíz en sí mismos, sino que duran poco. Cuando surge la opresión o la persecución a causa de la palabra, enseguida tropiezan.
but since they have no root in themselves they are temporary—when oppression or persecution comes because of the Word, they quickly fall away.
18 Otros son los que están sembrados entre las espinas. Estos son los que han oído la palabra,
And these are the ones sown among the thorns: they hear the Word,
19 y los afanes de este siglo, y el engaño de las riquezas, y los deseos de otras cosas que entran, ahogan la palabra, y se hace infructuosa. (aiōn g165)
but the worries of this age, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the undue desires for other things come in and smother the Word, and it becomes unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
20 Los que fueron sembrados en buena tierra son los que oyen la palabra, la aceptan y dan fruto, unos treinta veces, otros sesenta y otros cien.”
And these are the ones sown on the good ground: such people hear the Word, welcome it and produce fruit—thirty times as much, sixty times as much, even a hundred times as much.”
21 Les dijo: “¿Acaso se trae una lámpara para ponerla debajo de un cesto o de una cama? ¿No se pone sobre un candelero?
Also He said to them: “The lamp is not brought to be put under a box or under a bed, is it? Is it not to be placed on its stand?
22 Porque no hay nada oculto si no es para que se conozca, ni se ha hecho nada secreto si no es para que salga a la luz.
For there is no ‘hidden’ that may not be exposed, nor has anything been concealed but that it should come to light.
23 El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga”.
If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”
24 Les dijo: “Prestad atención a lo que oís. Con cualquier medida que midáis, se os medirá; y se os dará más a los que oís.
Then He said to them: “Pay attention to what you hear. With the same measure you use it will be measured to you in return; and to you who hear, more will be added.
25 Porque al que tiene, se le dará más; y al que no tiene, se le quitará hasta lo que tiene.”
Because whoever has, to him more will be given; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”
26 Dijo “El Reino de Dios es como si un hombre echara la semilla en la tierra,
He also said: “The Kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter the seed on the ground
27 y durmiera y se levantara de noche y de día, y la semilla brotara y creciera, aunque no supiera cómo.
and should sleep and get up night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.
28 Porque la tierra da fruto por sí misma: primero la hoja, luego la espiga, después el grano completo en la espiga.
All by itself the earth produces fruit: first a shoot, then a head of grain, then full grain in the head.
29 Pero cuando el fruto está maduro, enseguida se mete la hoz, porque ha llegado la cosecha.”
But as soon as the grain is ready, he sends in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
30 Dijo: “¿Cómo compararemos el Reino de Dios? ¿O con qué parábola lo ilustraremos?
Again He said: “To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God, or with what sort of parable should we illustrate it?
31 Es como un grano de mostaza, que, cuando se siembra en la tierra, aunque es menor que todas las semillas que hay en la tierra,
It is like a mustard seed, that when it is sown on the ground is the smallest of all such seeds,
32 sin embargo, cuando se siembra, crece y se hace más grande que todas las hierbas, y echa grandes ramas, de modo que las aves del cielo pueden alojarse bajo su sombra.”
yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden herbs and produces big branches, so that the birds of the air are able to rest in its shade.”
33 Con muchas parábolas de este tipo les hablaba la palabra, según podían oírla.
It was with many such parables that He was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it.
34 Sin parábola no les hablaba, sino que en privado a sus propios discípulos les explicaba todo.
But apart from a parable He did not speak to them; privately, however, He would explain everything to His disciples.
35 Aquel día, al atardecer, les dijo: “Pasemos a la otra orilla”.
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”
36 Dejando a la multitud, lo llevaron con ellos, tal como estaba, en la barca. También iban con él otras barcas pequeñas.
Since He was already in the boat, they took off with Him, leaving the crowd behind (other little boats were also with Him).
37 Se levantó una gran tormenta de viento, y las olas golpeaban la barca, tanto que ésta ya estaba llena.
Well a strong cyclonic wind came up, such that the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling up.
38 Él mismo estaba en la popa, dormido sobre el cojín; y le despertaron y le preguntaron: “Maestro, ¿no te importa que nos estemos muriendo?”
But He was on the poop deck, sleeping on the cushion; so they awakened Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don't you care that we are perishing?”
39 Se despertó y reprendió al viento, y dijo al mar: “¡Paz! Quédate quieto!” El viento cesó y se produjo una gran calma.
Then, having been awakened, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Shut up; be muzzled!” So the wind stopped and there was a complete calm.
40 Les dijo: “¿Por qué tenéis tanto miedo? ¿Cómo es que no tenéis fe?”
And He said to them: “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”
41 Se asustaron mucho y se dijeron unos a otros: “¿Quién es, pues, éste, que hasta el viento y el mar le obedecen?”
They were terrified and started saying to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!?”
