Psaumes 20

1 Au chef des chantres. Psaume de David. Que l’Eternel t’exauce au jour de détresse, que le nom du Dieu de Jacob te protège!

To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. Yahweh answer thee, in the day of distress, The Name of the God of Jacob give thee safety;

2 Qu’il t’envoie son secours du Sanctuaire, que de Sion il soit ton appui!

Send thy help out of the sanctuary, and, out of Zion, sustain thee;

3 Qu’il se souvienne de toutes tes offrandes, et fasse bon accueil à tes holocaustes!

Remember every present of thine, and, thine ascending-sacrifice, esteem. (Selah)

4 Puisse-t-il t’accorder ce que ton cœur désire et accomplir tous tes desseins!

Give thee according to thy heart, and, all thy purposes, fulfil.

5 Nous allons célébrer ta victoire, arborer comme un drapeau le nom de notre Dieu. Que l’Eternel comble tous tes vœux!

We will shout aloud in thy salvation, and, in the Name of our God, shall we become great, Yahweh fulfil all thy petitions.

6 A cette heure je sais que l’Eternel soutient son oint, qu’il lui répond des cieux, siège de sa sainteté, par l’aide puissante de sa droite.

Now, do I know that Yahweh, hath saved, his Anointed One, —He answereth him out of his holy heavens, by the mighty saving deeds of his own right hand.

7 Que les uns se fient aux chars, les autres aux chevaux, nous nous réclamons, nous, du nom de l’Eternel, notre Dieu.

These, by chariots, and, those, by horses, but, we, by the Name of Yahweh our God, will prevail.

8 Ceux-là plient et tombent, et nous demeurons debout, pleins de force.

They, have bowed down and fallen, but, we, have arisen, and stand upright.

9 Eternel, viens à notre secours! Que le Roi nous exauce le jour où nous l’invoquons!

Yahweh, hath saved the king. Answer us, then, on the day when we call.
