< Proverbs 13 >

1 A wise son heeds his father’s discipline, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
Mwana wanzeru amamvera malangizo a abambo ake, koma mwana wonyoza samamvetsera chidzudzulo.
2 From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the desire of the faithless is violence.
Munthu amapeza zinthu zabwino chifukwa cha mawu ake, koma anthu osakhulupirika amalakalaka zachiwawa basi.
3 He who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.
Iye amene amagwira pakamwa pake amateteza moyo wake, koma amene amayankhula zopanda pake adzawonongeka.
4 The slacker craves yet has nothing, but the soul of the diligent is fully satisfied.
Munthu waulesi amakhumbira zinthu koma sapeza kanthu, koma munthu wakhama adzalemera.
5 The righteous hate falsehood, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
Munthu wolungama amadana ndi zabodza, koma zochita za munthu woyipa zimanyansa ndiponso zimachititsa manyazi.
6 Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness undermines the sinner.
Chilungamo chimateteza munthu wangwiro, koma tchimo limagwetsa munthu wochimwa.
7 One pretends to be rich, but has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
Wina amadziyesa kuti ndi wolemera chonsecho alibe kanthu kalikonse; munthu wina amaoneka ngati wosauka chonsecho ali ndi chuma chambiri.
8 Riches may ransom a man’s life, but a poor man hears no threat.
Chuma cha munthu wolemera chitha kuwombola moyo wake, koma munthu wosauka amamva chidzudzulo.
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
Nyale ya munthu wolungama ndi yokondweretsa, koma nyale ya munthu woyipa imazimitsidwa.
10 Arrogance leads only to strife, but wisdom is with the well-advised.
Chipongwe chosamalabadirako za anthu ena chimadzetsa mikangano, koma womva malangizo a anzawo ndiwo ali ndi nzeru.
11 Dishonest wealth will dwindle, but what is earned through hard work will be multiplied.
Chuma chochipeza mofulumira chidzatha pangʼonopangʼono koma chuma chosonkhanitsidwa pangʼonopangʼono chidzachulukirachulukira.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Chinthu chochiyembekezera chikalephereka chimalefula mtima, koma chinthu chochilakalaka chikachitikadi chimakhala ngati mtengo wamoyo.
13 He who despises instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.
Amene amanyoza malangizo adzawonongeka, koma amene amasamala lamulo amalandira mphotho.
14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning one from the snares of death.

15 Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the faithless is difficult.

16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool displays his folly.

17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings healing.
Wamthenga woyipa amagwetsa anthu mʼmavuto, koma nthumwi yodalirika imabweretsa mtendere.
18 Poverty and shame come to him who ignores discipline, but whoever heeds correction is honored.
Wokana mwambo adzasauka ndi kunyozedwa, koma wosamala chidzudzulo adzalemekezedwa.
19 Desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but turning from evil is detestable to fools.
Chinthu chochilakalaka chikachitika chimasangalatsa mtima, koma zitsiru zimadana ndi kuleka zoyipa.
20 He who walks with the wise will become wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.
Woyenda ndi anthu anzeru nayenso adzakhala wanzeru; koma woyenda ndi zitsiru adzapwetekeka.
21 Disaster pursues sinners, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.
Choyipa chitsata mwini, koma wochita zolungama adzalandira mphotho yabwino.
22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is passed to the righteous.
Munthu wabwino amasiyira zidzukulu zake cholowa, koma chuma cha munthu wochimwa amachilandira ndi olungama.
23 Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor, but without justice it is swept away.
Tsala la munthu wosauka limalola chakudya chambiri, koma anthu opanda chilungamo amachilanda.
24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
Amene sakwapula mwana wake, ndiye kuti amamuda, koma wokonda mwana wake sazengereza kumulanga.
25 A righteous man eats to his heart’s content, but the stomach of the wicked is empty.
Munthu wolungama amakhala ndi zakudya zoti adye nʼkukhuta, koma mʼmimba mwa munthu woyipa mumakhala pululu ndi njala.
