< Matthew 17 >

1 Lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ mẹ́fà, Jesu mú Peteru, Jakọbu àti Johanu arákùnrin rẹ̀, ó mú wọn lọ sí orí òkè gíga kan tí ó dádúró.
After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.
2 Níbẹ̀ ara rẹ̀ yí padà níwájú wọn. Ojú rẹ̀ sì ràn bí oòrùn, aṣọ rẹ̀ sì funfun bí ìmọ́lẹ̀.
He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.
3 Lójijì, Mose àti Elijah fi ara hàn, wọ́n sì ń bá Jesu sọ̀rọ̀.
And look, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.
4 Peteru sọ fún Jesu pé, “Olúwa, jẹ́ kí a kúkú máa gbé níhìn-ín yìí. Bí ìwọ bá fẹ́, èmi yóò pa àgọ́ mẹ́ta, ọ̀kan fún ọ, ọ̀kan fún Mose, àti ọ̀kan fún Elijah.”
Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let us make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
5 Bí Peteru ti sọ̀rọ̀ tán, àwọsánmọ̀ dídán síji bò wọ́n, láti inú rẹ̀ ohùn kan wí pé, “Èyí ni àyànfẹ́ ọmọ mi, ẹni ti inú mi dùn sí gidigidi. Ẹ máa gbọ́ tirẹ̀!”
While he was still speaking, look, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And look, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him."
6 Bí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn ti gbọ́ èyí, wọ́n dojúbolẹ̀. Ẹ̀rù sì bà wọ́n gidigidi.
When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.
7 Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu sì tọ̀ wọ́n wá. Ó fi ọwọ́ kàn wọ́n, ó wí pé, “Ẹ dìde, ẹ má ṣe bẹ̀rù.”
Jesus came and touched them and said, "Get up, and do not be afraid."
8 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì gbé ojú wọn sókè, tí wọ́n sì wò ó, Jesu nìkan ni wọn rí.
And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus alone.
9 Bí wọ́n sì ti ń sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti orí òkè, Jesu pàṣẹ fún wọn pé, “Ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ sọ fún ẹnikẹ́ni ohun tí ẹ rí, títí Ọmọ Ènìyàn yóò fi jí dìde kúrò nínú òkú.”
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Do not tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."
10 Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ́ pé, “Kí ni ó fà á tí àwọn olùkọ́ òfin fi ń wí pé, Elijah ní láti kọ́ padà wá?”
The disciples asked him, saying, "Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"
11 Jesu sì dáhùn pé, “Dájúdájú òtítọ́ ni wọ́n ń sọ. Elijah wá láti fi gbogbo nǹkan sí ipò.
And he answered and said, "Elijah indeed comes, and will restore all things,
12 Ṣùgbọ́n èmi wí fún yín lóòótọ́; Elijah ti dé. Ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò mọ̀ ọ́n, ọ̀pọ̀ tilẹ̀ hu ìwà búburú sí i. Bákan náà, Ọmọ Ènìyàn náà yóò jìyà lọ́wọ́ wọn pẹ̀lú.”
but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them."
13 Nígbà náà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mọ̀ pé ó n sọ̀rọ̀ nípa Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi fún wọn ni.
Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist.
14 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì dé ọ̀dọ̀ ìjọ ènìyàn, ọkùnrin kan tọ̀ Jesu wá, ó sì wólẹ̀ níwájú rẹ̀, ó wí pé,
When they came to the crowd, a man came to him, kneeling down to him, saying,
15 “Olúwa, ṣàánú fún ọmọ mi, nítorí tí ó ní wárápá. Ó sì ń joró gidigidi, nígbà púpọ̀ ni ó máa ń ṣubú sínú iná tàbí sínú omi.
"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.
16 Mo sì ti mú un tọ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò lè wò ó sàn.”
So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him."
17 Jesu sì dáhùn wí pé, “A! Ẹ̀yìn alágídí ọkàn àti aláìgbàgbọ́ ènìyàn, èmi yóò ti bá yín gbé pẹ́ tó? Èmi ó sì ti fi ara dà á fún yín tó? Ẹ mú un wá sọ́dọ̀ mi níhìn-ín yìí.”
Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation. How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me."
18 Nígbà náà ni Jesu bá ẹ̀mí èṣù tí ó ń bẹ nínú ọmọkùnrin náà wí, ó sì fi í sílẹ̀, à mú ọmọkùnrin náà láradá láti ìgbà náà lọ.
Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.
19 Lẹ́yìn èyí, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì bi Jesu níkọ̀kọ̀ pé, “Èéṣe tí àwa kò lè lé ẹ̀mí èṣù náà jáde?”
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, "Why weren't we able to cast it out?"
20 Jesu sọ fún wọn pé, “Nítorí ìgbàgbọ́ yín kéré. Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yin, bí ẹ bá ni ìgbàgbọ́, bí ó tilẹ̀ kéré bí hóró musitadi, ẹ̀yin lè wí fún òkè yìí pé, ‘Sípò kúrò níhìn-ín yìí,’ òun yóò sì ṣí ipò. Kò sì ní sí ohun tí kò ní í ṣe é ṣe fún yín.”
So he said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
22 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì ti wà ní Galili, Jesu sọ fún wọn pé, “Láìpẹ́ yìí a ó fi Ọmọ Ènìyàn lé àwọn ènìyàn lọ́wọ́.
While they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,
23 Wọn yóò sì pa á, ní ọjọ́ kẹta lẹ́yìn èyí, yóò sì jí dìde sí ìyè.” Ọkàn àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì kún fún ìbànújẹ́ gidigidi.
and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up." They were exceedingly sorry.
24 Nígbà tí Jesu àti àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ sì dé Kapernaumu, àwọn agbowó òde tí ń gba owó idẹ méjì tó jẹ́ owó tẹmpili tọ Peteru wá wọ́n sì bí i pé, “Ǹjẹ́ olùkọ́ yín ń san owó tẹmpili?”
When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins came to Peter, and said, "Does not your teacher pay the didrachma?"
25 Peteru sì dáhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, ó ń san.” Nígbà tí Peteru wọ ilé láti bá Jesu sọ̀rọ̀ nípa rẹ̀, Jesu ni ó kọ́kọ́ sọ̀rọ̀, Jesu bí i pé, “Kí ni ìwọ rò, Simoni? Ǹjẹ́ àwọn ọba ayé ń gba owó orí lọ́wọ́ àwọn ọmọ wọn tàbí lọ́wọ́ àwọn àlejò?”
He said, "Yes." When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?"
26 Peteru dáhùn pé, “Lọ́wọ́ àwọn àlejò ni.” Jesu sì tún wí pé, “Èyí jẹ́ wí pé àwọn ọmọ onílẹ̀ kì í san owó òde?
And when he said, "From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Therefore the children are exempt.
27 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀, àwa kò fẹ́ mú wọn bínú. Nítorí náà, ẹ lọ sí etí Òkun, kí ẹ sì sọ ìwọ̀ sí omi. Ẹ mú ẹja àkọ́kọ́ tí ẹ kọ́ fà sókè, ẹ ya ẹnu rẹ̀, ẹ̀yin yóò sì rí owó idẹ kan níbẹ̀, ki ẹ fi fún wọn fún owó orí tèmi àti tirẹ̀.”
But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. Take that, and give it to them for me and you."
