Якова 1
1 Яков, слуга Божий і Господа Ісуса Христа, дванайцяти родам, що розсіяні: Витайте.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes who are in the dispersion: Greetings!
2 Усяку радість майте, браттє моє, коли впадаєте в різні спокуси,
Count [it] all joy, my brothers, when you may fall into manifold temptations,
3 знаючи, що доказ вашої віри робить терпіннє;
knowing that the proof of your faith works endurance,
4 терпіннє ж нехай мав звершене діло, щоб ви були звершені і повні, нї в чому не маючи недостатку.
and let the endurance have a perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 Коли ж у кого з вас недостав премудрости, нехай просить у Бога, котрий дає всім щедро та й не осоромлює, то й дасть ся йому.
And if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, who is giving to all generously, and not reproaching, and it will be given to him;
6 Нехай же просить вірою, нічого не сумнячись; хто бо сумнить ся, той подобен филї морській, котру вітер жене та й розбивав.
but let him ask in faith, doubting nothing, for he who is doubting has been like a wave of the sea, driven by wind and tossed;
7 Нехай бо не думав такий чоловік, що прийме що від Бога.
for do not let that man suppose that he will receive anything from the LORD—
8 Чоловік двоєдушний не статечний у всїх дорогах своїх.
a soul-split man [is] unstable in all his ways.
9 Нехай же хвалить ся брат смиренний висотою своєю,
And let the brother who is low rejoice in his exaltation,
10 а багатий смиреннєм своїм; бо він, як травяний цьвіт, перейде.
but the rich in his becoming low, because he will pass away as a flower of grass;
11 Зійшло бо сонце із спекою, і висушило траву, і цьвіт її опав, і краса лиця її зникла; так і багатий в дорогах своїх зівяне.
for the sun rose with the burning heat, and withered the grass, and the flower of it fell, and the beauty of its appearance perished, so also the rich in his way will fade away!
12 Блажен чоловік, що витерпить спокусу; тим що, будучи вірний, прийме вінець життя, що обіцяв Бог тим, що люблять Його.
Blessed [is] the man who endures temptation, because, becoming approved, he will receive the garland of life, which the LORD promised to those loving Him.
13 Нїхто ж у спокусї нехай не каже: Що Бог мене спокутує; Бог бо не спокушуєть ся лихим, і не спокушує сам нікого.
Let no one who is being tempted say, “I am tempted from God,” for God is not tempted by evils, and Himself tempts no one,
14 Кожен же спокушуєть ся, надившись і лестившись похоттю своєю.
but each one is tempted, being led away and enticed by his own desires;
15 Потім похоть, зачавши, роджає гріх, гріх же зроблений роджає смерть.
afterward the desire having conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin having been perfected, brings forth death.
16 Не заблуджуйтесь, браттє моє любе.
Do not be led astray, my beloved brothers.
17 Усяке добре даяннє і всякий звершений дар з висоти сходить, од Отця сьвітла, в котрого нема переміни анї тїни зміни.
Every good giving, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation, or shadow of turning;
18 Схотів бо, то й породив нас словом правди, щоб бути нам якимсь почином творива Його.
having willed [it], He begot us with a word of truth, for our being a certain first-fruit of His creatures.
19 Тим же, браттє моє любе, нехай і буде всякий чоловік скорий на слуханнє, і нескорий на слова, нескорий на гнїв.
So then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger,
20 Гнїв бо чоловіка правди Божої не чинить.
for the wrath of a man does not work the righteousness of God;
21 Задля того відкинувши всяку погань і останок зла, прийміть у лагідности посаджене слово, що може спасти душі ваші.
for this reason, having put aside all filthiness and superabundance of evil, receive the implanted word in meekness, that is able to save your souls;
22 Будьте ж чинителями слова, а не тілько слухателями, обманюючи себе самих.
and become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves,
23 Бо, коли хто слухатель слова, а не чинитель, той подобен чоловікові, що дивить ся на природне лице своє в зеркалї.
because, if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, this one has been like to a man viewing his natural face in a mirror,
24 Подививсь бо на себе, та й одійшов, та зараз і забув, який він був.
for he viewed himself, and has gone away, and immediately he forgot what kind of [man] he was;
25 Хто ж дивить ся в звершений закон свободи, та й пробував в ньому, той не слухатель забуваючий, а чинитель діла; такий буде щасливий у дїланню своїм.
but he who looked into [the] perfect law—that of liberty, and continued there, not becoming a forgetful hearer, but a doer of work—this one will be blessed in his doing.
26 Коли хто думав, що він вірен між вами, не уздаючи язика свого, а обманюючи серце своє, у того марна віра.
If anyone thinks to be religious among you, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, the religion of this one [is] vain;
27 Ото бо віра чиста і неопоганена перед Богом і Отцем, щоб одвідувати сиріт і вдовиць у горю їх, і держати себе неопоганеним од сьвіта.
religion pure and undefiled with the God and Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation—to keep himself unspotted from the world.
