< Luka 2 >

1 Saa ɛberɛ no mu no, Kaesare Augusto a na ɔyɛ Roma ɔhempɔn hyɛɛ mmara bi sɛ wɔnkan ne ɔman no mu nnipa nyinaa.
Now it happened in those days, that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole empire should be enrolled.
2 Saa nnipakan yi ne deɛ ɛdi ɛkan a wɔkanee wɔ Kirenio a ɔyɛ amrado wɔ Siria no berɛ so.
This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
3 Obiara kɔɔ ne kurom na wɔtwerɛɛ ne din.
All went to enroll themselves, everyone to his own city.
4 Esiane sɛ na Yosef yɛ Ɔhene Dawid busuani no enti, na ɛsɛ sɛ ɔfiri Galilea kuro a wɔfrɛ no Nasaret mu kɔ Betlehem a ɛwɔ Yudea.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;
5 Ɔne ne yere Maria a saa ɛberɛ no na ɔnyem no na wɔkɔeɛ.
to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him, being pregnant.
6 Wɔwɔ Betlehem no, awoɔ kaa Maria,
It happened, while they were there, that the day had come that she should give birth.
7 na ɔwoo ɔbarima. Wɔde kuntu kyekyeree abɔfra no ho de no too mmoa adididaka mu, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔannya baabi ansoɛ wɔ ahɔhobea hɔ.
And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him with pieces of cloth, and placed him in a feeding trough, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 Anadwo no ara, na nnwanhwɛfoɔ bi nso wɔ ɛserɛ no so baabi rewɛn wɔn nnwan.
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
9 Mpofirim, ɔsoro ɔbɔfoɔ baa wɔn nkyɛn, na Onyankopɔn animuonyam hyerɛn twaa wɔn ho hyiaeɛ, na ɛmaa wɔn ho dwirii wɔn.
And look, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 Ɔsoro ɔbɔfoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monnsuro, mede anigyesɛm rebrɛ mo ne amansan nyinaa.
The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.
11 Ɛnnɛ wɔawo Agyenkwa a ɔne Kristo Awurade no ama mo wɔ Dawid kurom.
For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ, the Lord.
12 Yei ne nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a mobɛhunu. Mobɛhunu akɔkoaa a wɔde kuntu akyekyere ne ho a ɔda mmoa adididaka mu.”
This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough."
13 Amonom hɔ ara, abɔfokuo bɛkaa ɔbɔfoɔ a ɔwɔ hɔ no ho na wɔtoo ayɛyie dwom sɛ,
Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,
14 “Animuonyam nka Ɔsorosoro Onyankopɔn, na asomdwoeɛ mmra wɔn a wɔsɔ nʼani wɔ asase so no so.”
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward humankind."
15 Ɛberɛ a abɔfokuo yi sane kɔɔ ɔsoro no, nnwanhwɛfoɔ no keka kyerɛkyerɛɛ wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Momma yɛnkɔ Betlehem hɔ na yɛnkɔhwɛ saa anwanwasɛm a asi wɔ hɔ a Awurade ada no adi akyerɛ yɛn yi.”
And it happened that when the angels went away from them into the sky, the shepherds said one to another, "Let us go to Bethlehem, now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us."
16 Wɔde ahoɔherɛ kɔɔ Betlehem kɔhunuu Maria ne Yosef. Na wɔhunuu abɔfra no nso sɛ ɔda mmoa adididaka mu.
They came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough.
17 Nnwanhwɛfoɔ no hunuu abɔfra no no, wɔkaa ne ho asɛm a ɔsoro abɔfoɔ no bɛka kyerɛɛ wɔn no nyinaa kyerɛɛ nnipa a wɔahyia hɔ no.
When they saw it, they made known the saying which was spoken to them about this child.
18 Wɔn a wɔtee nnwanhwɛfoɔ yi asɛm no nyinaa ho dwirii wɔn.
All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds.
19 Nanso Maria deɛ, ɔde saa nsɛm a ɔteeɛ no nyinaa siee ne tirim dwenee ho.
But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
20 Nnwanhwɛfoɔ no kɔhunuu deɛ abɔfoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ wɔn no, wɔde anigyeɛ sane wɔn akyi kɔɔ deɛ wɔn nnwan no wɔ hɔ. Wɔrekɔ no nyinaa, na wɔreyi Onyankopɔn ayɛ.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
21 Abɔfra no dii nnawɔtwe no, wɔtoo ne din Yesu sɛdeɛ ɔsoro ɔbɔfoɔ no kyerɛeɛ ansa na wɔrenyinsɛn no no. Ɛda no ara na wɔtwaa no twetia.
When eight days were fulfilled to circumcise him, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
22 Ɛberɛ duruu sɛ Yosef ne Maria kɔdwira wɔn ho sɛdeɛ Mose mmara kyerɛ no, wɔde abɔfra no kɔɔ Yerusalem sɛ wɔde no rekɔhyɛ Onyankopɔn nsa.
When the days of their purification according to the Law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord
23 Sɛdeɛ Mose mmara no kyerɛ no, “Sɛ ɔbaa wo nʼabakan na ɔyɛ ɔbarima a, wɔde no ma Awurade.”
(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb will be called holy to the Lord"),
24 Wɔkɔɔ asɔredan no mu hɔ nso kɔbɔɔ afɔdeɛ, sɛdeɛ mmara no kyerɛ no: wɔde nturukuku mmienu anaa mmorɔnoma mma mmienu na wɔde bɔ afɔdeɛ no.
and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the Law of the Lord, "A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons."
25 Ɛda no na ɔbarima bi a wɔfrɛ no Simeon a ɔte Yerusalem no nso wɔ asɔredan mu hɔ bi. Na Simeon yɛ onipa tenenee, ɔhotefoɔ a Honhom Kronkron ahyɛ no ma a na daa ɔhwɛ Agyenkwa no kwan.
And look, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.
26 Ɔno na na Honhom Kronkron ayi akyerɛ no sɛ ɔrenwu kɔsi sɛ ɔbɛhunu Agyenkwa a Awurade asra no no.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
27 Enti ɛberɛ a Maria ne Yosef duruu asɔredan no mu sɛ wɔde abɔfra no rekɔma Awurade sɛdeɛ mmara no te no,
He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the requirement of the Law,
28 wɔkɔtoo Simeon nso wɔ hɔ, na Simeon gyee abɔfra no hyɛɛ Awurade animuonyam sɛ,
then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 “Awurade, afei ma wʼakoa nwu asomdwoeɛ mu

30 ɛfiri sɛ, mʼani ahunu Agyenkwa

33 Nsɛm a wɔka faa Yesu ho no yɛɛ nʼagya Yosef ne ne maame Maria nwanwa.
And his father and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him,
and Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, "Look, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.
35 Na ɔbɛma dodoɔ no ara tirim ahintasɛm ada adi; na wo Maria deɛ, wobɛsi apinie wɔ wo mu.”
Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."
36 Saa ɛberɛ no, na Fanuel babaa odiyifoɔ Ana a ɔfiri Aser abusua mu no nso wɔ hɔ bi. Na Ana yɛ obi a wanyini. Ɔwaree ne mmabaawaberɛ mu ne ne kunu tenaeɛ mfeɛ nson pɛ na ne kunu no wuiɛ.
There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
37 Ne kunu no wuo akyi no, ɔyɛɛ kuna kɔsii sɛ ɔdii mfeɛ aduɔwɔtwe ɛnan, na ɛberɛ biara nso na ɔwɔ asɔredan mu de mmuadadie ne mpaeɛbɔ som Onyankopɔn.
and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who did not depart from the temple, worshipping with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 Saa ɛberɛ no ara mu, ɔno nso bɛgyinaa hɔ bi yii Onyankopɔn ayɛ saa ara. Ɔkaa abɔfra no ho asɛm kyerɛɛ wɔn a wɔretwɛn ɔgye a ɔbɛgye Yerusalem no nyinaa.
Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
39 Wɔwiee amanneɛ sɛdeɛ Awurade mmara kyerɛ no, wɔsane kɔɔ wɔn kurom Nasaret a ɛwɔ Galilea,
When they had accomplished all things that were according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.
40 Abɔfra no nyinii, na nyansa hyɛɛ no ma, na na Onyankopɔn adom nso wɔ ne so.
The child was growing, and was becoming strong, being filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.
41 Afe biara na Yesu awofoɔ kɔ Yerusalem kɔdi Twam Afahyɛ no.
His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
42 Sɛdeɛ na wɔn amanneɛ te no, Yesu dii mfeɛ dumienu no, nʼawofoɔ de no kɔɔ Yerusalem kɔdii Twam Afahyɛ no.

and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it,

but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day's journey, and they looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 Na wɔanhunu no no, wɔsane baa Yerusalem bɛhwehwɛɛ no.
When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.
46 Ne nnansa akyi no, wɔkɔhunuu no Yerusalem asɔredan mu sɛ ɔte akyerɛkyerɛfoɔ bi a wɔahyia mu ntam na ɔretie wɔn na ɔrebisabisa wɔn nsɛm.
It happened after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.
47 Yesu nyansa ne ne nimdeɛ a ɛdaa adi wɔ ne mmuaeɛ nyinaa mu no, yɛɛ nnipa a na wɔretie no no nyinaa nwanwa.
All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us this way? Look, your father and I were anxiously looking for you."
49 Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Adɛn enti na mohwehwɛ me? Monnim sɛ ɛyɛ mʼasɛdeɛ sɛ metena mʼagya efie som no anaa?”
He said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be doing the works of my Father?"
50 Nanso, nʼawofoɔ no ante deɛ ɔkaeɛ no ase.
They did not understand the saying which he spoke to them.
51 Yesu ne nʼawofoɔ kɔɔ Nasaret no, ɔyɛɛ ɔsetie maa wɔn. Ne maame de nsɛm a ɛsisiiɛ no nyinaa siee ne tirim.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Yesu nyinii nyansa mu ne honam fam, na ɔnyaa Onyankopɔn ne nnipa anim adom.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people.
