நீதிமொழிகள் 7
1 என் மகனே, என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கைக்கொள், என் கட்டளைகளை உனக்குள்ளே பெருஞ்செல்வமாக வைத்துக்கொள்.
My son, observe my sayings, and my commandments must thou treasure up with thee.
2 என் கட்டளைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படி, அப்பொழுது நீ வாழ்வடைவாய்; என் போதனைகளை உன் கண்மணியைப்போல் காத்துக்கொள்.
Observe my commandments, and live: and my teaching as the apple of thy eyes.
3 அவற்றை உன் விரல்களில் நினைவூட்டலாகக் கட்டி, இருதயத்தில் எழுதி வைத்துக்கொள்.
Bind them around thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
4 ஞானத்தை நோக்கி, “நீ என் சகோதரி” என்றும், மெய்யறிவை, “நீ என் நெருங்கிய உறவினர்” என்றும் சொல்.
Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
5 அவை உன்னை விபசாரியிடமிருந்தும், மயக்கும் வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசும் ஒழுக்கங்கெட்ட பெண்ணிடமிருந்தும் உன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
That they may keep thee from an adulterous woman, from an alien that useth flattering speeches.
6 நான் என் வீட்டின் ஜன்னல் அருகே நின்று திரை வழியேப் பார்த்தேன்.
For through the window of my house, through my lattice did I [once] look out,
7 அப்பொழுது அறிவில்லாத இளைஞர்கள் மத்தியில் புத்தியற்ற ஒரு வாலிபனைக் கண்டேன்.
And I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a lad void of sense;
8 அவன் அந்த விபசாரி இருக்கும் தெருமுனைக்குச் சென்று, அவளுடைய வீட்டின் வழியே நடந்துபோனான்.
He was passing through the market-place near her corner; and he stepped along on the way to her house,
9 அது பொழுதுபட்டு மாலைமங்கி இருள் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டிருந்த வேளையாயிருந்தது.
In the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the depth of the night and when it was dark:
10 அப்பொழுது ஒரு பெண் வேசியின் உடை உடுத்தியவளாய், தந்திரமான எண்ணத்தோடு அவனைச் சந்திக்க வெளியே வந்தாள்.
And, behold, a woman came to meet him with the attire of a harlot, and obdurate of heart.
11 அவள் வாயாடியும் அடக்கமில்லாதவளுமாய் இருந்தாள்; அவள் கால்கள் ஒருபோதும் வீட்டில் தங்குவதில்லை.
(She is noisy and ungovernable; in her house her feet never rest;
12 அவள் ஒருமுறை வீதியிலும் பின்பு பொது இடங்களிலும் நிற்பாள், மூலையோரங்களில் பதுங்கிக் காத்திருப்பாள்.
At one time she is in the street, at another in the open places, and near every corner doth she lurk, )
13 அவள் அவனைக் கட்டிப்பிடித்து முத்தமிட்டு, நாணமில்லாத முகத்துடனே அவனிடம்:
And she caught hold of him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face she said to him,
14 “நான் என் வீட்டில் சமாதான பலிகளைச் செலுத்தி, இன்று என் நேர்த்திக் கடன்களை நிறைவேற்றினேன்.
“I had bound myself to bring peace-offerings; this day have I paid my vows:
15 அதினால் நான் உம்மைச் சந்திக்க வெளியே வந்தேன்; நான் உம்மைத் தேடினேன், இப்பொழுது கண்டுகொண்டேன்.
Therefore am I come forth to meet thee, to seek thy presence diligently, and I have found thee.
16 நான் எகிப்தின் பலவர்ண மென்பட்டுத் துணியை விரித்து எனது கட்டிலை அழகுபடுத்தியிருக்கிறேன்.
With tapestry coverings have I decked my bed, with embroidered coverlids of the fine linen of Egypt.
17 நான் வெள்ளைப் போளத்தினாலும், சந்தனத்தினாலும், இலவங்கப் பட்டையாலும் என் படுக்கைக்கு நறுமணமூட்டியிருக்கிறேன்.
I have sprinkled my couch with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 வாரும், நாம் காலைவரை ஆழ்ந்த காதலில் மூழ்கியிருப்போம்; நாம் இன்பத்தில் மகிழ்ந்திருப்போம்!
Come, let us indulge in love until the morning: let us delight ourselves with dalliances.
19 எனது கணவன் வீட்டில் இல்லை; அவன் நீண்டதூரப் பிரயாணமாய் போய்விட்டான்.
For the man is not in his house, he is gone on a journey a great way off:
20 அவன் தனது பையில் பணத்தை நிரப்பிக்கொண்டு போனான், அவன் பெளர்ணமி நாள்வரை வீட்டிற்கு வரமாட்டான்” என்று சொன்னாள்.
The bag of money hath he taken with him, by the day of the new-moon festival only will he come home.”
21 இவ்வாறு அவள் தனது வசப்படுத்தும் வார்த்தையினால் அவனை மயக்கி, அவள் தன் மிருதுவான பேச்சினால் அவனை தவறிழைக்கத் தூண்டினாள்.
She seduced him by the abundance of her reasoning: by the flattery of her lips she misguided him.
22 உடனேயே அவன் அவளுக்குப் பின்னே போனான்; வெட்டுவதற்காகக் கொண்டுபோகப்படும் மாட்டைப்போலவும் வலையில் விழப்போகும் மானைப்போலவும்
He followed after her suddenly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, and as in fetters to his correction, the fool:
23 தானாய் கண்ணிக்குள் பிடிபடும் பறவையைப் போலவும் அவன் போனான்; அது அம்பினால் தனது நெஞ்சைப் பிளந்து உயிரையே வாங்கிவிடும் என அறியாமல் போனான்.
Till an arrow cleaveth through his liver; as a bird hasteneth into the snare, and knoweth not that it is done to take his life.
24 ஆகையால் என் பிள்ளைகளே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்; நான் சொல்வதைக் கவனித்துக் கேளுங்கள்.
And now, O children, hearken unto me, and listen to the sayings of my mouth.
25 உங்கள் இருதயத்தை அவளுடைய வழிகளின் பக்கம் திரும்ப விடவேண்டாம்; அவளுடைய பாதைகளின் பக்கம் இழுப்புண்டு போகாதீர்கள்.
Let not thy heart turn aside to her ways, do not go astray on her paths.
26 அவளால் வீழ்த்தப்பட்டுப் பலியானவர்கள் அநேகர்; அவளால் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்கள் வலிமையான கூட்டம்.
For many deadly wounded hath she caused to fall: yea, very numerous are all those slain by her.
