Psaltaren 52

1 En undervisning Davids, till att föresjunga; Då Doeg den Edomeen kom, och bebådade Saul, och sade: David är uti Ahimelechs hus kommen. Hvad högmodas du, tyrann, att du kan skada göra? efter dock Guds godhet ännu dagliga varar.

“For the leader of the music. A psalm of David, when Doeg, the Edomite, came and told Saul, and said to him, David is come to the house of Abimelech.” Why gloriest thou in mischief, thou man of violence? The goodness of God yet continueth daily.

2 Din tunga far efter skada, och skär med lögn, såsom en skarp rakoknif.

Thy tongue deviseth mischief, Like a sharp razor, thou contriver of deceit!

3 Du talar heldre ondt än godt, och heldre falskt än rätt. (Sela)

Thou lovest evil more than good, And to lie more than to speak truth. (Pause)

4 Du talar gerna allt det som till förderf tjenar, med falska tungo.

Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue!

5 Derföre skall ock Gud med allo förderfva dig, och sönderkrossa dig, och utu hyddone rycka dig, och utu de lefvandes lande utrota dig. (Sela)

Thee also shall God utterly destroy! o He shall seize thee, and tear thee from thy dwelling-place, And uproot thee from the land of the living. (Pause)

6 Och de rättfärdige skola det se, och frukta sig, och skola le åt honom.

The righteous shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him.

7 Si, det är den man, som icke höll Gud för sina tröst; utan förlät sig uppå sin stora rikedom, och var mägtig till att göra skada.

“Behold the man that made not God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And placed his strength in his wickedness!”

8 Men jag skall blifva såsom ett grönt; oliveträ i Guds hus; jag förlåter mig på Guds godhet alltid och förutan ända.

But I shall be like a green olive-tree in the house of God; I will trust in the goodness of God for ever and ever.

9 Jag tackar dig evinnerliga, ty du kan väl görat, och vill förbida ditt Namn, ty dine helige hafva der fröjd utinnan.

I will praise thee for ever for what thou hast done; I will trust in thy name, because it is good, Before the eyes of thy godly ones!
