Zaburi 124

1 Wimbo wa kwenda juu. Wa Daudi. Kama Bwana asingalikuwa upande wetu; Israeli na aseme sasa:

“A song of the degrees by David.” If it had not been the Lord who was for us, so should Israel say;

2 kama Bwana asingalikuwa upande wetu, wakati watu walipotushambulia,

If it had not been the Lord who was for us, when men rose up against us:

3 wakati hasira yao ilipowaka dhidi yetu, wangalitumeza tungali hai,

Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

4 mafuriko yangalitugharikisha, maji mengi yangalitufunika,

Then would the waters have overwhelmed us, the stream would have passed over our soul;

5 maji yaendayo kasi yangalituchukua.

Then would have passed over our soul the presumptuous waters.

6 Bwana asifiwe, yeye ambaye hakuruhusu turaruliwe kwa meno yao.

Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us up as a prey to their teeth.

7 Tumeponyoka kama ndege kutoka mtego wa mwindaji; mtego umevunjika, nasi tukaokoka.

Our soul is escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Msaada wetu ni katika jina la Bwana, Muumba wa mbingu na dunia.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
