Salmos 49
1 Presten atención a esto, todos ustedes pueblos; deja que tus oídos escuchen esto, todos ustedes que viven en el mundo.
“To the chief musician, by the sons of Korach, a psalm.” Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the perishable world:
2 Alto y bajo juntos, los pobres y aquellos que tienen riqueza.
Both the sons of the low and the sons of the high, rich and needy, altogether.
3 De mi boca saldrán palabras de sabiduría; y de los pensamientos de mi corazón sabiduría.
My mouth shall speak wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
4 Inclinaré al proverbio mi oído; y diré mi secreto al son del arpa.
I will incline my ear to a parable: I will open with the harp my riddle.
5 ¿Por qué tengo miedo en los días del mal, cuando la maldad de los que maquinan contra mi. me rodeare?
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my oppressors encompasseth me?—
6 Incluso de aquellos cuya confianza está en sus riquezas, y cuyos corazones se enaltecen por sus riquezas.
Of those that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves of the multitude of their riches?
7 En verdad, nadie puede recuperar su alma por un precio, ni darle a Dios el pago por sí mismo;
No one can in any wise redeem his brother, nor can he give to God redemption money for himself;
8 (Porque toma un gran precio mantener su alma alejada de la muerte, y el hombre no puede dársela).
For the ransom of their soul is too costly, and it is omitted for ever.
9 Para que él tenga vida eterna, y nunca vea el inframundo.
And should he still live for ever? not see the pit?
10 Porque él ve que los sabios llegan a su fin, y las personas necias e insensatas vienen a la destrucción juntas, dejando que su riqueza vaya a otros.
For he must see that wise men die, that together the fool and the brutish person perish and leave to others their wealth.
11 El lugar de los muertos es su casa para siempre, y su lugar de reposo por todas las generaciones; aquellos que vienen después de ellos dan sus nombres a sus tierras.
Their inward thought is, that their houses are to be for ever, their dwelling-places, from generation to generation; they call them by their own names in [various] countries.
12 Pero el hombre, como los animales, no continúa para siempre; él llega a su fin como las bestias.
Nevertheless man in [his] splendor endureth not: he is like the beasts [that] perish.
13 Este es el camino de los necios; su plata es para aquellos que vienen después de ellos, y sus hijos obtienen el placer de su oro. (Selah)
This is their way, their folly: yet their posterity will take pleasure in their sayings. (Selah)
14 La muerte les dará su alimento como ovejas; el inframundo es su destino y descenderán a él; cuando llegue la mañana los buenos triunfarán sobre ellos; su carne es alimento para gusanos; su forma se desperdicia; el inframundo es su lugar de descanso para siempre. (Sheol h7585)
Like flocks are they thrust into the nether world; death will feed them; but the upright shall have dominion over them in that morning, and their form wasteth away in the nether world, [taken away] from their own dwelling. (Sheol h7585)
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the nether world; for he will take me away. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 No tengas miedo cuando la riqueza viene a un hombre, y la gloria de su casa se incrementa;
Be not thou afraid when a man becometh rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17 Porque a su muerte, él no se llevará nada; su gloria no bajará después de él.
For when he dieth he can take nothing away; his glory will not descend after him.
18 Aunque él pueda tener orgullo en su alma en su tiempo de vida, y los hombres le den alabanza cuando prospera.
For though he bless his soul during his life, and men praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself:
19 Él irá a la generación de sus padres; él no verá la luz otra vez.
She shall go to the generation of his fathers, unto eternity will these never see light.
20 El hombre sin entendimiento. como los animales, no continúa para siempre; él llega a su fin como las bestias.
Man, though in splendor, who understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish. °
