San Lucas 2
1 Ahora sucedió en aquellos días que salió una orden de César Augusto de empadronar a todo el mundo.
Now it happened in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole inhabited world should be enrolled.
2 Este primer censo, se hizo cuando Cirenio era el gobernante de Siria.
This first census took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.
3 Y todos los hombres fueron contados, todos en su ciudad.
So everyone was traveling, each to his own town, to enroll himself.
4 Y subió José de Galilea, de la ciudad de Nazaret, a Judea, a Belén, la ciudad de David, porque era de la casa y familia de David,
So Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of Natsareth town, into Judea to the city of David, that is called Bethlehem, because he was of David's ‘house’, that is, line of descent,
5 Para ser puesto en la lista con María, su futura esposa, que estaba a punto de convertirse en madre.
to enroll himself with Mary, the woman who had been betrothed to him, who was pregnant.
6 Y mientras estaban allí, llegó el momento de que ella diera a luz.
So it happened that when they got there the days for her to give birth were completed;
7 Y ella tuvo su primer hijo; y, lo envolvió en lino, lo puso a descansar en el lugar donde el ganado tenía su comida, porque no había lugar para ellos en el mesón.
and she gave birth to her firstborn Son, wrapped Him in pieces of cloth and laid Him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the lodging place.
8 Y en la misma región había pastores de ovejas en los campos, cuidando sus rebaños de noche.
Now there were shepherds in that same area, staying out in the field and keeping the nightly watches over their flock.
9 Y vino a ellos el ángel del Señor, y la gloria del Señor los rodeaba; y el temor vino sobre ellos.
When wow, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 Y el ángel dijo: No teman; porque en verdad, les doy buenas nuevas de gran gozo que serán para todo el pueblo:
The angel said to them: “Do not be afraid because listen, I am announcing the most joyful news to you, which will be to all the people!
11 Porque en este día, en la ciudad de David, ha nacido un Salvador, que es CRISTO el Señor.
You see, today, in David's city, a Savior was born to you, who is Lord Christ!
12 Y esta es la señal para ustedes: verán a un niño pequeño envuelto en lino, en el lugar donde el ganado tiene su alimento.
And this is the sign to you: you will find a Baby wrapped in pieces of cloth, lying in a manger.”
13 Y repentinamente apareció con el ángel un gran ejército de ángeles del cielo, alabando a Dios y diciendo:
Suddenly a multitude of the heavenly army was with the angel praising God and saying,
14 Gloria a Dios en las alturas, y en la tierra paz, buena voluntad para con los hombres!
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward mankind!”
15 Y cuando los ángeles se habían ido de ellos al cielo, los pastores de las ovejas se decían unos a otros: Vamos ahora a Belén, y veamos esto que ha sucedido, y que el Señor nos ha anunciado.
So when the angels went away from them into the sky the men, the shepherds, said to one another, “Hey, let's go to Bethlehem and see this event that has taken place, that the Lord made known to us!”
16 Y vinieron pronto, y vieron a María, a José, y al niño en el lugar donde el ganado comía.
So they went in a hurry and located both Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in the manger.
17 Y cuando lo vieron, les dieron cuenta de lo que se les había dicho acerca del niño.
And having seen they spread an exact account of the saying that had been spoken to them concerning this Child.
18 Y todos aquellos quienes oyeron estaban maravillados de lo que decían los pastores de las ovejas.
All who heard marveled at the things told them by the shepherds.
19 Pero María guardaba todas estas cosas en su corazón, y pensaba mucho en ellas.
As for Mary, she treasured all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.
20 Entonces los pastores de las ovejas volvieron, glorificando y alabando a Dios por todas las cosas que habían oído y que habían visto, como se les había dicho.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God over all that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
21 Y cuando, después de ocho días, llegó el momento de su circuncisión, se llamaba Jesús, el nombre que el ángel le había dado antes de su nacimiento.
When eight days were completed so as to circumcise Him, His name was indeed called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
22 Y cuando los días necesarios de purificación se cumplieron, por la ley de Moisés habían llegado a su fin, lo llevaron a Jerusalén para consagrarlo al Señor.
And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord
23 Como dice la ley del Señor, el primer hijo varón de cada madre será santo para el Señor,
(just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens a womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),
24 Y hacer una ofrenda, como está ordenada en la ley del Señor, un par de tórtolas o dos pichones de paloma.
and to offer a sacrifice according to what was specified in the Lord's Law, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons”.
25 Y había en Jerusalén un hombre que se llamaba Simeón; y él era un hombre justo, temeroso a Dios y esperando la consolación de Israel; y el Espíritu Santo estaba sobre él.
Well now, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, expectantly waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and Holy Spirit was upon him.
26 Y tuvo conocimiento, por el Espíritu Santo, que no vería la muerte hasta que viera al Cristo del Señor.
(It had been revealed to him repeatedly by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he saw the Lord's Messiah.)
27 Y lleno del Espíritu, vino al Templo; y cuando el padre y la madre entraron con el niño Jesús, para hacer con él lo que estaba ordenado por la ley,
So by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought the Child Jesus in, to do concerning Him according to the custom of the law,
28 Entonces él lo tomó en sus brazos y alabó a Dios y le dijo:
Simeon took Him into his arms and blessed God and said:
29 Ahora deja que tu siervo vaya en paz, Oh Señor, conforme a tu palabra;
“Sovereign, now You can release your slave in peace, according to Your word,
30 Porque mis ojos han visto tu salvación,
because my eyes have seen Your salvation,
31 Que tú has preparado delante de todas las naciones;
which You have prepared before the face of all peoples:
32 Una luz de revelación a los gentiles, y la gloria de tu pueblo Israel.
a light for revelation to Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
33 Y su padre y su madre estaban maravillados de lo que se decía de él.
And Joseph and His mother were marveling at the things being spoken concerning Him.
34 Y Simeón les dio su bendición y dijo a María, su madre: Mira, este niño será la causa de la caída y de levantamiento de un gran número de personas en Israel, y para señal que será contradicha;
Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother: “Listen, this One is appointed to bring about the fall and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that is spoken against,
35 Y una espada atravesará tu corazón; para que los pensamientos secretos de los hombres salgan a la luz.
so that the reasonings of many hearts may be revealed (furthermore, a sword will pass through your own soul also).”
36 Y estaba allí, Ana, una mujer profetisa, hija de Fanuel, de la familia de Aser, ella era muy anciana, y después de siete años de casarse.
Also there was a prophetess Anna, a daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher—she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity
37 Había sido viuda durante ochenta y cuatro años; ella estaba en el Templo en todo momento, adorando con oraciones y yendo sin comida, día y noche.
and having been a widow for about eighty-four years—who did not depart from the temple, serving God with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 Ana presentándose en la misma hora, ella alababa a Dios, hablándole de él niño Jesús a todos los que esperaban la liberación de Jerusalén.
Well she, having come up at that very moment, started praising the Lord, and kept on speaking of Him to all those in Jerusalem who were looking for redemption.
39 Y cuando hubieron hecho todas las cosas que estaban ordenadas por la ley del Señor, volvieron a Galilea, a Nazaret, la ciudad donde vivían.
When they had completed everything, according to the law of the Lord, they went back to Galilee, to their own town, Natsareth.
40 Y el niño crecía y se fortalecía lleno de sabiduría, y la gracia de Dios estaba sobre él.
And the Child kept growing and being strengthened in spirit, being filled with wisdom; yes, the grace of God was upon Him.
41 Y cada año su padre y su madre iban a Jerusalén en la fiesta de la Pascua.
Now every year His parents would go to Jerusalem to the feast of the Passover;
42 Y cuando tenía doce años, subieron a Jerusalén como era la costumbre, de la fiesta;
so when He was twelve years old they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.
43 Y cuando los días de la fiesta llegaron a su fin y regresaban, el niño Jesús se quedó en Jerusalén, pero José y su madre no lo sabían.
When they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but Joseph and His mother did not know it.
44 Y creyendo que él estaba con algunos de ellos, se fueron. caminaron por un día; y después de buscarlo entre sus parientes y amigos,
Supposing Him to be in the caravan, they went a day's journey and then started looking for Him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 Y viendo que él no estaba allí, volvieron a Jerusalén, para buscarlo.
Not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem seeking Him.
46 Y después de tres días se encontraron con él en el Templo, sentado entre los sabios, escuchando sus palabras y formulando preguntas.
So it happened that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
47 Y a todos los que oían, estaban maravillados de su conocimiento y de las respuestas que dio.
(All who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.)
48 Cuando lo vieron, se sorprendieron, y su madre le dijo: Hijo, ¿por qué nos has hecho esto? mira, tu padre y yo te hemos estado buscando con angustia.
So upon seeing Him they were amazed, and His mother said to Him: “Son, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in distress.”
49 Y él les dijo: ¿Por qué me buscaban? ¿No te quedó claro que mi lugar correcto estaba en la casa de mi Padre.
So He said to them: “Why were you seeking me? Didn't you know that I must be about my Father's concerns?”
50 Mas ellos no entendieron las palabras que les hablo.
But they did not understand the statement that He made to them.
51 Y descendió con ellos, y vino a Nazaret; e hizo lo que se le ordenó: y su madre guardó todas estas palabras en su corazón.
Then He went down with them and came to Natsareth, and continued subordinating Himself to them; His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 Y Jesús crecía en sabiduría y en estatura, y en gracia delante de Dios y de los hombres.
And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
