Juan 5
1 Después de esto Jesús subió a Jerusalén a una fiesta de los judíos.
After this came the feast of the Jews, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Junto a la puerta de La Oveja en Jerusalén, había un estanque llamado en hebreo Betzata que tenía cinco patios cubiertos
Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called Bethesda in Hebrew, which has five porticoes.
3 donde muchos enfermos, ciegos, cojos y paralíticos estaban tendidos.
In the porticoes were lying a great multitude of disabled people, including the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed, who were waiting for the moving of the water.
For at times an angel would go down into the pool and stir up the water. The first person who stepped in after the water was stirred up was healed of whatever disease he had.
5 Allí estaba un hombre que tenía 38 años enfermo.
One man was there who had been suffering in his disability for thirty-eight years.
6 Cuando Jesús lo vio tendido y supo cuánto tiempo tenía enfermo, le preguntó: ¿Quieres ser sano?
When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been in that condition for a long time already, he said to him, “Do yoʋ want to be made well?”
7 El enfermo le respondió: Señor, no tengo alguien que me baje al estanque cuando se agita el agua. Mientras voy, otro baja antes de mí.
The disabled man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am going, another goes down before me.”
8 Jesús le dijo: ¡Levántate, alza tu camilla y anda!
Jesus said to him, “Rise, pick up yoʋr mat, and walk.”
9 De inmediato el hombre fue sanado, alzó su camilla y andaba. Ese día era sábado.
Immediately the man was made well, so he picked up his mat and began to walk. Now that day was a Sabbath.
10 Entonces los judíos decían al que fue sanado: [Hoy] es sábado. No es legal que cargues tu camilla.
So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for yoʋ to pick up yoʋr mat.”
11 Pero él les respondió: El que me sanó, me dijo: Alza tu camilla y anda.
He answered them, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up yoʋr mat and walk.’”
12 Le preguntaron: ¿Quién te dijo: Alza y anda?
So they asked him, “Who is the man who said to yoʋ, ‘Pick up yoʋr mat and walk’?”
13 Pero el hombre no sabía quien lo sanó, porque Jesús se apartó de [la] multitud que estaba en el lugar.
But the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away, since there was a crowd in that place.
14 Después de esto Jesús lo halló en el Templo y le dijo: Fuiste sanado. Ya no peques más para que no te venga algo peor.
After this Jesus found the man in the temple courts and said to him, “Behold, yoʋ have been made well; do not sin anymore, lest something worse happen to yoʋ.”
15 El hombre fue e informó a los judíos que Jesús lo sanó.
Then the man went and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 Por esto los judíos perseguían a Jesús, porque hacía esto el sábado.
So the Jews began persecuting Jesus and seeking to kill him, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
17 Pero Él les decía: Mi Padre hasta ahora trabaja y Yo también.
But Jesus responded to them, “My Father is still working even now, and I too am working.”
18 Por esto los judíos más procuraban matarlo, porque no solo quebrantaba el sábado, sino también llamaba a Dios su propio Padre y se igualaba a Dios.
So the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Jesús declaró: En verdad, en verdad les digo: El Hijo nada puede hacer por iniciativa propia, sino lo que ve que el Padre hace. Lo que el Padre hace, también lo hace el Hijo.
So Jesus responded to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does in the same way.
20 Porque el Padre ama al Hijo y le muestra todo lo que Él hace. Y mayores obras le mostrará para que ustedes se maravillen.
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself does. And he will show him greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.
21 Porque como el Padre resucita a los muertos y les da vida, así también el Hijo da vida a los que quiere.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes.
22 Porque ni aun el Padre juzga a alguno, sino todo el juicio encomendó al Hijo,
The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,
23 para que todos honren al Hijo como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre Quien lo envió.
so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
24 En verdad, en verdad les digo: El que oye mi Palabra y cree al que me envió, tiene vida eterna. No va a juicio, sino pasa de la muerte a la vida. (aiōnios g166)
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. (aiōnios g166)
25 En verdad, en verdad les digo: Viene una hora y ya llegó, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que [la] oigan vivirán.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear it will live.
26 Porque como el Padre tiene vida en Él mismo, así también concedió al Hijo que tuviera vida en Él mismo.
For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
27 Le dio autoridad para juzgar, porque es el Hijo del Hombre.
And he has given the Son authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.
28 No se maravillen de esto, porque viene la hora cuando todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz.
Do not be amazed at this, because an hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice
29 Los que hicieron lo bueno saldrán a resurrección de vida, pero los que hicieron lo malo, a resurrección de juicio.
and come out, those who have done good to a resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to a resurrection of judgment.
30 Yo nada puedo hacer por iniciativa propia. Como oigo, juzgo. Mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi voluntad, sino la voluntad de Quien me envió.
“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me.
31 Si Yo doy testimonio con respecto a Mí mismo, mi testimonio no es verdadero.
“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid.
32 Otro es quien da testimonio de Mí, y sé que su testimonio es verdadero.
There is another who testifies about me, and I know that the testimony he gives about me is true.
33 Ustedes enviaron [mensajeros] a Juan, y [él] dio testimonio de la Verdad.
You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.
34 Pero Yo no recibo el testimonio de parte de un hombre. Digo esto para que ustedes sean salvos.
Now I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.
35 Aquél era la antorcha que ardía y alumbraba, y ustedes quisieron regocijarse en su luz por un tiempo.
John was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for an hour in his light.
36 Pero Yo tengo un testimonio mayor que el de Juan, porque hago las obras que el Padre me mandó que hiciera, las cuales dan testimonio de que el Padre me envió.
But I have testimony greater than John's. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, testify that the Father has sent me.
37 El Padre que me envió también dio testimonio de Mí. Ustedes jamás oyeron su voz, ni vieron su apariencia,
And the Father who sent me has himself testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time nor seen his form.
38 ni su Palabra permanece en ustedes, porque ustedes no creen en el que Él envió.
And you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe him whom he sent.
39 [Ustedes] escudriñan las Escrituras porque les parece que allí tienen vida eterna. Ellas son las que dan testimonio de Mí. (aiōnios g166)
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is these that testify about me, (aiōnios g166)
40 ¡Y ustedes no quieren venir a Mí para que tengan vida!
yet you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.
41 No recibo alabanzas de hombres.
I do not receive glory from men.
42 Pero sé que ustedes no tienen el amor de Dios.
But I know that you do not have the love of God within you.
43 Yo vine en Nombre de mi Padre, y no me reciben. Si otro viene en su propio nombre, lo recibirían.
I have come in the name of my Father, and yet you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
44 ¿Cómo pueden creer ustedes quienes reciben honor los unos de los otros, y no buscan el honor del único Dios?
How can you believe when you receive glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the one and only God?
45 No piensen que Yo los acusaré delante del Padre. Los acusa Moisés, en quien ustedes esperan.
Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope.
46 Porque si creyeran a Moisés, me creerían a Mí, porque él escribió con respecto a Mí.
If you had believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.
47 Pero si no creen sus escritos, ¿cómo creerán mis Palabras?
But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
