Proverbios 8
1 ¿No grita la sabiduría? ¿La comprensión no levanta la voz?
Doth not wisdom cry aloud, And understanding put forth her voice?
2 En la cima de los lugares altos por cierto, donde los caminos se encuentran, ella se para.
Upon the top of the high places, By the wayside, In the cross-ways, She taketh her station.
3 Junto a las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, en las puertas de entrada, llora en voz alta:
By the side of the gates, In the entrance of the city, In the approaches to the doors, she crieth aloud.
4 “¡Os llamo a vosotros, hombres! Envío mi voz a los hijos de la humanidad.
“To you, O men! do I call, And my voice is to the sons of men!
5 ¡Tú, simple, entiende la prudencia! ¡Necios, tened un corazón comprensivo!
O ye simple ones! learn wisdom, And ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart!
6 Escuchad, porque voy a hablar de cosas excelentes. La apertura de mis labios es para las cosas correctas.
Hear, for I speak excellent things, And my lips utter that which is right.
7 Porque mi boca dice la verdad. La maldad es una abominación para mis labios.
For my mouth speaketh truth, And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 Todas las palabras de mi boca son en justicia. No hay nada torcido ni perverso en ellos.
All the words of my mouth are in uprightness; There is nothing crooked or deceitful in them;
9 Todo está claro para el que entiende, derecho a los que encuentran el conocimiento.
They are all plain to the man of understanding, And right to those who find knowledge.
10 Recibe mi instrucción antes que la plata, conocimiento más que el oro de la elección.
Receive my instruction, and not silver. And knowledge rather than choice gold!
11 Porque la sabiduría es mejor que los rubíes. Todas las cosas que se puedan desear no se pueden comparar con ella.
For wisdom is better than pearls, And no precious things are to be compared with her.
12 “Yo, la sabiduría, he hecho de la prudencia mi morada. Descubra el conocimiento y la discreción.
“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out the knowledge of sagacious counsels.
13 El temor a Yahvé es odiar el mal. Odio el orgullo, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, And the deceitful mouth, do I hate.
14 El consejo y el buen conocimiento son míos. Tengo comprensión y poder.
Counsel is mine, and sound reason; I am understanding; I have strength.
15 Por mí reinan los reyes, y los príncipes decretan la justicia.
By me kings reign, And princes decree justice.
16 Por mí gobiernan los príncipes, nobles, y todos los gobernantes justos de la tierra.
By me princes rule, And nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17 Yo amo a los que me aman. Los que me buscan con diligencia me encontrarán.
I love them that love me, And they who seek me early shall find me.
18 Conmigo están las riquezas, el honor, riqueza duradera y prosperidad.
Riches and honor are with me; Yea, durable riches and prosperity.
19 Mi fruto es mejor que el oro, sí, que el oro fino, mi rendimiento que la plata de elección.
My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold. And my revenue than choice silver.
20 Yo ando en el camino de la justicia, en medio de los caminos de la justicia,
I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of equity.
21 para dar riqueza a los que me aman. Lleno sus tesoros.
I cause those who love me to possess substance; Yea, I fill their treasuries.
22 “Yahvé me poseyó en el comienzo de su obra, ante sus hazañas de antaño.
“The LORD created me, the firstling of his course, Before his works, of old;
23 Fui establecido desde siempre, desde el principio, antes de que la tierra existiera.
I was anointed from everlasting, From the beginning, even before the earth was made.
24 Cuando no había profundidades, nací yo, cuando no había manantiales que abundaran en agua.
When as yet there were no deeps, I was brought forth. When there were no springs, abounding with water.
25 Antes de que las montañas se asentaran en su lugar, antes de las colinas, nací yo;
Before the mountains were settled, Yea, before the hills, I was brought forth;
26 cuando aún no había hecho la tierra ni los campos, ni el principio del polvo del mundo.
Ere yet he had made the land and the wastes, And the first of the clods of the earth.
27 Cuando estableció los cielos, yo estaba allí. Cuando estableció un círculo en la superficie de las profundidades,
When he framed the heavens, I was there; When he drew a circle upon the face of the deep;
28 cuando estableció las nubes de arriba, cuando los manantiales de las profundidades se hicieron fuertes,
When he made firm the sky above, And the fountains of the deep rushed forth;
29 cuando le dio al mar su límite, para que las aguas no violen su mandamiento, cuando marcó los cimientos de la tierra,
When he gave to the sea its bounds, that the waters should not pass their border; When he marked out the foundations of the earth, —
30 entonces yo era el artesano a su lado. Era una delicia día a día, siempre regocijándose ante él,
Then was I by him as a master-builder; I was his delight day by day, Exulting before him at all times;
31 regocijo en todo su mundo. Mi deleite fue con los hijos de los hombres.
Exulting in the habitable part of his earth, And my delight was with the sons of men.
32 “Ahora, pues, hijos míos, escuchadme, porque son dichosos los que guardan mis caminos.
“Now, therefore, ye children, hearken to me! For happy are they who keep my ways!
33 Escucha la instrucción y sé sabio. No lo rechaces.
Hear instruction, and be wise! Yea, reject it not!
34 Dichoso el hombre que me escucha, vigilando diariamente a mis puertas, esperando en los puestos de mi puerta.
Happy the man who hearkeneth to me, Who watcheth day by day at my gates, Who waiteth at the posts of my doors;
35 Porque quien me encuentra, encuentra la vida, y obtendrá el favor de Yahvé.
For he that findeth me findeth life, And obtaineth favor from the LORD;
36 Pero el que peca contra mí hace daño a su propia alma. Todos los que me odian aman la muerte”.
But he who misseth me doeth violence to himself; All they who hate me love death.”
