San Lucas 19
1 Entró en Jericó, e iba pasando.
And he entered, and passed through Jericho.
2 Y he aquí que un hombre rico llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los publicanos,
And, behold, there was a man called Zacchæus, who was a chief publican; and he was rich.
3 buscaba ver a Jesús para conocerlo, pero no lo lograba a causa de la mucha gente, porque era pequeño de estatura.
And he sought to see Jesus, who he was, and was not able on account of the multitude, because he was of small stature.
4 Entonces corrió hacia adelante, y subió sobre un sicomoro para verlo, porque debía pasar por allí.
And he ran before, and climbed up a sycamore-tree, that he might see him, for he was about to pass that way.
5 Cuando Jesús llegó a este lugar, levantó los ojos y dijo: “Zaqueo, desciende pronto, porque hoy es necesario que Yo me hospede en tu casa”.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him: Zacchæus, make haste and come down, for I must spend this day at your house.
6 Y este descendió rápidamente, y lo recibió con alegría.
And he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 Viendo lo cual, todos murmuraban y decían: “Se ha ido a hospedar en casa de un varón pecador”.
And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying: He has gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 Mas Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: “Señor, he aquí que doy a los pobres la mitad de mis bienes; y si en algo he perjudicado a alguno le devuelvo el cuádruplo”.
And Zacchæus stood, and said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken from any one by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 Jesús le dijo: “Hoy se obró salvación a esta casa, porque también él es un hijo de Abrahán.
And Jesus said to him: To-day has salvation come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham.
10 Vino el Hijo del hombre a buscar y a salvar lo perdido”.
For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
11 Oyendo ellos todavía estas cosas, agregó una parábola, porque se hallaba próximo a Jerusalén, y ellos pensaban que el reino de Dios iba a ser manifestado en seguida.
And as they heard these things, he also spoke a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they thought that the kingdom of God would immediately appear.
12 Dijo pues: “Un hombre de noble linaje se fue a un país lejano a tomar para sí posesión de un reino y volver.
He said, therefore: A certain nobleman went into a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 Llamó a diez de sus servidores y les entregó diez minas, diciéndoles: “Negociad hasta que yo vuelva”.
And he called his ten servants, and gave them ten pounds, and said to them, Engage in trade till I come.
14 Ahora bien, sus conciudadanos lo odiaban, y enviaron una embajada detrás de él diciendo: “No queremos que ese reine sobre nosotros”.
But his citizens hated him, and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
15 Al retornar él, después de haber recibido el reinado, dijo que le llamasen a aquellos servidores a quienes había entregado el dinero, a fin de saber lo que había negociado cada uno.
And it came to pass, that, when he had returned, having received the kingdom, he commanded those servants to be called, to whom he had given the money, that he might know what each had gained by trading.
16 Presentose el primero y dijo: “Señor, diez minas ha producido tu mina”.
And the first came and said: Lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.
17 Le dijo: “Enhorabuena, buen servidor, ya que has sido fiel en tan poca cosa, recibe potestad sobre diez ciudades”.
And he said to him: Well done, good servant; because you have been faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.
18 Y vino el segundo y dijo: “Tu mina, Señor, ha producido cinco minas”.
And the second came and said: Lord, your pound has gained five pounds.
19 A él también le dijo: “Y tú sé gobernador de cinco ciudades”.
And he said to him also: And be you over five cities.
20 Mas el otro vino diciendo: “Señor, aquí tienes tu mina, que tuve escondida en un pañuelo.
And another came and said: Lord, behold your pound, which I have kept laid away in a napkin.
21 Pues te tenía miedo, porque tú eres un hombre duro; sacas lo que no pusiste, y siegas lo que no sembraste”.
For I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man; you take up that which you did not lay down, and reap that which you did not sow.
22 Replicole: “Por tu propia boca te condeno, siervo malvado. ¿Pensabas que soy hombre duro, que saco lo que no puse, y siego lo que no sembré?
Then he said to him: Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was a hard man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow.
23 Y entonces por qué no diste el dinero mío al banco? ( Así al menos ) a mi regreso lo hubiera yo recobrado con réditos”.
And why then did you not put my money into the bank, that, when I came, I could have collected it with interest?
24 Y dijo a los que estaban allí: “Quitadle la mina, y dádsela al que tiene diez”.
And he said to those who stood by: Take from him the pound, and give it to him that has ten pounds.
25 Dijéronle: “Señor, tiene diez minas”.
And they said to him: Lord, he has ten pounds.
26 “Os digo: a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
For I say to you, To every one that has, it shall be given; but from him that has not, even that which he has shall be taken away.
27 En cuanto a mis enemigos, los que no han querido que yo reinase sobre ellos, traedlos aquí y degolladlos en mi presencia”.
But those who are my enemies, who were not willing that I should rule over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
28 Después de haber dicho esto, marchó al frente subiendo a Jerusalén.
And when he had said these things, he went before, going up to Jerusalem.
29 Y cuando se acercó a Betfagé y Betania, junto al Monte de los Olivos, envió a dos de su discípulos,
And it came to pass, that, when he came near to Bethphage and Bethany, to the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
30 diciéndoles: “Id a la aldea de enfrente. Al entrar en ella, encontraréis un burrito atado sobre el cual nadie ha montado todavía; desatadlo y traedlo.
saying: Go into the opposite village, in which, when you enter, you will find a colt tied, on which no man ever sat. Loose him, and bring him.
31 Y si alguien os pregunta: “¿Por qué lo desatáis?”, diréis así: “El Señor lo necesita”.
And if any one ask you why you loose him, thus shall you say to him: The Lord has need of him.
32 Los enviados partieron y encontraron las cosas como les había dicho.
And those who were sent, went, and found as he had said to them.
33 Cuando desataban el burrito, los dueños les dijeron: “Por qué desatáis el pollino?”
And as they were loosing the colt, the owners of him said to them: Why do you loose the colt?
34 Respondieron: “El Señor lo necesita”.
They replied: The Lord has need of him.
35 Se lo llevaron a Jesús, pusieron sus mantos encima, e hicieron montar a Jesús.
And they brought him to Jesus, and threw their mantles upon the colt, and set Jesus on him.
36 Y mientras Él avanzaba, extendían sus mantos sobre el camino.
And as he was going on, they spread their mantles in the road.
37 Una vez que estuvo próximo al descenso del Monte de los Olivos, toda la muchedumbre de los discípulos, en su alegría, se puso a alabar a Dios con gran voz, por todos los portentos que habían visto,
And when he was now near the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and to praise God, with a loud voice, for all the mighty deeds which they had seen,
38 y decían: “Bendito el que viene, el Rey en nombre del Señor. En el cielo paz, y gloria en las alturas”.
saying: Blessed is the king that comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39 Pero algunos fariseos, de entre la multitud, dirigiéndose a Él, dijeron: “Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos”.
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude, said to him: Teacher, rebuke your disciples.
40 Mas Él respondió: “Os digo, si estas gentes se callan, las piedras se pondrán a gritar”.
And he answered, and said to them: I say to you, that if these had been silent, the stones would have cried out.
41 Y cuando estuvo cerca, viendo la ciudad, lloró sobre ella.
And when he came near, he looked upon the city, and wept over it,
42 y dijo: “¡Ah si en este día conocieras también tú lo que sería para la paz! Pero ahora está escondido a tus ojos.
saying: Hadst thou known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which were for thy peace! But now, they are hid from thy eyes.
43 Porque vendrán días sobre ti, y tus enemigos te circunvalarán con un vallado, y te cercarán en derredor y te estrecharán de todas partes;
For the days will come upon thee, when thy enemies will throw up a mound about thee, and inclose thee around, and keep thee in on every side,
44 derribarán por tierra a ti, y a tus hijos dentro de ti, y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, porque no conociste el tiempo en que has sido visitada”.
and will destroy thee and thy children within thee, and will not leave in thee one stone upon another, because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
45 Entró en el Templo y se puso a echar a los vendedores,
And he went into the temple, and began to drive out those who were selling in it, and those who were buying,
46 y les dijo: “Está escrito: «Mi casa será una casa de oración», y vosotros la habéis hecho una cueva de ladrones”.
and said to them: It is written, My house is a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.
47 Y día tras día enseñaba en el Templo. Mas los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas andaban buscando perderle, y también los jefes del pueblo;
And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, and the scribes, and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
48 pero no acertaban con lo que habían de hacer, porque el pueblo entero estaba en suspenso, escuchándolo.
and found nothing that they could do, for all the people hung on his words.
