San Lucas 18
1 Les propuso una parábola sobre la necesidad de que orasen siempre sin desalentarse:
And he spoke a parable to them, that they ought always to pray, and not to become weary,
2 “Había en una ciudad un juez que no temía a Dios y no hacía ningún caso de los hombres.
saying: There was in a certain city a judge, who neither feared God nor regarded man.
3 Había también allí, en esta misma ciudad, una viuda, que iba a buscarlo y le decía: “Hazme justicia librándome de mi adversario”.
And there was a widow in that city, and she came to him, and said: Avenge me on my opponent at law.
4 Y por algún tiempo no quiso; mas después dijo para sí: “Aunque no temo a Dios, ni respeto a hombre,
And for a while he refused. But afterward he said within himself: Though I fear not God, nor regard man,
5 sin embargo, porque esta viuda me importuna, le haré justicia, no sea que al fin venga y me arañe la cara.
yet, because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 Y el Señor agregó: “Habéis oído el lenguaje de aquel juez inicuo.
And the Lord said: Hear what the unjust judge says;
7 ¿Y Dios no habrá de vengar a sus elegidos, que claman a Él día y noche, y se mostraría tardío con respecto a ellos?
and will not God avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, though he delay long in respect to them?
8 Yo os digo que ejercerá la venganza de ellos prontamente. Pero el Hijo del hombre, cuando vuelva, ¿hallará por ventura la fe sobre la tierra?”.
I say to you, that he will avenge them speedily. Yet, when the Son of man comes, will he find the faith on the earth?
9 Para algunos, los que estaban persuadidos en sí mismos de su propia justicia, y que tenían en nada a los demás, dijo también esta parábola:
And he spoke this parable to some, who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and who despised others.
10 “Dos hombres subieron al Templo a orar, el uno fariseo, el otra publicano.
Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 El fariseo, erguido, oraba en su corazón de esta manera: “Oh Dios, te doy gracias de que no soy como los demás hombres, que son ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni como el publicano ese.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself: God, I thank thee that I am not as other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 Ayuno dos veces en la semana y doy el diezmo de todo cuanto poseo”.
I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 El publicano, por su parte, quedándose a la distancia, no osaba ni aun levantar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho diciendo: “Oh Dios, compadécete de mí, el pecador”.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying: God, be merciful to me a sinner.
14 Os digo: este bajó a su casa justificado, mas no el otro; porque el que se eleva, será abajado; y el que se abaja, será elevado”.
I say to you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For every one that exalts himself, shall be humbled; but he that humbles himself, shall be exalted.
15 Y le traían también los niñitos, para que los tocase; viendo lo cual, los discípulos los regañaban.
And they brought to him infants also, that he might touch them. But when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 Pero Jesús llamó a los niños, diciendo: “Dejad a los pequeñuelos venir a Mí: no les impidáis; porque de los tales es el reino de Dios.
And Jesus called them to him, and said: Let the little children come to me, and hinder them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 En verdad os digo: quien no recibe el reino de Dios como un niñito, no entrará en él”.
Verily I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God, as a little child, shall in no way enter into it.
18 Preguntole cierto dignatario: “Maestro bueno, ¿qué he de hacer para poseer en herencia la vida eterna?” (aiōnios g166)
And a certain ruler asked him, saying: Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
19 Jesús le dijo: “¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno, sino uno: Dios.
And Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? None is good but one, that is God.
20 Conoces los mandamientos. “No cometerás adulterio, no matarás, no robarás, no dirás falso testimonio, honra a tu padre y a tu madre”.
You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery; Do not kill; Do not steal; Do not bear false testimony; Honor your father and your mother.
21 Él repuso: “Yo he cumplido todo esto desde mi juventud”.
He replied: All these have I kept from my youth.
22 A lo cual Jesús replicó: “Una cosa te queda todavía: todo cuanto tienes véndelo y distribuye a pobres, y tendrás un tesoro en los cielos; y ven y sígueme”.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him: One thing you yet lack; sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 Al oír estas palabras, se entristeció, porque era muy rico.
And when he heard this, he was very sad, for he was very rich.
24 Mirándolo, entonces, Jesús dijo: “¡Cuán difícilmente, los que tienen los bienes entran en el reino de Dios!
When Jesus saw that he was very sad, he said: How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
25 Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el reino de Dios”.
For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom, of God.
26 Y los oyentes dijeron: “Entonces, ¿quién podrá salvarse?”
And those who heard it said: Who, then, can be saved?
27 Respondió: “Las cosas imposibles para hombres, posibles para Dios son”.
He replied: Things that are impossible with men, are possible with God.
28 Entonces Pedro le dijo: “Tú ves, nosotros hemos dejado las cosas propias y te hemos seguido”.
Then Peter said: Behold, we have left all and followed thee.
29 Respondioles: “En verdad, os digo, nadie dejará casa o mujer o hermanos o padres o hijos a causa del reino de Dios,
And he said to them: Verily I say to you, There is no one that has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 Tomando consigo a los Doce, les dijo: “He aquí que subimos a Jerusalén, y todo lo que ha sido escrito por los profetas se va a cumplir para el Hijo del hombre.
And he took the twelve aside, and said to them: Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.:
32 Él será entregado a los gentiles, se burlarán de Él, lo ultrajarán, escupirán sobre Él,
For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be derided and insulted and spit upon;
33 y después de haberlo azotado, lo matarán, y al tercer día resucitará”.
and they shall scourge him, and put him to death, and on the third day he shall rise again.
34 Pero ellos no entendieron ninguna de estas cosas; este asunto estaba escondido para ellos, y no conocieron de qué hablaba.
And they understood none of these things; and this saying was concealed from them; and they understood not the things that were spoken.
35 Cuando iba aproximándose a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado al borde del camino, y mendigaba.
And it came to pass, that, as he came near to Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road begging.
36 Oyendo que pasaba mucha gente, preguntó qué era eso.
And when he heard the multitude passing by, he asked what this meant.
37 Le dijeron: “Jesús, el Nazareno pasa”.
And they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.
38 Y clamó diciendo: “Jesús, Hijo de David, apiádate de mí!”
And he cried out and said: Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.
39 Los que iban delante, lo reprendían para que se callase, pero él gritaba todavía mucho más: “¡Hijo de David, apiádate de mí!”
And those who went before rebuked him, that he should be silent. But he cried so much the more: Son of David, have mercy on me.
40 Jesús se detuvo y ordenó que se lo trajesen; y cuando él se hubo acercado, le preguntó:
And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him,
41 “¿Qué deseas que te haga?” Dijo: “¡Señor, que reciba yo la vista!”
saying: What do you wish me to do for you? he replied: Lord, that I may receive my sight.
42 Y Jesús le dijo: “Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado”.
And Jesus said to him: Receive your sight; your faith has saved you.
43 Y en seguida vio, y lo acompañó glorificando a Dios. Y todo el pueblo, al ver esto, alabó a Dios.
And he immediately received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
