Poslovice 4
1 Slušajte, djeco, nastavu oèinu, i pazite da biste poznali mudrost.
Hear, ye sons, the correction of a father, and attend, that ye may know understanding.
2 Jer vam dobru nauku dajem, ne ostavljajte zakona mojega.
For, good teaching, have I given you, mine instruction, do not ye forsake.
3 Kad bijah sin u oca svojega mlad, i jedinac u matere svoje,
For, a son, became I to my father, tender and most precious in the sight of my mother.
4 On me uèaše i govoraše mi: neka primi srce tvoje rijeèi moje, drži zapovijesti moje i biæeš živ.
So he taught me, and said to me—Let thy heart, lay hold of my words, Keep my commandments and live!
5 Pribavi mudrost, pribavi razum; ne zaboravljaj i ne otstupaj od rijeèi usta mojih.
Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding, Do not forget, neither decline thou from the sayings of my mouth.
6 Nemoj je ostaviti, i èuvaæe te, ljubi je, i hraniæe te.
Do not forsake her, and she will guard thee, —love her and she will keep thee.
7 Mudrost je glavno; pribavi mudrost, i za sve imanje svoje pribavi razum.
The principal thing, is wisdom, acquire thou wisdom, With all thine acquisition, acquire thou understanding.
8 Podiži je i ona æe te uzvisiti, proslaviæe te kad je zagrliš.
Exalt her, and she will set thee on high, she will bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her:
9 Metnuæe ti na glavu vijenac od milina, krasnu krunu daæe ti.
She will give for thy head, a wreath of beauty, A crown of adorning, will she bestow upon thee.
10 Slušaj, sine moj, i primi rijeèi moje, i umnožiæe ti se godine životu.
Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and they will multiply to thee the years of life.
11 Uèim te putu mudrosti, vodim te stazama pravijem.
In the way of wisdom, have I taught thee, I have guided thee in tracks of uprightness.
12 Kad ushodiš, neæe se stezati koraci tvoji, i ako potrèiš neæeš se spotaknuti.
When thou walkest, thy step shall not be hemmed in, and, if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Drži se nastave i ne puštaj, èuvaj je, jer ti je život.
Take fast hold of correction, let her not go, —keep her, for, she, is thy life.
14 Ne idi na stazu bezbožnièku i putem nevaljalijeh ljudi ne stupaj.
Upon the path of the lawless, do not thou enter, and do not advance in the way of the wicked:
15 Ostavi ga, ne hodi po njemu, ukloni se od njega i mini ga.
Avoid it, do not pass thereon—turn from it, and depart.
16 Jer ne spavaju ako ne uèine zla, i ne dolazi im san ako koga ne obore.
For they sleep not, unless they can do mischief, —They rob themselves of their sleep, if they cannot cause someone to stumble,
17 Jer jedu hljeb bezbožnosti i piju vino nasilja.
For they consume bread gotten by lawlessness, and, wine obtained by violence, they drink.
18 A put je pravednièki kao svijetlo vidjelo, koje sve veæma svijetli dok ne bude pravi dan.
But, the path of the righteous, is as the light of dawn, —going on and brightening, unto meridian day.
19 A put je bezbožnièki kao mrak, ne znaju na što æe se spotaknuti.
The way of the lawless, is like darkness, they know not, at what they stumble.
20 Sine moj, slušaj rijeèi moje, prigni uho svoje besjedi mojoj.
My son, to my words, attend, to my sayings, incline thou thine ear;
21 Da ti ne odlaze iz oèiju; èuvaj ih usred srca svojega.
Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart;
22 Jer su život onima koji ih nalaze i zdravlje svemu tijelu njihovu.
For, life, they are, to them who find them, —and, to every part of one’s flesh, they bring healing.
23 Svrh svega što se èuva èuvaj srce svoje, jer iz njega izlazi život.
Above all that must be guarded, keep thou thy heart, for, out of it, are the issues of life.
24 Ukloni od usta svojih opaèinu i od usana svojih nevaljalstvo udalji.
Remove from thee, perverseness of mouth, and, craftiness of lips, put far from thee.
25 Oèi tvoje neka gledaju upravo i vjeðe tvoje neka se upravljaju pravo pred tobom.
Let, thine eyes, right onward, look, —and, thine eyelashes, point straight before thee.
26 Mjeri stazu nogama svojim, i svi putovi tvoji neka su poravnjeni.
Make level the track of thy foot, that, all thy ways, may be directed aright:
27 Ne svræi ni nadesno ni nalijevo, odvraæaj nogu svoju oda zla.
Decline not, to the right hand or to the left, —Turn away thy foot from wickedness.
