යාකූබඃ 1
1 ඊශ්වරස්‍ය ප්‍රභෝ ර‍්‍යීශුඛ්‍රීෂ්ටස්‍ය ච දාසෝ යාකූබ් විකීර්ණීභූතාන් ද්වාදශං වංශාන් ප්‍රති නමස්කෘත්‍ය පත්‍රං ලිඛති|
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Diaspora: Greetings.
2 හේ මම භ්‍රාතරඃ, යූයං යදා බහුවිධපරීක්‍ෂාෂු නිපතත තදා තත් පූර්ණානන්දස්‍ය කාරණං මන්‍යධ්වං|
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials,
3 යතෝ යුෂ්මාකං විශ්වාසස්‍ය පරීක්‍ෂිතත්වේන ධෛර‍්‍ය්‍යං සම්පාද්‍යත ඉති ජානීථ|
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4 තච්ච ධෛර‍්‍ය්‍යං සිද්ධඵලං භවතු තේන යූයං සිද්ධාඃ සම්පූර්ණාශ්ච භවිෂ්‍යථ කස්‍යාපි ගුණස්‍යාභාවශ්ච යුෂ්මාකං න භවිෂ්‍යති|
Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 යුෂ්මාකං කස්‍යාපි ඥානාභාවෝ යදි භවේත් තර්හි ය ඊශ්වරඃ සරලභාවේන තිරස්කාරඤ්ච විනා සර්ව්වේභ්‍යෝ දදාති තතඃ ස යාචතාං තතස්තස්මෛ දායිෂ්‍යතේ|
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault; and it will be given to him.
6 කින්තු ස නිඃසන්දේහඃ සන් විශ්වාසේන යාචතාං යතඃ සන්දිග්ධෝ මානවෝ වායුනා චාලිතස්‍යෝත්ප්ලවමානස්‍ය ච සමුද්‍රතරඞ්ගස්‍ය සදෘශෝ භවති|
But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
7 තාදෘශෝ මානවඃ ප්‍රභෝඃ කිඤ්චිත් ප්‍රාප්ස්‍යතීති න මන්‍යතාං|
For let that person not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
8 ද්විමනා ලෝකඃ සර්ව්වගතිෂු චඤ්චලෝ භවති|
He is a double-minded person, unstable in all his ways.
9 යෝ භ්‍රාතා නම්‍රඃ ස නිජෝන්නත්‍යා ශ්ලාඝතාං|
But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
10 යශ්ච ධනවාන් ස නිජනම්‍රතයා ශ්ලාඝතාංයතඃ ස තෘණපුෂ්පවත් ක්‍ෂයං ගමිෂ්‍යති|
and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
11 යතඃ සතාපේන සූර‍්‍ය්‍යේණෝදිත්‍ය තෘණං ශෝෂ්‍යතේ තත්පුෂ්පඤ්ච භ්‍රශ්‍යති තේන තස්‍ය රූපස්‍ය සෞන්දර‍්‍ය්‍යං නශ්‍යති තද්වද් ධනිලෝකෝ(අ)පි ස්වීයමූඪතයා ම්ලාස්‍යති|
For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich person fade away in his pursuits.
12 යෝ ජනඃ පරීක්‍ෂාං සහතේ ස ඒව ධන්‍යඃ, යතඃ පරීක්‍ෂිතත්වං ප්‍රාප්‍ය ස ප්‍රභුනා ස්වප්‍රේමකාරිභ්‍යඃ ප්‍රතිඥාතං ජීවනමුකුටං ලප්ස්‍යතේ|
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which he promised to those who love him.
13 ඊශ්වරෝ මාං පරීක්‍ෂත ඉති පරීක්‍ෂාසමයේ කෝ(අ)පි න වදතු යතඃ පාපායේශ්වරස්‍ය පරීක්‍ෂා න භවති ස ච කමපි න පරීක්‍ෂතේ|
Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
14 කින්තු යඃ කශ්චිත් ස්වීයමනෝවාඤ්ඡයාකෘෂ්‍යතේ ලෝභ්‍යතේ ච තස්‍යෛව පරීක්‍ෂා භවති|
But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.
15 තස්මාත් සා මනෝවාඤ්ඡා සගර්භා භූත්වා දුෂ්කෘතිං ප්‍රසූතේ දුෂ්කෘතිශ්ච පරිණාමං ගත්වා මෘත්‍යුං ජනයති|
Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.
16 හේ මම ප්‍රියභ්‍රාතරඃ, යූයං න භ්‍රාම්‍යත|
Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.
17 යත් කිඤ්චිද් උත්තමං දානං පූර්ණෝ වරශ්ච තත් සර්ව්වම් ඌර්ද්ධ්වාද් අර්ථතෝ යස්මින් දශාන්තරං පරිවර්ත්තනජාතච්ඡායා වා නාස්ති තස්මාද් දීප්ත්‍යාකරාත් පිතුරවරෝහති|
All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.
18 තස්‍ය සෘෂ්ටවස්තූනාං මධ්‍යේ වයං යත් ප්‍රථමඵලස්වරූපා භවාමස්තදර්ථං ස ස්වේච්ඡාතඃ සත්‍යමතස්‍ය වාක්‍යේනාස්මාන් ජනයාමාස|
Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
19 අතඒව හේ මම ප්‍රියභ්‍රාතරඃ, යුෂ්මාකම් ඒකෛකෝ ජනඃ ශ්‍රවණේ ත්වරිතඃ කථනේ ධීරඃ ක්‍රෝධේ(අ)පි ධීරෝ භවතු|
This you know, my beloved brothers. But let every person be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
20 යතෝ මානවස්‍ය ක්‍රෝධ ඊශ්වරීයධර්ම්මං න සාධයති|
for human anger does not produce the righteousness of God.
21 අතෝ හේතෝ ර‍්‍යූයං සර්ව්වාම් අශුචික්‍රියාං දුෂ්ටතාබාහුල්‍යඤ්ච නික්‍ෂිප්‍ය යුෂ්මන්මනසාං පරිත්‍රාණේ සමර්ථං රෝපිතං වාක්‍යං නම්‍රභාවේන ගෘහ්ලීත|
Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 අපරඤ්ච යූයං කේවලම් ආත්මවඤ්චයිතාරෝ වාක්‍යස්‍ය ශ්‍රෝතාරෝ න භවත කින්තු වාක්‍යස්‍ය කර්ම්මකාරිණෝ භවත|
But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
23 යතෝ යඃ කශ්චිද් වාක්‍යස්‍ය කර්ම්මකාරී න භූත්වා කේවලං තස්‍ය ශ්‍රෝතා භවති ස දර්පණේ ස්වීයශාරීරිකවදනං නිරීක්‍ෂමාණස්‍ය මනුජස්‍ය සදෘශඃ|
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his natural face in a mirror;
24 ආත්මාකාරේ දෘෂ්ටේ ස ප්‍රස්ථාය කීදෘශ ආසීත් තත් තත්ක්‍ෂණාද් විස්මරති|
for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.
25 කින්තු යඃ කශ්චිත් නත්වා මුක්තේඃ සිද්ධාං ව්‍යවස්ථාම් ආලෝක්‍ය තිෂ්ඨති ස විස්මෘතියුක්තඃ ශ්‍රෝතා න භූත්වා කර්ම්මකර්ත්තෛව සන් ස්වකාර‍්‍ය්‍යේ ධන්‍යෝ භවිෂ්‍යති|
But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does.
26 අනායත්තරසනඃ සන් යඃ කශ්චිත් ස්වමනෝ වඤ්චයිත්වා ස්වං භක්තං මන්‍යතේ තස්‍ය භක්ති ර්මුධා භවති|
If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not control his tongue, but deceives his heart, this one's religion is worthless.
27 ක්ලේශකාලේ පිතෘහීනානාං විධවානාඤ්ච යද් අවේක්‍ෂණං සංසාරාච්ච නිෂ්කලඞ්කේන යද් ආත්මරක්‍ෂණං තදේව පිතුරීශ්වරස්‍ය සාක්‍ෂාත් ශුචි ර්නිර්ම්මලා ච භක්තිඃ|
Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
