1 yadi yūyaṁ khrīṣṭēna sārddham utthāpitā abhavata tarhi yasmin sthānē khrīṣṭa īśvarasya dakṣiṇapārśvē upaviṣṭa āstē tasyōrddhvasthānasya viṣayān cēṣṭadhvaṁ|
If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting on the right hand of God.
2 pārthivaviṣayēṣu na yatamānā ūrddhvasthaviṣayēṣu yatadhvaṁ|
Set your mind on the things above, not on things on the earth.
3 yatō yūyaṁ mr̥tavantō yuṣmākaṁ jīvitañca khrīṣṭēna sārddham īśvarē guptam asti|
For ye died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God;
4 asmākaṁ jīvanasvarūpaḥ khrīṣṭō yadā prakāśiṣyatē tadā tēna sārddhaṁ yūyamapi vibhavēna prakāśiṣyadhvē|
when Christ, our life, shall be manifested, then will ye also be manifested with him in glory.
5 atō vēśyāgamanam aśucikriyā rāgaḥ kutsitābhilāṣō dēvapūjātulyō lōbhaścaitāni rpāthavapuruṣasyāṅgāni yuṣmābhi rnihanyantāṁ|
Make dead therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
6 yata ētēbhyaḥ karmmabhya ājñālaṅghinō lōkān pratīśvarasya krōdhō varttatē|
on account of which things cometh the wrath of God.
7 pūrvvaṁ yadā yūyaṁ tānyupājīvata tadā yūyamapi tānyēvācarata;
In which things ye also once walked, when ye lived in them;
8 kintvidānīṁ krōdhō rōṣō jihiṁsiṣā durmukhatā vadananirgatakadālapaścaitāni sarvvāṇi dūrīkurudhvaṁ|
but now put ye away all these, anger, wrath, malice, evil-speaking, filthy language out of your mouth.
9 yūyaṁ parasparaṁ mr̥ṣākathāṁ na vadata yatō yūyaṁ svakarmmasahitaṁ purātanapuruṣaṁ tyaktavantaḥ
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds,
10 svasraṣṭuḥ pratimūrtyā tattvajñānāya nūtanīkr̥taṁ navīnapuruṣaṁ parihitavantaśca|
and have put on the new man, who is renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him;
11 tēna ca yihūdibhinnajātīyayōśchinnatvagacchinnatvacō rmlēcchaskuthīyayō rdāsamuktayōśca kō'pi viśēṣō nāsti kintu sarvvēṣu sarvvaḥ khrīṣṭa ēvāstē|
where there is no Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.
12 ataēva yūyam īśvarasya manōbhilaṣitāḥ pavitrāḥ priyāśca lōkā iva snēhayuktām anukampāṁ hitaiṣitāṁ namratāṁ titikṣāṁ sahiṣṇutāñca paridhaddhvaṁ|
Clothe yourselves, therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and beloved, with compassionate affections, kindness, lowliness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;
13 yūyam ēkaikasyācaraṇaṁ sahadhvaṁ yēna ca yasya kimapyaparādhyatē tasya taṁ dōṣaṁ sa kṣamatāṁ, khrīṣṭō yuṣmākaṁ dōṣān yadvad kṣamitavān yūyamapi tadvat kurudhvaṁ|
bearing with each other, and forgiving each other, if any one have a complaint against another; even as Christ freely forgave you, do ye also freely forgive;
14 viśēṣataḥ siddhijanakēna prēmabandhanēna baddhā bhavata|
and over all these things put on the robe of love, which is the bond of perfectness;
15 yasyāḥ prāptayē yūyam ēkasmin śarīrē samāhūtā abhavata sēśvarīyā śānti ryuṣmākaṁ manāṁsyadhitiṣṭhatu yūyañca kr̥tajñā bhavata|
and let the peace of Christ, to which ye were called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be ye thankful.
16 khrīṣṭasya vākyaṁ sarvvavidhajñānāya sampūrṇarūpēṇa yuṣmadantarē nivamatu, yūyañca gītai rgānaiḥ pāramārthikasaṅkīrttanaiśca parasparam ādiśata prabōdhayata ca, anugr̥hītatvāt prabhum uddiśya svamanōbhi rgāyata ca|
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, in grace singing in your hearts to God;
17 vācā karmmaṇā vā yad yat kuruta tat sarvvaṁ prabhō ryīśō rnāmnā kuruta tēna pitaram īśvaraṁ dhanyaṁ vadata ca|
and whatever ye do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father, through him.
18 hē yōṣitaḥ, yūyaṁ svāmināṁ vaśyā bhavata yatastadēva prabhavē rōcatē|
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 hē svāminaḥ, yūyaṁ bhāryyāsu prīyadhvaṁ tāḥ prati paruṣālāpaṁ mā kurudhvaṁ|
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20 hē bālāḥ, yūyaṁ sarvvaviṣayē pitrōrājñāgrāhiṇō bhavata yatastadēva prabhōḥ santōṣajanakaṁ|
Children, obey your parents in all things; for this is well-pleasing in the Lord.
21 hē pitaraḥ, yuṣmākaṁ santānā yat kātarā na bhavēyustadarthaṁ tān prati mā rōṣayata|
Fathers, provoke not your children, lest they be discouraged.
22 hē dāsāḥ, yūyaṁ sarvvaviṣaya aihikaprabhūnām ājñāgrāhiṇō bhavata dr̥ṣṭigōcarīyasēvayā mānavēbhyō rōcituṁ mā yatadhvaṁ kintu saralāntaḥkaraṇaiḥ prabhō rbhātyā kāryyaṁ kurudhvaṁ|
Bond-servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord.
23 yacca kurudhvē tat mānuṣamanuddiśya prabhum uddiśya praphullamanasā kurudhvaṁ,
Whatever ye do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men,
24 yatō vayaṁ prabhutaḥ svargādhikārarūpaṁ phalaṁ lapsyāmaha iti yūyaṁ jānītha yasmād yūyaṁ prabhōḥ khrīṣṭasya dāsā bhavatha|
knowing that from the Lord ye will receive the recompense of the inheritance; serve Christ as your Lord.
25 kintu yaḥ kaścid anucitaṁ karmma karōti sa tasyānucitakarmmaṇaḥ phalaṁ lapsyatē tatra kō'pi pakṣapātō na bhaviṣyati|
For he that doeth wrong, shall receive back the wrong which he hath done; and there is no respect of persons.
