Iov 12
1 Și Iov a răspuns și a zis:
And Job answered and said,
2 Fără îndoială că voi sunteți poporul și înțelepciunea va muri odată cu voi.
No doubt but you are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
3 Dar eu am înțelegere la fel ca voi; nu vă sunt inferior; da, cine nu știe lucruri ca acestea?
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yes, who knows not such things as these?
4 Sunt ca unul batjocorit de aproapele său, care cheamă pe Dumnezeu și el îi răspunde, cel drept și integru este de râs în batjocură.
I am as one mocked of his neighbor, who calls on God, and he answers him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
5 Cel ce este gata să alunece cu picioarele sale este ca o lampă disprețuită în gândul celui ce este în tihnă.
He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
6 Corturile jefuitorilor prosperă și cei ce provoacă pe Dumnezeu sunt în siguranță, în a căror mână Dumnezeu aduce din abundență.
The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.
7 Dar întreabă acum fiarele și ele te vor învăța; și păsările cerului și ele îți vor spune;
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach you; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell you:
8 Sau vorbește pământului și el te va învăța, și peștii mării îți vor istorisi.
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach you: and the fishes of the sea shall declare to you.
9 Cine nu știe în toate acestea că mâna DOMNULUI a lucrat aceasta?
Who knows not in all these that the hand of the LORD has worked this?
10 În a cărui mână este sufletul fiecărei viețuitoare și suflarea întregii omeniri.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
11 Nu încearcă urechea cuvintele? Și nu gustă gura mâncarea sa?
Does not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
12 Înțelepciune este la cei foarte bătrâni; și înțelegere în lungimea zilelor.
With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
13 La el este înțelepciune și tărie, el are sfat și înțelegere.
With him is wisdom and strength, he has counsel and understanding.
14 Iată, el dărâmă și nu poate fi construit din nou; el închide un om și nu poate fi deschidere.
Behold, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again: he shuts up a man, and there can be no opening.
15 Iată, el reține apele și ele seacă; de asemenea le trimite și ele răstoarnă pământul.
Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up: also he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.
16 La el este tărie și înțelepciune; cel înșelat și înșelătorul sunt ai lui.
With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
17 El duce pe sfătuitori ca pradă și face pe judecători nebuni.
He leads counsellors away spoiled, and makes the judges fools.
18 El dezleagă legătura împăraților și încinge coapsele lor cu un brâu.
He looses the bond of kings, and girds their loins with a girdle.
19 El duce pe prinți ca pradă și răstoarnă pe cel puternic.
He leads princes away spoiled, and overthrows the mighty.
20 El îndepărtează vorbirea celor de încredere și ia înțelegerea celor bătrâni.
He removes away the speech of the trusty, and takes away the understanding of the aged.
21 El varsă dispreț peste prinți și slăbește tăria celor puternici.
He pours contempt on princes, and weakens the strength of the mighty.
22 El descoperă lucruri adânci din întuneric și scoate la lumină umbra morții.
He discovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.
23 El mărește națiunile și le distruge; el lărgește națiunile și le strâmtorează din nou.
He increases the nations, and destroys them: he enlarges the nations, and straitens them again.
24 El ia inima mai marilor popoarelor pământului și îi face să rătăcească într-o pustie fără drum.
He takes away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
25 Ei bâjbâie fără lumină în întuneric și el îi face să șovăie ca un om beat.
They grope in the dark without light, and he makes them to stagger like a drunken man.
