1 Timotei 4
1 Iar Duhul spune în mod clar că, în timpurile din urmă, unii se vor depărta de credință, dând atenție duhurilor amăgitoare și doctrinelor dracilor,
Howbeit, the Spirit, expressly saith—that, in later seasons, some will revolt from the faith, giving heed unto seducing spirits, and unto teachings of demons—
2 Vorbind minciuni în fățărnicie, având propria lor conștiință însemnată cu fierul înroșit,
in hypocrisy, speaking falsehood, [of demons] cauterised in their own conscience, —
3 Oprind să se căsătorească și poruncind să se abțină de la mâncăruri, pe care Dumnezeu le-a creat pentru a fi primite cu mulțumire de cei ce cred și cunosc adevărul.
Forbidding to marry, [commanding] to abstain from foods which, God, created to be received with thanksgiving by them who believe and personally know the truth;
4 Pentru că fiecare creatură a lui Dumnezeu este bună și nimic nu este de refuzat, dacă este primit cu mulțumire,
Because, every creature of God, is good, and nothing to be cast away, if, with thanksgiving, it be received, —
5 Fiindcă este sfințit prin cuvântul lui Dumnezeu și prin rugăciune.
For it is hallowed by the word of God and intercession,
6 Punându-i pe frați să își amintească acestea, vei fi un bun servitor al lui Isus Cristos, hrănit în cuvintele credinței și ale doctrinei bune, la care te-ai conformat.
These things, submitting to the brethren, thou shall be, a noble, minister of Christ Jesus, nourishing thyself with the words of the faith, and of the noble teaching which thou hast closely studied.
7 Dar refuză fabulațiile profane și băbești și deprinde-te în evlavie.
But, from the profane and old-wives’ stories, excuse thyself, and be training thyself unto godliness;
8 Fiindcă antrenamentul trupesc este de puțin folos, dar evlavia este de folos la toate, având o promisiune a vieții care este acum și a celei care vine.
For, the bodily training, for little, is profitable, whereas, godliness, for all things is profitable, —having, promise, of life—the present and the coming.
9 Acesta este un cuvânt de încredere și demn de toată acceptarea.
Faithful, the saying! and, of all acceptance, worthy;
10 Fiindcă pentru aceasta deopotrivă muncim și suferim ocară, pentru că ne încredem în Dumnezeul cel viu, care este Salvatorul tuturor oamenilor, mai ales al celor ce cred.
For, to this end, are we toiling and contending, because we have set our hope on a Living God, Who is Saviour of all men—specially, of such as believe.
11 Poruncește și învață-i acestea.
Be giving these things in charge, and be teaching: —
12 Să nu îți disprețuiască nimeni tinerețea, ci fii un exemplu pentru credincioși în cuvânt, în comportare, în dragoste creștină, în duh, în credință, în puritate.
Let, no one, despise, thy youth, but, an ensample, become thou of the faithful, —in discourse, in behaviour, in love, in faith, in chastity.
13 Până ce vin, fii atent la citire, la îndemnare și la doctrină.
While I am coming, be giving heed—to the reading, to the exhorting, to the teaching:
14 Nu neglija darul care este în tine, care ți-a fost dat prin profeție, cu punerea mâinilor prezbiterilor.
Be not careless of the gift of favour, that is in thee, which was given thee through means of prophesying, along with a laying on of the hands of the eldership.
15 Cugetă la acestea, ocupă-te în totul cu ele, pentru ca progresul tău să fie arătat tuturor.
These things, be thy care, in these things, be thou, that, thine advancement, may be, manifest, unto all:
16 Ia seama la tine însuți și la doctrină; stăruie în ele; într-adevăr, făcând aceasta, te vei salva și pe tine însuți și pe cei ce te ascultă.
Be giving heed to thyself, and to thy teaching, —abide still in them; for, this doing, both, thyself, shalt thou save, and them that hearken to thee.
