Jó 13
1 Eis que meus olhos têm visto tudo [isto]; meus ouvidos o ouviram, e entenderam.
Lo! all this mine eye hath seen; Mine ear hath heard and understood it.
2 Assim como vós o sabeis, eu também o sei; não sou inferior a vós.
What ye know, I know also; I am not inferior to you.
3 Mas eu falarei com o Todo-Poderoso, e quero me defender para com Deus.
But O that I might speak with the Almighty! O that I might reason with God!
4 Pois na verdade vós sois inventores de mentiras; todos vós sois médicos inúteis.
For ye are forgers of lies; Physicians of no value, all of you!
5 Bom seria se vos calásseis por completo, pois seria sabedoria de vossa parte.
O that ye would altogether hold your peace! This, truly, would be wisdom in you.
6 Ouvi agora meu argumento, e prestai atenção aos argumentos de meus lábios.
Hear, I pray you, my arguments; Attend to the pleadings of my lips!
7 Por acaso falareis perversidade por Deus, e por ele falareis engano?
Will ye speak falsehood for God? Will ye utter deceit for him?
8 Fareis acepção de sua pessoa? Brigareis em defesa de Deus?
Will ye be partial to his person? Will ye contend earnestly for God?
9 Seria bom [para vós] se ele vos investigasse? Enganareis a ele como se engana a algum homem?
Will it be well for you, if he search you thoroughly? Can ye deceive him, as one may deceive a man?
10 Certamente ele vos repreenderá, se em oculto fizerdes acepção de pessoas.
Surely he will rebuke you, If ye secretly have respect to persons.
11 Por acaso a majestade dele não vos espantará? E o temor dele não cairá sobre sobre vós?
Doth not his majesty make you afraid, And his dread fall upon you?
12 Vossos conceitos são provérbios de cinzas; vossas defesas são como defesas de lama.
Your maxims are words of dust; Your fortresses are fortresses of clay.
13 Calai-vos diante de mim, e eu falarei; e venha sobre mim o que vier.
Hold your peace, and let me speak: And then come upon me what will!
14 Por que tiraria eu minha carne com meus dentes, e poria minha alma em minha mão?
Why do I take my flesh in my teeth, And put my life in my hand?
15 Eis que, ainda que ele me mate, nele esperarei; porém defenderei meus caminhos diante dele.
Lo! he slayeth me, and I have no hope! Yet will I justify my ways before him.
16 Ele mesmo será minha salvação; pois o hipócrita não virá perante ele.
This also shall be my deliverance; For no unrighteous man will come before him.
17 Ouvi com atenção minhas palavras, e com vossos ouvidos minha declaração.
Hear attentively my words, And give ear to my declaration!
18 Eis que já tenho preparado minha causa; sei que serei considerado justo.
Behold, I have now set in order my cause; I know that I am innocent.
19 Quem é o que brigará comigo? Pois então eu me calaria e morreria.
Who is he that can contend with me? For then would I hold my peace, and die!
20 Somente duas coisas não faças comigo; então eu não me esconderei de teu rosto:
Only do not unto me two things, Then will I not hide myself from thy presence;
21 Afasta tua mão de sobre mim, e teu terror não me espante.
Let not thy hand be heavy upon me, And let not thy terrors make me afraid:
22 Chama, e eu responderei; ou eu falarei, e tu me responde.
Then call upon me, and I will answer; Or I will speak, and answer thou me.
23 Quantas culpas e pecados eu tenho? Faze-me saber minha transgressão e meu pecado.
How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me to know my faults and transgressions.
24 Por que escondes teu rosto, e me consideras teu inimigo?
Wherefore dost thou hide thy face, And account me as thine enemy?
25 Por acaso quebrarás a folha arrebatada [pelo vento]? E perseguirás a palha seca?
Wilt thou put in fear the driven leaf? Wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
26 Por que escreves contra mim amarguras, e me fazes herdar as transgressões de minha juventude?
For thou writest bitter things against me, And makest me inherit the sins of my youth.
27 Também pões meus pés no tronco, e observas todos os meus caminhos. Tu pões limites às solas dos meus pés.
Yea, thou puttest my feet in the stocks, And waterest all my paths; Thou hemmest in the soles of my feet.
28 Eu me consumo como a podridão, como uma roupa que a traça rói.
And I, like an abandoned thing, shall waste away; Like a garment which is moth-eaten.
