Efésios 4
1 Portanto, eu, o prisioneiro no Senhor, rogo-vos que andeis como é digno do chamado com que fostes chamados,
I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, exhort you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called;
2 com toda humildade e mansidão; com paciência, tolerando uns aos outros em amor.
with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love,
3 Procurai guardar a unidade do Espírito pelo vínculo da paz.
earnestly endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 Há um [só] corpo, e um [só] Espírito, como também fostes chamados em uma [só] esperança do vosso chamado.
There is one body and one Spirit, even as you have been called in one hope of your calling;
5 Um [só] Senhor, uma [só] fé, um [só] batismo;
one Lord, one faith, one immersion;
6 um [só] Deus, e Pai de todos, que é acima de todos, por meio de todos, e em todos.
one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in you all.
7 Mas a graça foi dada a cada um de nós conforme a medida do dom de Cristo.
But grace has been given to each one of us, according to the measure of the gift of the Christ.
8 Por isso diz: Quando ele subiu ao alto, levou cativo o cativeiro, e deu dons às pessoas.
For which reason, the scripture says: When he ascended on high, he led captive a multitude of captives, and gave gifts to men.
9 (O que significa este “ele subiu”, senão que ele também tinha descido às partes mais baixas da terra?)
But this―He ascended―what does it mean, but that he also descended into the lower earthly regions?
10 Aquele que desceu é também o mesmo que subiu muito acima de todos os céus, para preencher todas as coisas.
He that descended is also he that ascended high above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.
11 E ele mesmo deu uns como apóstolos, outros como profetas, outros como evangelistas, e outros como pastores e instrutores.
And he himself gave some to be apostles, and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 para o aperfeiçoamento dos santos, para a obra do serviço, para a edificação do corpo de Cristo;
for the complete instruction of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of the Christ,
13 até que todos cheguemos à unidade da fé e do conhecimento do Filho de Deus, à maturidade, à medida da estatura da plenitude de Cristo.
till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to a measure of stature that fully develops the Christ;
14 O fim disso é que não mais sejamos crianças inconstantes, levadas de um lado para outro por todo vento de doutrina, pelo engano dos pessoas que, para enganar, usam de fraudes com astúcia.
that we might no longer be children, tossed and carried about by every wind of teaching, through the artifice of men, through craftiness used by them for the deliberate planning of deceit;
15 Pelo contrário, sigamos a verdade em amor, e cresçamos em tudo naquele que é a cabeça: Cristo.
but speaking truthfully in love, we might grow up in all things, into him who is the head, even the Christ,
16 É dele que todo o corpo, bem ajustado e unido por todos os ligamentos, conforme a operação de cada parte na medida devida, proporciona o crescimento do corpo, para a sua própria edificação em amor.
from whom the whole body, compactly fitted together, and united by every helping joint, according to the energy in the measure of each part, makes increase of the body, for the building up of itself in love.
17 Portanto digo isso, e dou testemunho no Senhor, que não andeis mais como os gentios andam, na futilidade das suas mentes.
This I say, therefore, and appeal to you solemnly in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the other Gentiles walk, in the error of their minds,
18 Esses têm o entendimento nas trevas, e estão separados da vida de Deus pela ignorância que há neles, pela dureza do seu coração.
darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;
19 Como se tornaram insensíveis, eles se entregaram à sensualidade, para cometerem com avidez toda impureza.
who, being past feeling, have given themselves up to licentiousness, that they may work all manner of uncleanness with greediness.
20 Mas não foi assim que vós aprendestes de Cristo;
But you have not so learned the Christ,
21 se é que o ouvistes, e fostes ensinados nele, como a verdade está em Jesus;
if, indeed, you have heard of him, and been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 quanto ao comportamento passado, que deveis abandonar o velho ser humano, que se corrompe pelos maus desejos de engano;
that, as to your former life, you put off the old man, which is corrupt, according to its deceitful desires,
23 que [deveis] vos renovar no espírito da vossa mente;
and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 e que [deveis] vos revestir do novo ser humano, que é criado conforme Deus na verdadeira justiça e santidade.
and put on the new man, which, according to the will of God, is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Portanto, abandonai a mentira, e falai a verdade cada um ao seu próximo; pois somos membros uns dos outros.
For which reason, putting away lying, speak, every one, truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
26 Quando irardes, não pequeis; o sol não se ponha sobre a vossa ira;
Be angry, and yet do not sin: let not the sun go down on your wrath,
27 nem deis lugar ao diabo.
nor give place to the devil.
28 O que furtava, não furte mais; em vez disso, trabalhe, operando com as próprias mãos o bem, para que tenha o que repartir com o que tiver necessidade.
Let him that steals, steal no more: but rather let labor, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have something to give to him that has need.
29 Não saia de vossa boca palavra imoral; mas sim a boa para a edificação conforme a necessidade; para que comunique graça aos que a ouvem.
Let no impure speech come out of your mouth, but whatever is good for needful edification, that it may give grace to the hearers:
30 E não entristeçais o Espírito Santo de Deus, no qual fostes selados para o dia da libertação.
and grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, with which you have been sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Toda amargura, raiva, ira, gritaria, e maledicência sejam tiradas do meio de vós, assim como toda malícia.
Let all bitterness and anger and wrath and clamor and impious speaking be put away from you, with all malice:
32 Em vez disso, sede benignos uns com os outros, misericordiosos, perdoando-vos uns aos outros, como também Deus vos perdoou em Cristo.
and be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
