Hebreus 12
1 Portanto nós tambem, pois que estamos rodeados de uma tão grande nuvem de testemunhas, deixemos toda a carga, e o peccado que tão commodamente nos rodeia, e corramos com paciencia a carreira que nos está proposta:
Therefore, we also having so great a cloud of witnesses set around us, having put off every weight, and the closely besetting sin, may we run the contest that is set before us through endurance,
2 Olhando para Jesus, auctor e consummador da fé, o qual pelo gozo que lhe estava proposto supportou a cruz, desprezando a affronta, e assentou-se á dextra do throno de Deus.
looking to the Author and Perfecter of the faith—Jesus, who, for the joy set before Him, endured a cross, having despised shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God;
3 Considerae pois aquelle que contra si mesmo supportou tal contradicção dos peccadores, para que não enfraqueçaes, desfallecendo em vossos animos.
for again consider Him who endured such contradiction from the sinners to Himself, that you may not be wearied in your souls—being faint.
4 Ainda não resististes até ao sangue, combatendo contra o peccado.
You did not yet resist to blood—striving with sin;
5 E já vos esquecestes da exhortação que, como a filhos, discorre comvosco: Filho meu, não desprezes a correcção do Senhor, e não desmaies quando por elle fores reprehendido;
and you have forgotten the exhortation that speaks fully to you as to sons, “My son, do not despise [the] discipline of [the] LORD, nor be faint, being reproved by Him,
6 Porque o Senhor corrige ao que ama, e açoita a qualquer que recebe por filho.
for whom the LORD loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives”;
7 Se supportaes a correcção, Deus vos trata como a filhos; porque, que filho ha a quem o pae não corrija?
if you endure discipline, God bears Himself to you as to sons, for who is a son whom a father does not discipline?
8 Mas, se estaes sem disciplina, da qual todos são feitos participantes, logo sois bastardos, e não filhos.
And if you are apart from discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are bastards, and not sons.
9 Tambem, na verdade, tivemos nossos paes, segundo a carne, para nos corrigir, e os reverenciámos: não nos sujeitaremos muito mais ao Pae dos espiritos, para vivermos?
Then, indeed, we have had fathers of our flesh, correctors, and we respected [them]; will we not much rather be subject to the Father of the spirits, and live?
10 Porque aquelles, na verdade, por um pouco de tempo, nos corrigiam como bem lhes parecia; porém este, para nosso proveito, para sermos participantes da sua sanctidade.
For they, indeed, for a few days, according to what seemed good to them, were disciplining, but He for profit, to be partakers of His separation;
11 E, na verdade, toda a correcção, ao presente, não parece ser causa de gozo, senão de tristeza, mas depois produz um fructo pacifico de justiça aos exercitados por ella
and all discipline for the present, indeed, does not seem to be of joy, but of sorrow, yet afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those exercised through it.
12 Portanto tornae a levantar as mãos cançadas, e os joelhos desconjuntados,
For this reason, lift up the hanging-down hands and the loosened knees;
13 E fazei rectas veredas para os vossos pés, para que o que manqueja se não desvie inteiramente, antes seja sarado.
and make straight paths for your feet, so that which is lame may not be turned aside, but rather be healed;
14 Segui a paz com todos, e a sanctificação, sem a qual ninguem verá o Senhor:
pursue peace with all, and the separation, apart from which no one will see the LORD,
15 Attendendo a que ninguem se prive da graça de Deus, a que nenhuma raiz de amargura, brotando, vos perturbe, e por ella muitos se contaminem.
observing lest anyone be failing of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up may give trouble, and through this many may be defiled;
16 Que ninguem seja fornicario, ou profano, como Esaú, que por um manjar vendeu o seu direito de primogenitura.
lest anyone be a fornicator, or a profane person, as Esau, who in exchange for one morsel of food sold his birthright,
17 Porque bem sabeis que, querendo ainda depois herdar a benção, foi rejeitado, porque não achou logar de arrependimento, ainda que com lagrimas o buscou.
for you know that also afterward, wishing to inherit the blessing, he was disapproved of, for he did not find a place of conversion, though having sought it with tears.
18 Porque não chegastes ao monte que se não podia tocar, e ao fogo incendido, e á escuridão, e ás trevas, e á tempestade,
For you did not come near to the mountain touched and scorched with fire, and to blackness, and darkness, and storm,
19 E ao sonido da trombeta, e á voz das palavras, a qual os que a ouviram pediram que se lhes não fallasse mais;
and a sound of a trumpet, and a voice of sayings, which those having heard begged that a word might not be added to them,
20 Porque não podiam supportar o que se lhes mandava: se até uma besta tocar o monte, será apedrejada ou passada com uma frecha.
for they were not bearing that which is commanded, “And if a beast may touch the mountain, it will be stoned, or shot through with an arrow,”
21 E tão terrivel era a visão, que Moysés disse: Estou todo assombrado, e tremendo.
and (so terrible was the sight), Moses said, “I am exceedingly fearful, and trembling.”
22 Mas chegastes ao monte de Sião, e á cidade do Deus vivo, á Jerusalem celestial, e aos muitos milhares de anjos;
But you came to Mount Zion, and to [the] city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of messengers,
23 Á assembléa geral e egreja dos primogenitos, que estão inscriptos nos céus, e a Deus, o juiz de todos, e aos espiritos dos justos aperfeiçoados
to the assembly-place and Assembly of the Firstborn registered in Heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to spirits of righteous men made perfect,
24 E a Jesus, o Mediador do Novo Testamento, e ao sangue da aspersão, que falla melhores coisas do que o de Abel.
and to a mediator of a new covenant—Jesus, and to blood of sprinkling, speaking better things than that of Abel!
25 Vêde que não rejeiteis ao que falla; porque, se não escaparam aquelles que rejeitaram ao que na terra dava respostas divinas, muito menos escaparemos nós, se nos desviarmos d'aquelle que é dos céus
Watch out lest you refuse Him who is speaking, for if those did not escape who refused him who was divinely speaking on earth—much less we who turn away from Him who [speaks] from Heaven,
26 A voz do qual moveu então a terra, porém agora annunciou, dizendo: Ainda uma vez commoverei, não só a terra, senão tambem o céu.
whose voice shook the earth then, and now He has promised, saying, “Yet once [more]—I shake not only the earth, but also Heaven”;
27 E esta palavra: Ainda uma vez, mostra a mudança das coisas moveis, couo coisas feitas, para que as immoveis permaneçam.
and this, “Yet once [more],” makes evident the removal of the things shaken, as of things having been made, that the things not shaken may remain;
28 Pelo que, recebendo o reino immovel, retenhamos a graça, pela qual sirvamos a Deus agradavelmente com reverencia e piedade;
for this reason, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, may we have grace, through which we may serve God well-pleasingly, with reverence and fear,
29 Porque o nosso Deus é um fogo consumidor.
for our God [is] also a consuming fire.
