1 Przedniejszemu śpiewakowi na Sussanedut złota pieśń Dawidowa do nauczania; Gdy walczył przeciw Syryjczykom Nacharaim, i przeciw Syryjczykom Soby; gdy się wrócił Joab, poraziwszy Edomczyków w dolinie solnej dwanaście tysięcy. Boże! odrzuciłeś nas, rozproszyłeś nas, i rozgniewałeś się; nawróćże się zasię do nas.

When he waged war with Aram-neharaim, and with Aram-zobah, —and then Joab returned and smote of Edom in the Valley of Salt, twelve thousand. O God, thou hast rejected us—hast scattered us, Thou hast been angry, Wilt thou restore us?
2 Zatrząsnąłeś był ziemią, i rozsadziłeś ją; uleczże rozpadliny jej, boć się chwieje.
Thou hast shaken the land—hast rent it, Heal thou the fractures thereof—for it hath tottered:
3 Okazywałeś ludowi twemu przykre rzeczy, napoiłeś nas winem zawrotu.
Thou hast suffered thy people to see hardship, Thou hast let them drink the wine of confusion.
4 Ale teraz dałeś chorągiew tym, którzy się ciebie boją, aby ją wynieśli dla prawdy twej. (Sela)
Thou hadst given—to them that revere thee—a banner, to float aloft, Because of [thy] faithfulness. (Selah)

That thy beloved ones may be delivered, Save thou with thine own right hand—and answer us.
6 Bóg ci mówił w świętobliwości swojej; przeto się rozweselę, rozdzielę Sychem, i dolinę Sukkotską pomierzę.
God, hath spoken in his holiness—I will exult! I will apportion Shechem, And, the Vale of Succoth, will I measure out;
7 Mojeć jest Galaad, mój i Manases, i Efraim moc głowy mojej; Juda zakonodawcą moim.
Mine, is Gilead—and mine, Manasseh, But, Ephraim, is the defence, of my head, Judah, is my commander’s staff;
8 Moab miednicą do umywania mego; na Edoma wrzucę buty moje; ty, Palestyno! wykrzykaj nademną.
Moab, is my wash-bowl, Upon Edom, will I throw my shoe, Over Philistia! raise shout of triumph.
9 Któż mię wprowadzi do miasta obronnego? kto mię przyprowadzi aż do Edom?
Who will conduct me to a fortified city? Who will lead me as far as Edom!
10 Izali nie ty, o Boże! któryś nas był odrzucił, a nie wychodziłeś, Boże! z wojskami naszemi?
Is it not, thou, O God?—thou hast rejected us! And wilt thou not go forth, O God, with our hosts?
11 Dajże nam ratunek w utrapieniu; boć omylny ratunek ludzki.
Grant us help out of distress, For, vain, is the deliverance of man:
12 W Bogu mężnie sobie poczynać będziemy, a on podepcze nieprzyjaciół naszych.
In God, we shall do valiantly, He himself, therefore, will tread down our adversaries.
