1 A Ijob odpowiadając rzekł:

Then answered Job, and said,

2 Jakożeś ratował tego, który nie ma mocy? a jakoś wybawił ramię, które nie ma siły?

What assistance hast thou given to the powerless? [how] hast thou helped the arm without strength?

3 Jakążeś dał radę temu, co nie ma mądrości? Azaś go samej rzeczy gruntownie nie wyuczył?

How hast thou counselled the unwise? and what sound wisdom hast thou made known so plentifully?

4 Komużeś powiedział te słowa? Czyjże duch wyszedł od ciebie?

To whom hast thou told words? and whose spirit came from thee?

5 I martwe rzeczy rodzą się pod wodami, i obywatele ich.

The departed are called into being beneath the waters, and their inhabitants.

6 Odkryte są przepaści przed nim, a nie ma przykrycia zatracenie. (Sheol h7585)

Naked is the nether world before him, and there is no covering for the place of corruption. (Sheol h7585)

7 Rozciągnął północy nad miejscem próżnem, a ziemię zawiesił na niczem.

He stretched out the north over empty space; he suspended the earth on nothing;

8 Zawiązuje wody na obłokach swoich, a nie rwie się obłok pod nimi.

He bound up the waters in his clouds; and the cloud bursteth not under their weight;

9 Zatrzymuje stolicę swoję, rozpostarłszy nad nią obłok swój.

He closed up the surface of his throne, spreading over it his cloud;

10 Położył granice wodom, aż weźmie koniec światłość i ciemność.

A fixed limit he compassed off over the face of the waters, for the division of the light and darkness.

11 Słupy niebieskie trzęsą się, i chwieją się na gromienie jego.

The pillars of heaven tremble greatly, and are astounded at his rebuke.

12 Mocą swą dzieli morze, a roztropnością swą uśmierza nawałności jego.

By his power he split in pieces the sea, and by his understanding he crushed [its] pride:

13 Duchem swym niebiosa przyozdobił, a ręka jego stworzyła węża skrętnego.

By his breath the heavens [acquired] beauty; his hand hath created the flying serpent.

14 Oto teć są tylko części dróg jego, lecz i ta trocha niewybadana, cośmy słyszeli o nim, a grzmot wielkiej możności jego któż zrozumie?

Lo, these are ends of his ways; for how slight a whisper is heard [by us] of him! but the thunder of his mighty deeds who can understand?
