< Iyyoob 3 >
1 Kana irratti Iyyoob afaan isaa banatee guyyaa itti dhalate abaare.
After this Job has opened his mouth, and reviles his day.
And Job answers and says:
3 “Guyyaan ani itti dhaladhe haa badu; halkan, ‘Ilmi dhalate!’ jedhame sunis haa badu.
“Let the day perish in which I am born, And the night that has said: A man-child has been conceived.
4 Guyyaan sun haa dukkanaaʼu; Waaqni ol gubbaadhaa isa hin ilaalin; ifnis itti hin ifin.
That day—let it be darkness, Do not let God require it from above, Nor let light shine on it.
5 Dukkannii fi gaaddidduun guddaan isa haa dhaalan; duumessi isa irra haa buʼu; ifa isaa dukkanni haa liqimsu.
Let darkness and death-shade redeem it, Let a cloud dwell on it, Let them terrify it as the most bitter of days.
6 Halkan sana dukkanni limixiin haa qabatu; guyyoota waggaa keessa jiranittis hin dabalamin yookaan jiʼoota kam iyyuu keessatti hin lakkaaʼamin.
That night—let thick darkness take it, Let it not be united to days of the year, Let it not come into the number of months.
7 Halkan sun haa maseenu; ililleenis keessatti hin dhagaʼamin.
Behold! That night—let it be barren, Let no singing come into it.
8 Warri Lewaataanin kakaasuuf qophaaʼan, kanneen guyyoota abaaran guyyaa sana haa abaaran.
Let the cursers of day mark it, Who are ready to wake up Leviathan.
9 Bakkalchi barii kan guyyaa sanaa haa dukkanaaʼu; ifa eeggatee haa dhabu; boruu baqaqus hin argin.
Let the stars of its twilight be dark, Let it wait for light, and there is none, And let it not look on the eyelids of the dawn.
10 Inni ija koo duraa rakkina dhoksuuf, balbala gadameessa haadha kootii natti hin cufneetii.
Because it has not shut the doors Of the womb that was mine! And hide misery from my eyes.
11 “Ani maaliif gadameessa haadha kootii keessatti hin badin? Maaliifis yeruman garaa keessaa baʼetti hin duʼin?
Why do I not die from the womb? I have come forth from the belly and gasp!
12 Jilbawwan na simatan, harmawwan ani hodhus maaliif achitti argaman?
Why have knees been before me? And what [are] breasts, that I suck?
13 Ani silaa yoona nagaan nan ciisa; rafees nan boqodhan tureetii;
For now, I have lain down, and am quiet, I have slept—then there is rest to me,
14 moototaa fi gorsitoota addunyaa warra iddoowwan amma diigamanii jiran ofii isaaniitiif qopheeffatan wajjin,
With kings and counselors of earth, These building ruins for themselves.
15 bulchitoota warqee qaban, kanneen manneen isaanii meetiidhaan guutatan wajjin nan boqodhan ture.
Or with princes—they have gold, They are filling their houses [with] silver.
16 Yookaan ani maaliifin akkuma mucaa duʼee garaa baʼee, akkuma daaʼima ifa guyyaa hin arginiitti hin awwaalamin?
(Or I am not as a hidden abortion, As infants—they have not seen light.)
17 Achittis namoonni hamoonni jeequu ni dhiisu; dadhaboonnis achitti ni boqotu.
There the wicked have ceased troubling, And there the wearied rest in power.
18 Boojiʼamtoonni nagaadhaan walii wajjin jiraatu; waca cunqursitoota isaaniis hin dhagaʼan.
Together prisoners have been at ease, They have not heard the voice of an exactor,
19 Xinnaa fi guddaan achi jira; garbichis gooftaa isaa jalaa bilisoomeera.
Small and great [are] the same there. And a servant [is] free from his lord.
20 “Maaliif warra gadadoo keessa jiraniif ifni warra lubbuun isaanii gadditeef immoo jireenyi kennama?
Why does He give light to the miserable, and life to the bitter soul?
21 Warra duʼa hawwanii dhabaniif warra qabeenya dhokfame caalaa duʼa barbaadaniif
Who are waiting for death, and it is not, And they seek it above hid treasures.
22 warra yommuu awwaalamuu gaʼanitti gammachuun guutamanii ililchaniif jireenyi maaliif kennama?
Who are glad—to joy, They rejoice when they find a grave.
23 Nama karaan isaa duraa dhokateef nama Waaqni dallaa itti marse jireenyi maaliif kennama?
To a man whose way has been hidden, And whom God shuts up?
24 Gaddi buddeena naa taʼeera; aaduun koos akka bishaanii dhangalaʼa.
For before my food, my sighing comes, And my roarings [are] poured out as waters.
25 Wanni ani sodaadhe natti dhufeera; wanni na naasisus narra gaʼeera.
For I feared a fear and it meets me, And what I was afraid of comes to me.
26 Ani nagaa hin qabu; tasgabbiis hin qabu; jeequmsa malee boqonnaa hin qabu.”
I was not safe—nor was I quiet—Nor was I at rest—and trouble comes!”
