1 Bildaad Shuhaahichi akkana jedhee deebise:
Then Bildad the Shuhite spoke up and said,
2 “Isin haasaa kana yoom fixxu? Mee qalbeeffadhaa; ergasii dubbachuu dandeenya.
“How long will you go on talking, hunting for the right words to say? Talk sense if you want us to reply!
3 Nu maaliif akka looniitti hedamna? Maaliifis fuula kee duratti akka gowwaatti ilaalamna?
Do you think we're dumb animals? Do we look stupid to you?
4 Ati kan aariidhaan of ciccirtu, lafti sababii keetiif duwwaatti haftii? Yookaan kattaan iddoo isaatii ni buqqifamaa?
You tear yourself apart with your anger. Do you think the earth has to be abandoned, or the mountains moved, just because of you?
5 “Ibsaan nama hamaa ni dhaama; arrabni ibidda isaa ifa hin kennu.
It's certain that the life of the wicked will end like a lamp that is snuffed out—their flame will shine no more.
6 Ifni dunkaana isaa keessaa ni dukkanaaʼa; ibsaan isa bira jirus ni dhaama.
The light in their home goes out, the lamp hanging above is extinguished.
7 Jabinni tarkaanfii isaa ni dadhaba; malli isaas isuma kuffisa.
Instead of taking strong strides they stumble, and their own plans cause them to fall.
8 Miilli isaa kiyyoo keessa isa buusa; inni boolla kiyyeeffame irra ni joora.
Their own feet trip them up and they are caught in a net; as they walk along they fall into a pit.
9 Kiyyoon kottee isaa qaba; futtaasaanis jabeessee isa qaba.
A trap grabs them by the heel; a snare tightens around them.
10 Lafa irra funyoon isaaf dhokfameera; karaa isaa irras kiyyoon kaaʼameera.
A noose is hidden on the ground for them; a rope is stretched across the path to trip them.
11 Naasuun karaa hundaan isa sodaachisa; faana isaa buʼees isa ariʼa.
Terrors scare the wicked, coming at them from every side, chasing them, biting at their heels.
12 Badiisni afaan itti banateera; balaanis qophaaʼee jiguu isaa eeggata.
Hunger robs them of strength; disaster waits for them when they fall.
13 Gogaan isaa dhukkubaan nyaatamee dhuma; ilmi duʼaa hangaftichi harkaa fi miilla isaa nyaata.
Disease devours their skin; deadly disease consumes their limbs.
14 Inni dunkaana abdate keessaa buqqifamee gara mootii sodaatti geeffama.
They are torn from the homes they trusted in and taken to the king of terrors.
15 Waan kan isaa hin taʼinis dunkaana isaa keessa jiraata; dinyiin bobaʼus iddoo inni jiraatu irra faffacaʼa.
People they don't know will live in their homes; sulfur will be scattered where they used to live.
16 Jalaan hiddi isaa ni goga; irraan immoo dameen isaa ni coollaga.
They wither away, roots below and branches above;
17 Yaadannoon isaa lafa irraa ni bada; maqaan isaas lafa irraa ni dhabama.
the memory of them fades from the earth; nobody remembers their names any more.
18 Inni ifa keessaa gara dukkanaatti darbatama; addunyaa irraas ni dhabama.
They are thrown out of light into darkness, driven from the world.
19 Inni saba isaa gidduutti ijoollee yookaan sanyii, biyya duraan jiraate keessatti hambaa hin qabaatu.
They have no children or descendants among their people, and no survivors where they used to live.
20 Namoonni dhiʼaa waaʼee isaa dhagaʼanii rifatu; warri baʼaas sodaadhaan guutamu.
People of the west are appalled at what happens to them. People of the east are shocked.
21 Iddoon jireenya nama hamaa, dhugumaan akkana taʼa; iddoon nama Waaqa hin beeknees kanuma taʼa.”
This is what happens to the homes of the wicked, to the places of those who reject God.”
