1 Eg elskar Herren, for han høyrer mi røyst, mine bøner.
I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
2 For han hev bøygt sitt øyra til meg, og alle mine dagar vil eg kalla på honom.
Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
3 Daude-band hadde spent seg um meg, helheims trengsla hadde funne meg; naud og sorg fann eg. (Sheol h7585)
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. (Sheol h7585)
4 Men eg kalla på Herrens namn: «Å Herre, berga mi sjæl!»
Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I plead to you, deliver my soul.
5 Herren er nådig og rettferdig, og vår Gud er miskunnsam.
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6 Herren varar dei einfalde, eg var ein arming, og han frelste meg.
The LORD perserves the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
7 Kom attende, mi sjæl, til di ro! for Herren hev gjort vel imot deg.
Return unto your rest, O my soul; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
8 Ja, du fria mi sjæl frå dauden, mitt auga frå tåror, min fot frå fall.
For you have delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
9 Eg skal vandra for Herrens åsyn i landi åt dei livande.
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10 Eg trudde, for eg tala; eg var i stor plåga.
I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
11 Eg sagde i min ræddhug: «Kvar mann er ein ljugar!»
I said in my haste, All men are liars.
12 Kva skal eg gjeva Herren att for alle hans velgjerningar imot meg?
What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
13 Eg vil lyfta frelse-staupet, og Herrens namn vil eg påkalla.
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
14 Mine lovnader vil eg halda for Herren, og det for augo på alt hans folk.
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
15 Dyr er i Herrens augo dauden åt hans heilage.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
16 Å Herre, eg er din tenar, veit du, eg er din tenar, son åt di tenestkvinna; du hev løyst mine band.
O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have loosed my bonds.
17 Til deg vil eg ofra takkoffer, og Herrens namn vil eg påkalla.
I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
18 Mine lovnader vil eg halda for Herren, og det for augo på alt hans folk,
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
19 i fyregardarne til Herrens hus, midt i deg, Jerusalem. Halleluja!
In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise all of you the LORD.
