यहोशू 2
1 नूनका छोरा यहोशूले शित्तीमबाट दुई जना मानिसलाई जासुसको रूपमा पठाए । तिनले भने, “जाओ, त्यो भूमिलाई हेर, विशेष गरी यरीहोलाई हेर ।” तिनीहरू गए र राहब नाउँ गरेकी वेश्याकहाँ आए र तिनीहरू त्यहीँ बास बसे ।
Then did Joshua son of Nun, send out from The Acacias, two men to spy out silently, saying, Go view the land, and Jericho. So they came, and entered the house of a harlot, whose name was Rahab, and lay there.
2 यरीहोका राजालाई यसो भनियो, “हेर्नुहोस्, यस भूमिको भेद पत्ता लगाउन इस्राएलका मानिसहरू यहाँ आएका छन् ।”
And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, —Lo! men, have come in hither to-night of the sons of Israel to search out the land.
3 यरीहोका राजाले राहबकहाँ खबर पठाए र भने, “तिमीकहाँ आउने ती मानिसहरूलाई बाहिर लेऊ, जो तिम्रो घरमा प्रवेश गरेका थिए, किनभने तिनीहरू सारा भूमिको जासुस गर्न आएका छन् ।”
So the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, —Bring forth the men that are come in unto thee who have entered thy house, for, to search out all the land, have they come.
4 तर ती महिलाले ती दुई जना मानिसलाई लगेर लुकाएकी थिइन् । तिनले भनिन्, “हो, मानिसहरू मकहाँ आएका थिए, तर तिनीहरू कहाँबाट आएका थिए, मलाई थाहा भएन ।
And the woman took the two men and hid them, —and said: Even so, the men did come in unto me, but I knew not from whence they were;
5 तिनीहरू सहरको प्रवेशद्वार बन्द गर्ने समय हुँदा साँझपख गए । तिनीहरू कता गए मलाई थाहा भएन । तपाईंहरू छिटो-छिटो जानुभयो भने सम्भवतः तपाईंहरूले तिनीहरूलाई भेट्टाउनु हुनेछ ।”
and it came to pass, as the gate was about to be shut in the darkness, that, the men, went out, I know not whither the men went, —pursue them quickly for ye shall overtake them.
6 तर तिनले तिनीहरूलाई कौसीमा लगेकी थिइन् र तिनले कौसीमाथि थुपारेकी सनको डाँठहरूमुनि लुकाएकी थिइन् ।
But, she, had taken them up to the roof, —and concealed them with the stalks of flax which she had laid in order for herself upon the roof.
7 त्यसैले ती मानिसहरू यर्दनको जाँघरहरूतिर जाने बाटो हुँदै तिनीहरूको पिछा गरे । ती पिछा गर्नेहरू जाने बित्तिकै प्रवेशद्वार बन्द गरियो ।
So, the men, pursued them by way of the Jordan unto the fords, —the gate being shut as soon as they who pursued them had gone forth.
8 ती मानिसहरू राति सुत्नुअगि नै तिनी कौसीमाथि तिनीहरूकहाँ आइन् ।
And, ere yet they slept, she, went up unto them, upon the roof;
9 तिनले भनिन्, “मलाई थाहा छ, परमप्रभुले यो भूमि तपाईंहरूलाई दिनुभएको छ र तपाईंहरूको डर हामीमाथि आइपरेको छ । यो भूमिमा बस्ने सबै मानिस तपाईंहरूको सामु शिथिल हुने छन् ।
and said unto the men, I know that Yahweh hath given unto you the land, —and that the terror of you hath fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land, have melted away, from before you.
10 तपाईंहरू मिश्रबाट आउनुहुँदा परमप्रभुले लाल समुद्रको पानी कसरी सुकाउनुभयो भनी हामीले सुनेका छौँ । तपाईंहरूले यर्दन पारिका दुई जना एमोरी राजाहरू सीहोन र ओगलाई के गर्नुभयो भनेर पनि हामीले सुनेका छौँ ।
For we have heard how Yahweh, dried up, the waters of the Red Sea from before you, when ye came forth out of Egypt, —and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites who were over the Jordan unto Sihon and unto Og, whom ye devoted to destruction;
11 हामीले यो सुन्ने बित्तिकै हाम्रा हृदय शिथिल भए, कसैसँग पनि साहस रहेन, किनभने परमप्रभु तपाईंहरूका परमेश्वर नै माथि स्वर्गमा र तल पृथ्वीमा परमेश्वर हुनुहुन्छ ।
and, when we heard, then did our heart melt, and there rose up no longer any spirit in any man because of you, —for, as for Yahweh your God, he, is God—in the heavens above, and upon the earth beneath.
12 बिन्ती छ, मैले जसरी तपाईंहरूलाई दया गरेको छु त्यसरी नै तपाईंहरूले पनि मेरो पिताको घरानालाई दयापूर्वक व्यवहार गर्नुहुने छ भनी परमप्रभुको नाउँमा शपथ खानुहोस् । मलाई एउटा चिन्ह दिनुहोस्,
Now, therefore I pray you, swear unto me by Yahweh, since I have dealt with you in lovingkindness, that, ye also, will deal with the house of my father in lovingkindness, and will give me a token of faithfulness,
13 कि तपाईंहरूले मेरा बुबा, आमा, दाजुभाइहरू, दिदी-बहिनीहरू र तिनीहरूका सबै परिवारको जीवन बचाउनुहुने छ र तपाईंहरूले हामीलाई मृत्युबाट जोगाउनुहुने छ ।
and will save alive my father and my mother, and my brethren and my sisters, and all that they have, —and will deliver our souls from death.
14 ती मानिसहरूले तिनलाई भने, “मृत्युसम्म नै तिमीहरूको जीवनको सट्टामा हाम्रो जीवन! यदि तिमीले हाम्रो कामबारे बताएनौ भने, जब परमप्रभुले यो भूमि हामीलाई दिनुहुने छ हामी तिमीसँग दयालु र विश्वासयोग्य हुने छौँ ।”
And the men said unto her, Our souls in your stead unto death, if ye utter not this our business, —so shall it be, when Yahweh shall give us the land, that we will deal with thee in lovingkindness and in faithfulness.
15 त्यसैले तिनले डोरीको सहायताले तिनीहरूलाई झ्यालबाट तल झारे । तिनी बसोवास गर्ने घर सहरको पर्खालभित्र नै बनाइएको थियो ।
And she let them down with a cord through the window, —for, her house, was within the wall of the rampart, and, within the rampart, she was dwelling.
16 तिनले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “पहाडतिर जानुहोस् र लुक्नुहोस्, नत्र पिछा गर्नेहरूले तपाईंहरूलाई भेट्टाउने छन् । पिछा गर्नेहरू नफर्केसम्म तिन दिनसम्म त्यहीँ लुक्नुहोस् । अनि आफ्नो बाटो लाग्नुहोस् ।”
And she said unto them—To the mountain, get you, lest the pursuers, fall in, with you, —and hide yourselves there, three days until the pursuers return, and, afterwards, shall ye go your way.
17 ती मानिसहरूले तिनलाई भने, “यदि तिमीले यो कुरा गरेनौ भने हामीले तिमीलाई गरेका प्रतिज्ञाहरू लागु हुने छैनन् ।
And the men said unto her, —Free, will we be from this thine oath which thou hast made us swear:
18 हामी यो भूमिमा आउँदा तिमीले हामी जुन झ्यालबाट झरेका थियौँ त्यहीँ नै यो रातो डोरी बाँध्नुपर्छ र तिमीले तिम्रा बुबा, आमा, तिम्रा दाजुभाइहरू र तिम्रा बुबाका सबै घरानालाई घरभित्र ल्याउनुपर्छ ।
Lo! when we are coming into the land, this cord of crimson thread, must thou bind in the window by which thou didst let us down, and, thy father and thy mother and thy brethren and all the household of thy father, must thou gather together unto thee unto the house.
19 तिम्रो घरबाहिर बाटोतिर जानेहरूको रगत तिनीहरूको शिरमाथि पर्ने छ र हामी दोषरहित हुने छौँ । तर घरमा तिमीसँगै रहने कुनै माथि हात लगाइयो भने, त्यसको रगत हाम्रो शिरमा पर्ने छ ।
And it shall be, whosoever shall go forth out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood, shall be on his own head and, we, shall be free, —but, whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood, shall be on our heads, if a, hand, be upon him.
20 तर यदि तिमीले हाम्रा कामहरूबारे बतायौ भने, तिमीले हामीलाई खान लगाएको शपथबाट हामी मुक्त हुने छौँ ।
Or, if thou utter this our business, then shall we be free from this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
21 राहबले जवाफ दिए, “तपाईंहरूले भन्नुभएबमोजिम नै होस् ।” तिनले तिनीहरूलाई पठाए र तिनीहरू गए । अनि तिनले झ्यालमा त्यो रातो डोरी बाँधिन् ।
And she said—According to your words, so, shall it be. Thus sent she them away and they departed, —and she bound the crimson cord in the window.
22 तिनीहरू गए र पहाडतिर गए अनि तिनीहरूको पिछा गर्नेहरू नफर्केसम्म तिनीहरू तिन दिनसम्म त्यहीँ नै बसे । पिछा गर्नेहरूले बाटोमा सबैतिर खोजे र केही पनि भेट्टाएनन् ।
And they went and came into the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers had returned, —so the pursuers, made search, throughout all the way, but found them not.
23 ती दुई जना मानिस फर्के र नूनका छोरा यहोशूकहाँ आए र तिनीहरूले तिनीहरूमाथि आइपरेका सबै कुरा तिनलाई बताए ।
And the two men returned and came down out of the mountain, and crossed over and came unto Joshua, son of Nun, —and recounted to him all that had befallen them;
24 तिनीहरूले यहोशूलाई भने, “साँच्चै, यो भूमि परमप्रभुले हामीलाई दिनुभएको छ । त्यो भूमिका सबै बासिन्दा हाम्रो कारणले शिथिल भइरहेका छन् ।”
and they said unto Joshua, Yahweh, hath delivered, into our hand all the land, —moreover also all the inhabitants of the land, have melted away, from before us.
