Amahubo 91
1 Lowo ohlala ekusithekeni koPhezukonke uzaphumula emthunzini kaSomandla.
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, Under the shadow of the Almighty, will tarry,
2 Ngizakuthi kuThixo, “Uyisiphephelo sami lenqaba yami, uNkulunkulu wami, engithemba kuye.”
Saying of Yahweh—My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I will trust.
3 Ngempela uzakuphephisa emjibileni womthiyi lasesifeni esibi esibulalayo.
For, he, will rescue thee, From the snare of the fowler, From the destructive pestilence.
4 Uzakusibekela ngezinsiba zakhe, uzuze isiphephelo ngaphansi kwamaphiko akhe; ukuthembeka kwakhe kuzakuba yisihlangu sakho lenqaba yakho.
With his pinion, will he cover thee, And, under his wings, shalt thou seek refuge, A shield and buckler, is his faithfulness.
5 Awuyikwesaba umnyama wobusuku, loba umtshoko ontweza emini,
Thou shalt not be afraid, Of the dread of the night, Of the arrow that flieth by day;
6 kumbe ingozi ehahabela emnyameni, kumbe umkhuhlane obhubhisayo emini enkulu.
Of the pestilence that, in darkness, doth walk, Of the plague that layeth waste at noonday.
7 Abazinkulungwane bangawa eceleni lakho; itshumi lezinkulungwane esandleni sakho sokunene, kodwa kakusoze kusondele kuwe.
There shall fall, at thy side, a thousand, Yea, myriads, at thy right hand, Unto thee, shall it not come nigh;
8 Uzaphosa nje amehlo akho ubukele ubone ukujeziswa kwababi.
Save only, with thine own eyes, shalt thou discern, And, the recompense of the lawless, shalt thou see.
9 Ungenza oPhezukonke abe likhaya lakho yena uThixo oyisiphephelo sami
Because, thou, [hast made] Yahweh, my refuge, —The Most High, thou hast made thy dwelling-place,
10 lapho-ke akulangozi engakuwela, akulamonakalo ozasondela ethenteni lakho.
There shall not be sent unto thee misfortune, Nor shall, plague, come near into thy tent;
11 Ngoba uzayala izingilosi zakhe ngawe zikulinde kuzozonke izindlela zakho;
For, his messengers, will he charge concerning thee, To keep thee, in all thy ways;
12 zizakuphakamisa ezandleni zazo, ukuze ungakhubeki elitsheni.
On hands, will they bear thee up, Lest thou strike, against a stone, thy foot;
13 Uzanyathela isilwane lephimpi; uzasigxoba isilwane esikhulu lenyoka.
On the lion and adder, shalt thou tread, Shalt trample on young lion and crocodile.
14 “Ngoba uyangithanda,” kutsho uThixo, “ngizamkhulula; ngizamvikela, ngoba uyalinaka ibizo lami.
Because, on me, he hath set firm his love, Therefore will I deliver him, I will set him on high, Because he hath known my Name;
15 Uzangibiza, ngimphendule; ngizakuba laye ekuhluphekeni, ngizamkhulula ngimenzele udumo.
He shall call me, and I will answer him, With him, will, I, be, in distress, I will rescue him, and will honour him;
16 Ngizamsuthisa ngempilo ende ngimtshengise insindiso yami.”
With length of days, will I satisfy him, And will show him my salvation.
