1 Na Sezarea, ezalaki na moto moko oyo kombo na ye ezalaki « Kornei; » azalaki mokonzi ya basoda oyo babengamaka « mampinga ya Itali. »
And there was a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion from a band called Italian,
2 Kornei elongo na bato nyonso ya libota na ye bazalaki komipesa na makambo ya Nzambe mpe kotosa Nzambe; azalaki kosunga bato oyo bazalaki kati na bosenga ya ndenge na ndenge mpe kosambela Nzambe tango nyonso.
pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,
3 Mokolo moko, na ngonga pene ya misato sima na midi, azwaki emoniseli; amonaki na polele anjelu moko ya Nzambe koya epai na ye mpe koloba na ye: — Kornei!
he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, 'Cornelius;'
4 Kornei atalaki ye na somo mpe atunaki: — Nkolo, likambo nini? Anjelu azongisaki: — Mabondeli na yo mpe masungi oyo opesaka epai ya babola emati liboso ya Nzambe, mpe akanisi yango.
and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, 'What is it, Lord?' And he said to him, 'Thy prayers and thy kind acts came up for a memorial before God,
5 Sik’oyo, tinda bato, na Jafa, mpo bakende kobenga Simona oyo kombo na ye mosusu ezali « Petelo; »
and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,
6 azali kovanda lokola mopaya kati na ndako ya Simona, mobongisi baposo ya banyama, oyo ndako na ye ezali pene ya ebale monene.
this one doth lodge with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea; this one shall speak to thee what it behoveth thee to do.'
7 Tango kaka anjelu oyo asololaki na ye akendeki, Kornei abengaki basali mibale kati na basali na ye, mpe soda moko oyo azalaki komipesa na makambo ya Nzambe, kati na basoda oyo bazalaki kosalela ye.
And when the messenger who is speaking to Cornelius went away, having called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier of those waiting on him continually,
8 Ayebisaki bango makambo nyonso oyo ekomelaki ye mpe atindaki bango na Jafa.
and having declared to them all things, he sent them to Joppa.
9 Mokolo oyo elandaki, na ngonga pene ya midi, wana bato oyo Kornei atindaki bazalaki nanu na nzela mpe bakomaki pene ya Jafa, Petelo amataki na veranda oyo ezalaki na likolo ya ndako mpo na kosambela.
And on the morrow, as these are proceeding on the way, and are drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour,
10 Ayokaki nzala mpe azalaki na posa ya kolia, mpe wana bazalaki nanu kobongisela ye bilei, akweyaki na Molimo.
and he became very hungry, and wished to eat; and they making ready, there fell upon him a trance,
11 Amonaki Likolo efungwami, mpe eloko moko lokola elamba monene basimba na basonge na yango minei ezali kokita na mabele.
and he doth behold the heaven opened, and descending unto him a certain vessel, as a great sheet, bound at the four corners, and let down upon the earth,
12 Kati na yango, ezalaki na lolenge nyonso ya banyama ya mabele, oyo ezali na makolo minei; ya banyama oyo etambolaka na libumu mpe ya bandeke ya likolo.
in which were all the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the heaven,
13 Bongo mongongo moko elobaki na ye: — Petelo, telema. Boma mpe lia.
and there came a voice unto him: 'Having risen, Peter, slay and eat.'
14 Petelo azongisaki: — Te, Nkolo! Natikala nanu kolia te eloko ya mbindo to ya bosoto.
And Peter said, 'Not so, Lord; because at no time did I eat anything common or unclean;'
15 Mongongo yango elobaki na ye, mpo na mbala ya mibale: — Eloko nyonso oyo Nzambe akomisi peto, yo, komona yango mbindo te!
and [there is] a voice again a second time unto him: 'What God did cleanse, thou, declare not thou common;'
16 Esalemaki bongo mbala misato, mpe eloko yango elimwaki kati na Likolo.
and this was done thrice, and again was the vessel received up to the heaven.
17 Petelo akamwaki mingi mpe akomaki komituna ndimbola ya emoniseli oyo awuti kozwa. Kaka na tango yango, batindami ya Kornei bamonaki ndako ya Simona, oyo bazalaki koluka, mpe batelemaki na ekuke.
And as Peter was perplexed in himself what the vision that he saw might be, then, lo, the men who have been sent from Cornelius, having made inquiry for the house of Simon, stood at the gate,
18 Babelelaki mpe batunaki soki ezali kuna nde Simona avandaka, Simona oyo kombo na ye mosusu ezali « Petelo. »
and having called, they were asking if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, doth lodge here?
19 Wana Petelo azalaki kaka komitungisa mpo na emoniseli oyo awuti kozwa, Molimo alobaki na ye: — Simona, bato misato bazali koluka yo.
And Peter thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, 'Lo, three men do seek thee;
20 Telema mpe kita. Kende elongo na bango, kotia tembe te, pamba te ngai nde natindi bango.
but having risen, go down and go on with them, nothing doubting, because I have sent them;'
21 Petelo akitaki mpe alobaki na bato yango: — Ngai oyo! Ezali ngai nde bozali koluka. Boyei mpo na nini?
and Peter having come down unto the men who have been sent from Cornelius unto him, said, 'Lo, I am he whom ye seek, what [is] the cause for which ye are present?'
22 Bato yango bazongisaki: — Towuti epai ya Kornei, mokonzi ya basoda; azali moto ya sembo mpe atosaka Nzambe, mpe Bayuda nyonso bazali kotatola bolamu na tina na ye. Anjelu ya bule ayebisaki ye ete abengisa yo kati na ndako na ye mpo ete ayoka makambo oyo ozali na yango ya koloba na ye.
And they said, 'Cornelius, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God, well testified to, also, by all the nation of the Jews, was divinely warned by a holy messenger to send for thee, to his house, and to hear sayings from thee.'
23 Petelo akotisaki bango na ndako mpe apesaki bango esika ya kolala. Mokolo oyo elandaki, Petelo akendeki elongo na bango, mpe ndambo ya bandimi balandaki ye wuta na Jafa.
Having called them in, therefore, he lodged them, and on the morrow Peter went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him,
24 Sima na mokolo moko, bakomaki na Sezarea. Kornei azalaki kozela bango, mpe abengisaki bato ya libota na ye mpe balingami na ye mpo ete bazala lisanga.
and on the morrow they did enter into Caesarea; and Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kindred and near friends,
25 Tango Petelo alingaki kokota na ndako, Kornei apusanaki pene na ye, amibwakaki na makolo na ye mpo na kogumbamela ye.
and as it came that Peter entered in, Cornelius having met him, having fallen at [his] feet, did bow before [him];
26 Kasi Petelo atelemisaki ye; alobaki: — Telema! Ngai mpe nazali kaka moto.
and Peter raised him, saying, 'Stand up; I also myself am a man;'
27 Wana bazalaki kosolola, Petelo akotaki na ndako mpe akutaki bato ebele basangani.
and talking with him he went in, and doth find many having come together.
28 Alobaki na bango: — Boyebi malamu ete mibeko na biso epekisa Moyuda kosangana na Mopagano to kokende kotala Mopagano; kasi Nzambe alakisi ngai ete nasengeli te komona moto moko mbindo to bosoto.
And he said unto them, 'Ye know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to keep company with, or to come unto, one of another race, but to me God did shew to call no man common or unclean;
29 Yango wana, tango botindaki bato kobenga ngai, natunaki ata motuna moko te mpo na koya. Sik’oyo, nakoki koyeba tina nini bobengeli ngai?
therefore also without gainsaying I came, having been sent for; I ask, therefore, for what matter ye did send for me?'
30 Kornei azongisaki: — Eleki mikolo misato, na ngonga lokola oyo, ngonga ya misato sima na midi, nazalaki kosambela kati na ndako na ngai. Mbala moko, moto moko alata bilamba ya kongenga makasi atelemaki liboso na ngai
And Cornelius said, 'Four days ago till this hour, I was fasting, and [at] the ninth hour praying in my house, and, lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31 mpe alobaki: « Kornei, Nzambe ayoki mabondeli na yo mpe akanisi masungi oyo opesaka epai ya babola.
and he said, Cornelius, thy prayer was heard, and thy kind acts were remembered before God;
32 Tinda bato, na Jafa, mpo bakende kobenga Simona oyo kombo na ye mosusu ezali Petelo; azali kovanda lokola mopaya kati na ndako ya Simona, mobongisi baposo ya banyama, oyo ndako na ye ezali pene ya ebale monene. »
send, therefore, to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; this one doth lodge in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea, who having come, shall speak to thee;
33 Yango wana, natindaki bato noki-noki epai na yo, mpe osali malamu ndenge oyei. Sik’oyo, biso nyonso tozali awa liboso ya Nzambe mpo na koyoka nyonso oyo Nkolo atindi yo koyebisa biso.
at once, therefore, I sent to thee; thou also didst do well, having come; now, therefore, are we all before God present to hear all things that have been commanded thee by God.'
34 Petelo azwaki maloba mpe alobaki: — Sik’oyo, nasosoli solo ete Nzambe atalaka bilongi te,
And Peter having opened his mouth, said, 'Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,
35 kasi andimaka bato ya bikolo nyonso, oyo batosaka Ye mpe basalaka makambo ya sembo.
but in every nation he who is fearing Him, and is working righteousness, is acceptable to Him;
36 Atindaki Liloba na Ye epai ya bana ya Isalaele mpo na kosakola Sango Malamu ya kimia, na nzela ya Yesu-Klisto oyo azali Nkolo ya bato nyonso.
the word that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming good news — peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all, )
37 Boyebi makambo oyo esalemaki na Yuda mobimba, kobanda na Galile, sima na libatisi oyo Yoane ateyaki:
ye — ye have known; — the word that came throughout all Judea, having begun from Galilee, after the baptism that John preached;
38 ndenge nini Nzambe atondisaki Yesu ya Nazareti na Molimo Mosantu mpe na nguya, mpe ndenge nini atambolaki bipai na bipai mpo na kosala bolamu mpe kobikisa bato nyonso oyo bazalaki na se ya nguya ya Satana, pamba te Nzambe azalaki elongo na Ye.
Jesus who [is] from Nazareth — how God did anoint him with the Holy Spirit and power; who went through, doing good, and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him;
39 Biso, tozali batatoli ya makambo nyonso oyo Yesu asalaki kati na mokili ya Bayuda mpe kati na Yelusalemi. Babomaki Ye mpe babakaki Ye na ekulusu,
and we — we are witnesses of all things that he did, both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem, — whom they did slay, having hanged upon a tree.
40 kasi Nzambe asekwisaki Ye kati na bakufi, na mokolo ya misato, mpe asalaki ete amonana lisusu.
'This one God did raise up the third day, and gave him to become manifest,
41 Amonanaki na bato nyonso te, kasi na batatoli oyo Nzambe apona wuta kala, na biso oyo toliaki mpe tomelaki elongo na Ye, sima na Ye kosekwa kati na bakufi.
not to all the people, but to witnesses, to those having been chosen before by God — to us who did eat with [him], and did drink with him, after his rising out of the dead;
42 Apesaki biso mitindo ya koteya bato mpe kotatola ete Ye nde Nzambe apona lokola Mosambisi ya bato ya bomoi mpe bakufi.
and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify fully that it is he who hath been ordained by God judge of living and dead —
43 Basakoli nyonso batatolaki na tina na Ye ete moto nyonso oyo akondimela Ye akozwa bolimbisi ya masumu na nzela ya Kombo na Ye.
to this one do all the prophets testify, that through his name every one that is believing in him doth receive remission of sins.'
44 Wana Petelo azalaki nanu koloba, Molimo Mosantu akitelaki bato nyonso oyo bazalaki koyoka Liloba.
While Peter is yet speaking these sayings, the Holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word,
45 Bandimi oyo bazalaki bakatama ngenga, oyo bayaki elongo na Petelo wuta na Jafa, bakamwaki mingi komona ete Nzambe asopi likabo ya Molimo Mosantu epai ya bato ya bikolo ya bapaya.
and those of the circumcision believing were astonished — as many as came with Peter — because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit hath been poured out,
46 Pamba te bayokaki bango koloba na nkota mosusu mpe kokumisa Nzambe. Bongo Petelo alobaki:
for they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.
47 — Solo, moto moko te akoki koboya ete bazwa libatisi ya mayi. Bazwi Molimo Mosantu ndenge kaka biso tozwaki.
Then answered Peter, 'The water is any one able to forbid, that these may not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit did receive — even as also we?'
48 Boye, Petelo apesaki mitindo ete babatisa bango na Kombo na Yesu-Klisto. Bongo, basengaki na Petelo ete avanda elongo na bango mpo na mwa mikolo.
he commanded them also to be baptized in the name of the Lord; then they besought him to remain certain days.
