< Psalmorum 85 >
1 in finem filiis Core psalmus benedixisti Domine terram tuam avertisti captivitatem Iacob
“To the chief musician, by the sons of Korach, a psalm.” Thou hast been favorable, O Lord, unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 remisisti iniquitates plebis tuae operuisti omnia peccata eorum diapsalma
Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered over all their sin. (Selah)
3 mitigasti omnem iram tuam avertisti ab ira indignationis tuae
Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast relinquished the fierceness of thy anger.
4 converte nos Deus salutum nostrarum et averte iram tuam a nobis
Return to us, O God of our salvation, and cause thy ill-will toward us to cease.
5 numquid in aeternum irasceris nobis aut extendes iram tuam a generatione in generationem
Wilt thou be wroth with us for ever? wilt thou extend thy anger from generation to generation?
6 Deus tu conversus vivificabis nos et plebs tua laetabitur in te
Wilt thou not [now] revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 ostende nobis Domine misericordiam tuam et salutare tuum da nobis
Show us thy kindness, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
8 audiam quid loquatur in me Dominus Deus quoniam loquetur pacem in plebem suam et super sanctos suos et in eos qui convertuntur ad cor
I will hear what God the Lord will speak; for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his pious ones: only let them not turn again to folly.
9 verumtamen prope timentes eum salutare ipsius ut inhabitet gloria in terra nostra
Surely, nigh is his salvation unto those that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.
10 misericordia et veritas obviaverunt sibi iustitia et pax osculatae sunt
Kindness and truth are met together: righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 veritas de terra orta est et iustitia de caelo prospexit
Truth will grow up out of the earth, and righteousness will look down from heaven.
12 etenim Dominus dabit benignitatem et terra nostra dabit fructum suum
Yea, the Lord will also give the good, and our land will yield its products.
13 iustitia ante eum ambulabit et ponet in via gressus suos
Righteousness will walk firmly before him, and will make [level] the way by its steps.
