< Psalmorum 16 >
1 tituli inscriptio ipsi David conserva me Domine quoniam in te speravi
Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for I trust in thee.
2 dixi Domino Dominus meus es tu quoniam bonorum meorum non eges
Thou [my soul] hast said to Jehovah, Thou art the Lord: my goodness [extendeth] not to thee; —
3 sanctis qui sunt in terra eius mirificavit mihi; omnes voluntates meas in eis
To the saints that are on the earth, and to the excellent [thou hast said], In them is all my delight.
4 multiplicatae sunt infirmitates eorum postea adceleraverunt non congregabo conventicula eorum de sanguinibus nec memor ero nominum eorum per labia mea
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another: their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, and I will not take up their names into my lips.
5 Dominus pars hereditatis meae et calicis mei tu es qui restitues hereditatem meam mihi
Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 funes ceciderunt mihi in praeclaris etenim hereditas mea praeclara est mihi
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 benedicam Domino qui tribuit mihi intellectum insuper et usque ad noctem increpaverunt me renes mei
I will bless Jehovah, who giveth me counsel; even in the nights my reins instruct me.
8 providebam Dominum in conspectu meo semper quoniam a dextris est mihi ne commovear
I have set Jehovah continually before me; because [he is] at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 propter hoc laetatum est cor meum et exultavit lingua mea insuper et caro mea requiescet in spe
Therefore my heart rejoiceth, and my glory exulteth; my flesh moreover shall dwell in hope.
10 quoniam non derelinques animam meam in inferno non dabis sanctum tuum videre corruptionem (Sheol )
For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol, neither wilt thou allow thy Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol )
11 notas mihi fecisti vias vitae adimplebis me laetitia cum vultu tuo delectatio in dextera tua usque in finem
Thou wilt make known to me the path of life: thy countenance is fulness of joy; at thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.
