Luke 6

One Sabbath Jesus was passing through the grainfields, and His disciples began to pick the heads of grain, rub them in their hands, and eat them.

But some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

He entered the house of God, took the consecrated bread and gave it to his companions, and ate what is lawful only for the priests to eat.”

Then Jesus declared, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

On another Sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered.
7 Kutu mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee tuh kena suk sripa elos in tukakunulak Jesus kac, ke ma inge elos tuni na lah Jesus el ac akkeyala mwet ke len Sabbath.
Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, the scribes and Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He would heal on the Sabbath.
8 Tuh Jesus el etu nunak lalos, ac el fahk nu sin mwet se ma ul paol, “Tuyak ac fahsru nu meet uh.” Mwet sac tuyak ac som tu insac.
But Jesus knew their thoughts and said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and stand among us.” So he got up and stood there.

Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”

And after looking around at all of them, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and it was restored.

But the scribes and Pharisees were filled with rage and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.

In those days Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and He spent the night in prayer to God.

When daylight came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated as apostles:
14 Simon (su el sang inel Peter) ac Andrew ma lel; James ac John, Philip ac Bartholomew,
Simon, whom He named Peter, and his brother Andrew; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;
15 Matthew ac Thomas, James wen natul Alphaeus, ac Simon mwet Zealot.
Matthew and Thomas; James son of Alphaeus and Simon called the Zealot;
16 Judas wen natul James, ac Judas Iscariot, su tuh forla tukakunulak tok.
Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
17 Ke Jesus el oatui liki fineol uh wi mwet sap lal, el tu yen tupasrpasr se wi sie u na lulap sin mwet lutlut lal. Oasr pac sie u lulap tukeni we su tuku liki acn Judea nufon ac Jerusalem, oayapa liki siti lun Tyre ac Sidon su oan sisken meoa uh.
Then Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of His disciples was there, along with a great number of people from all over Judea, Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon.
18 Mwet inge tuku in tuh lohng luti lal, oayapa in akkeyeyukla ke mas lalos. Elos su keok ke ngun fohkfok elos wi pac muta we ac akkeyeyukla.
They had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases, and those troubled by unclean spirits were healed.

The entire crowd was trying to touch Him, because power was coming from Him and healing them all.
20 Jesus el ngetang nu sin mwet lutlut lal ac fahk, “Insewowo kowos su sukasrup, Tuh Tokosrai lun God ma lowos!
Looking up at His disciples, Jesus said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 “Insewowo kowos su masrinsral inge, Tuh kowos fah kihp! “Insewowo kowos su tung inge, Tuh kowos fah israsr!
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
22 “Insewowo kowos ke mwet uh srungakowos, srikowosla, angon kowos, ac kunausla inewos ke sripen Wen nutin Mwet!
Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
23 Kowos in insewowo ke pacl ouinge uh, ac srosro ke engan, tuh yoklana ma lacne lowos inkusrao. Tuh mwet matu lalos oru oapana inge nu sin mwet palu su somla meet.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For their fathers treated the prophets in the same way.
24 “A we nu suwos su kasrup in pacl inge, Tuh kowos eis tari mwe insewowo lowos!
But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
25 “We nu suwos su kihp in pacl inge, Tuh kowos ac fah masrinsral! “Ac we nu suwos su israsr in pacl inge, Tuh kowos ac fah asor ac tung!
Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
26 “We nu suwos ke mwet nukewa kaskas wo keiwos, tuh mwet matu lalos elos oru oapana inge nu sin mwet palu kikiap su somla.”
Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers treated the false prophets in the same way.
27 “Tusruktu nga fahk nu suwos su lohng kas luk: Lungse mwet lokoalok lowos, ac oru wo nu selos su srungakowos.
But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28 Akinsewowoyalos su selngawi kowos, ac pre kaclos su oru koluk nu suwos.
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
29 Kutena mwet fin puokya la oalum, sang pac elan puokya layen ngia. Mwet se fin eisla coat lom, kom sang pac nuknuk fon lom an nu sel.
If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well.
30 Sang nu selos nukewa su siyuk sum ke kutena ma, ac mwet se fin eisla kutena ma lom, nimet siyuk elan sifil folokonot nu sum.
Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what is yours, do not demand it back.
31 Oru nu sin mwet ngia oapana ma kom lungse elos in oru nu sum.
Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32 “Kowos fin lungse mwet na ma lungse kowos uh, mwe insewowo fuka kowos nunku mu kowos ac eis kac? Finne mwet koluk uh, elos lungse pac mwet ma lungse elos!
If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.
33 Ac kowos fin oru wo nu sin mwet na ma oru wo nu suwos uh, mwe insewowo fuka kowos nunku mu kowos ac eis kac? Finne mwet koluk, elos oru pac ouingan!
If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same.
34 Ac kowos fin sang ma lowos in kasru na mwet ma kowos etu mu kowos in sifilpa eis selos uh, ya kowos nunku mu kowos ac eis mwe insewowo kac? Finne mwet koluk, elos sang pac kasru nu sin mwet koluk saya uh, elos in mau ku in sifilpa eis ke lupan na maelos sang ah!
And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.
35 In tia ouinge. A kowos in lungse mwet lokoalok lowos, ac oru wo nu selos; sang mwe kasru ac tia soano in sifil folokinyuk nu suwos. Ac tufah yohk ma lacne nu suwos, ac kowos ac fah tulik nutin God Fulatlana. Tuh El kulang nu sin mwet koluk su tia etu in sang kulo.
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
36 Kowos in pakoten oana ke Papa tomowos El pakoten.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
39 Ac Jesus el fahk nu selos pupulyuk se inge: “Sie mwet kun el tia ku in pwen sie pac mwet kun. El fin oru, eltal na kewa ac fah putatla nu in luf uh.
Jesus also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?
40 Wangin sie mwet lutlut fulat liki mwet luti lal; a kais sie mwet lutlut ke el aksafyela lutlut nukewa lal, el ac fah fulat oana mwet luti lal.
A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
41 “Efu ku kom tuni kutkut srisrik ke mutun mwet lim, ac tiana liye polosak in motom?
Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
42 Efu ku kom ku in fahk nu sin ma lim, ‘Ma lik, lela nga in kunesla kutkut se luin motom an,’ a kom tia kulun liye polosak in motom sifacna? Kom mwet wosounkas! Eisla meet polosak in motom an, na kom fah ku in liye kalem kutkut se ke mutun mwet lim.”
How can you say, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while you yourself fail to see the beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
43 “Soko sak wo koflana oswe fahko koluk, oayapa soko sak koluk koflana oswe fahko wo.
No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.
44 Sak nukewa eteyuk ke fahko ma el oswe; mwet uh tia kunesla fig liki mu soko, ku eis grape liki kokul uh.
For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor grapes from brambles.
45 Sie mwet wo el fahkak ma wo liki nunak wo su oan insial, ac sie mwet koluk el fahkak ma koluk liki nunak koluk su oan insial. Tuh oalu el kaskas ac fahk ma su inse sessesla kac.”
The good man brings good things out of the good treasure of his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
46 “Efu kowos ku pangonyu ‘Leum, Leum,’ a tia oru ma nga fahk kowos in oru uh?
Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I say?
47 Kutena mwet su tuku nu yuruk, ac lohng ac akos ma nga fahk, nga ac fahkak nu suwos lah el oana mea.
I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them:
48 El oana sie mwet ma musai lohm sel. El pukanak acn uh nwe ke el sun eot ku uh, ac el oakiya pwelung lal fac. Sronot uh ac fah tuku fungulya lohm uh, tuh koflana ikruiya, mweyen ku oakwuk lal.
He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid his foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the torrent crashed against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.
49 A kutena mwet su lohng kas luk ac tia akos, el oana sie mwet ma musai lohm sel fin fohk ac wangin pwelung kac. Ke pacl se sronot uh fungulya lohm uh, kitin pacl ah na ikori, ac arulana musalla!”
But the one who hears My words and does not act on them is like a man who built his house on ground without a foundation. The torrent crashed against that house, and immediately it fell—and great was its destruction!”
