< Daniel 4 >

1 Tokosra Nebuchadnezzar el supwalik sap soko inge nu sin mwet in mutunfacl nukewa ac kain kas nukewa fin faclu, su fahk ouinge: “Paing kowos!
Nebuchadnezzar the king to all people, nations, and languages that dwell upon the whole earth. Peace be multiplied to you!
2 Porongo ma nga ac fahk ke ouiya sakirik ac usrnguk su God Fulatlana El akkalemye nu sik.
I have thought it good to show the signs and wonders which the Most High God hath wrought toward me.
3 “Fuka yokiyen ma usrnguk God El ikasla nu sesr! Fuka lupan kuiyen mwenmen ma El oru! God El tokosra nwe tok ma pahtpat. El ac fah leum fin ma nukewa in pacl nukewa!
How great are his signs, and how mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endureth from generation to generation.
4 “Nga, Nebuchadnezzar, tuh muta arulana misla inkul sik, ac insewowokin kasrup luk.
I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at ease in my house, and flourishing in my palace.
5 Tusruktu nga tuh oru sie mweme na aksangeng, ac liye kutu aruruma su nga arulana tuninfongla kac ke nga motul.
There I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
6 Nga tuh sapkin in utukeni mwet kasru fulat nukewa in acn Babylon elos in tuh fahkma nu sik kalmen mweme sac.
Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me; that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.
7 Na mwet susfa, mwet inutnut, mwet mwenmen, ac mwet lutlut ke ma oan yen engyeng uh nukewa utukeni, ac nga fahkang nu selos mweme se luk ah, a elos tia ku in aketeya nu sik.
Then came in the scribes, the magicians, the Chaldaeans, and the astrologers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation.
8 Na Daniel el utyak. (Itukyang pac inel Belteshazzar, tuh elan us inen god se luk.) Ngunin god mutal uh oan in el, na nga fahkak mweme se luk ah nu sel. Nga fahk ouinge nu sel:
But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods, and I told him the dream.
9 “Belteshazzar, su fulat inmasrlon mwet susfa uh, nga etu lah ngunin god mutal uh oan in kom, ac kom etu ma lukma nukewa. Pa inge mweme se luk uh. Fahkma lah mea kalmac uh.
O Belteshazzar, chief of the scribes, since I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret is too hard for thee, tell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
10 “Ke nga tuh motul ah, nga arurumai soko sak na lulap su tu infulwen faclu.
The visions of my head were these. I saw, and behold a tree in the midst, whose height was very great.
11 Sak soko inge kap na kap nwe ke na sun acn elucng, ac mwet faclu nufon ku in liye.
The tree was large and strong, and its height reached to heaven, and it might be seen to the end of the whole earth.
12 Sra kac uh arulana kato, ac fahko kac arulana ungung, fal in kiteya mwet faclu nufon. Kosro lemnak uh mongla ye lulin sak uh, won uh orala ahng lalos ke lesak uh, ac kain in ma moul nukewa mongo ke fokin sak soko inge.
The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
13 “Ke nga srakna nunku ke aruruma se inge, nga liye sie mwet na mutal oatume inkusrao me, su arulana liyaten in ma nukewa.
I saw, in the visions of my head upon my bed, and behold, a watcher, even a holy one, came down from heaven;
14 Ac el fahkak ke sie pusra lulap, ‘Pakiya sak soko an, ac wotela lah kac an; yolla sra kac, ac sisalik fahko an. Lusak kosro ingan liki ye sak soko an, ac won uh liki lesak an.
he cried aloud, and spake thus: Hew down the tree, and cut off its branches; shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit; let the beasts go away from under it, and the birds from its branches.
15 Ac filiya sruen sak sacn in oanna infohk uh, ac loseni ke mwe lohl orekla ke osra iron ac bronze. Filiya in oanna ke mah inima uh. “‘Na lela aunfong uh in sroksrokkinya mwet se inge, ac lela elan muta inmasrlon kosro lemnak uh, ac sak inima uh.
Yet leave the stump of its roots in the earth, in bands of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and he shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and his portion shall be with the beasts in the grass of the field.
16 Ke lusen yac itkosr el ac fah tia nunak oana mwet uh, a el ac nunak oana kosro uh.
His heart shall be changed, and be no more that of a man, and a beast's heart shall be given him, and seven times shall pass over him.
17 Pa inge ma lipufan liyaten ac asmak uh wotela uh. Ke ma inge lela mwet in acn nukewa in etu lah oasr ku lun God Fulatlana fin tokosrai nukewa lun mwet uh, ac El ku in eisalosyang nu sin kutena mwet ma El lungse eisalosyang nu se — finne mwet ma pilesreyuk oemeet uh.’”
By a decision of the watchers is the decree, and by a command of the holy ones is the sentence; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdoms of men, and giveth them to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over them the lowest of men.
18 Ac Tokosra Nebuchadnezzar el fahk, “Pa inge mweme se luk ah. Inge, Belteshazzar, fahkma lah mea kalmac uh. Wangin sie sin mwet kasru luk inge ku in akkalemye nu sik, a kom ku mweyen ngunin god mutal uh oan in kom.”
This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw, and do thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but thou art able, for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
19 Ke ma inge, Daniel su oayapa pangpang Belteshazzar, el arulana lut ac koflana fahk kutena ma. Na tokosra el fahk nu sel, “Belteshazzar, nimet lela mweme sac, ku kalmen mweme sac in akfohsye kom.” Belteshazzar el topuk ac fahk, “O Tokosra, nga kena tuh mweme sac ac aketeya kac uh in ma nu sin mwet lokoalok lom, ac in tia ma nu sum.
Then Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar, was amazed for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream or the interpretation thereof trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the signification of it to thine enemies!
20 Sak soko ma arulana fulat ac sun acn elucg ingan, ku in liyeyuk sin mwet nukewa fin faclu.
The tree which thou sawest, which was large and strong, whose height reached to heaven, and which might be seen by all the earth,
21 Sra kac uh arulana kato, ac fahko uh ku in kiteya mwet fin faclu nufon. Kosro lemnak uh mongla ye lulin sak soko ah, ac won uh orek ahng ke lesak uh.
whose leaves were fair, and whose fruit abundant, and in which was food for all, under which all the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whoso branches the birds of heaven had their lodging, —
22 “O Tokosra, kom pa sak soko ma arulana fulat ac fokoko inge. Kom kapak nwe arulana fulat, oru kom sun acn elucng, ac ku lom uh fahsrelik nu fin faclu nufon.
it is thou, O king, who art become great and strong; for thy greatness is immense, and reacheth to heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
23 Ke Tokosra srakna intoein ma inge, lipufan se oatui inkusrao me ac fahk, ‘Pakiya sak soko an ac kunausla, tusruk filiya srua an in oanna. Loseni ke sie mwe lohl ma orekla ke osra iron ac bronze, ac filiya in oanna ke mah inima uh. Lela aunfong uh in sroksrokkinya mwet se inge, ac lela elan mutana inmasrlon kosro lemnak uh ke yac itkosr.’
And whereas the king saw a watcher, even a holy one, coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down and destroy it, yet leave the stump of its roots in the earth, in bands of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and he shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and his portion shall be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
24 “O Tokosra, pa inge kalmen mweme sac, ac pa inge ma God Fulatlana El fahk mu ac sikyak nu sum uh.
this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord, the king;
25 Ac fah lillilyak kom liki inmasrlon mwet uh, ac kom fah muta inmasrlon kosro lemnak uh. Ke lusen yac itkosr kom ac fah mongo mah oana soko ox, ac motul inima uh, yen kom ac aksroksrokyeyuk ke aunfong uh. Tukun ma inge, kom ac fah fahk lah pwaye God Fulatlana El nununku tokosrai nukewa lun mwet uh, ac El ku in sang tokosrai nu sin kutena mwet El lungse sang nu se.
they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall let thee eat grass as oxen, and be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdoms of men, and giveth them to whomsoever he will.
26 Lipufan sac tuh sapkin mu sruen sak sac in fili in oanna infohk uh. Kalmac pa kom ac sifilpa tokosrala tukun kom akilenak lah God El leumi faclu nufon.
And whereas it was commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree, thy kingdom shall be sure to thee after thou shalt have acknowledged that Heaven ruleth.
27 Ke ma inge, O Tokosra, oru oana ma nga ac fahk nu sum uh. Nimet kom sifil oru ma koluk, a oru ma wo ac kulang nu sin mwet sukasrup. Kom fin oru ouinge, na ac srakna wo ouiyom.”
Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thy iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening out of thy tranquility.
28 Ma inge nukewa sikyak nu sel Tokosra Nebuchadnezzar.
All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar.
29 Malem na singoul luo tukun ma inge, ke el forfor fin acn lucng ke lohm sel in Babylon,
At the end of twelve months, he was walking in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon;
30 el fahk, “Liye oaskuiyen acn Babylon! Nga musaela tuh in pa siti fulat in tokosrai luk, in akkalemye wal, ku, wolana, ac fulatlana luk.”
and the king spake and said, Is not this the great Babylon which I have built for the seat of the kingdom by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?
31 Soenna safla ma el fahk uh, na sie pusra kasla inkusrao me ac fahk, “Tokosra Nebuchadnezzar, porongo ma nga ac fahk uh! Inge wal in tokosra lom itukla liki kom.
While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven: “To thee it is said, O Nebuchadnezzar! the kingdom is departed from thee.
32 Ac fah lisyukyak kom liki inmasrlon mwet uh, ac kom fah muta inmasrlon kosro lemnak, ac mongo mah oana soko ox ke lusen yac itkosr. Tukun pacl sacn, na kom ac fah akilenak lah pwaye oasr ku lun God Fulatlana fin tokosrai nukewa lun mwet uh, ac El ku in sang tokosrai uh nu sin kutena mwet El lungse sang nu se.”
And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; they shall make thee eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdoms of men, and giveth them to whomsoever he will.”
33 In kitin pacl ah na kas inge akpwayeiyuk. Nebuchadnezzar el lisyukyak liki inmasrlon mwet uh, ac mongo mah oana soko ox. Aunfong uh aksroksrokye manol, ac unac kacl uh loeselik oana unen eagle uh, ac tokinpaol loes oana tokinnien won uh.
The same hour was the word fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar, and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
34 Tokosra el fahk, “Ke safla yac itkosr ah, nga ngetak nu inkusrao ac sifil kalemak nunak luk. Nga kaksakin God Fulatlana, ac sang sunak ac wolana nu sel su moul nwe tok. “El fah leumi ma nukewa nwe tok ma pahtpat, Ac ac fah wangin safliyen tokosrai lal.
But at the end of the days, I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored Him that liveth forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and whose kingdom endureth from generation to generation.
35 El ngeta liye mwet fin faclu oana ma lusrongten; Lipufan inkusrao ac mwet fin faclu Muta ye ku lal. Wangin sie mwet ku in lain lungse lal. Ku kusen siyuk ke ma El oru.
And all the inhabitants of the earth are counted as nothing; and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or say to him, What doest thou?
36 “Ke pacl ma sifil kalemak nunak luk, na folokinyukme sunak, wal fulat luk ac wolana nukewa lun tokosrai luk. Mwet pwapa fulat luk ac mwet leum elos paingyu, ac wal fulat luk folokinyukme yohk liki na meet ah.
At the same time my reason returned to me, and also the glory of my kingdom, my honor, and my splendor returned to me; and my counsellors and my lords sought me; and I was established in my kingdom, and I received yet greater majesty.
37 “Ac inge, nga, Nebuchadnezzar, sunakin, kaksakin, ac akfulatye Tokosra in Kusrao. Ma nukewa El oru uh pwaye ac suwohs, ac El ku in akpusiselyela kutena mwet su inse fulat in orekma lal.”
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; all whose works are truth and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
