< 1 Timoteo 5 >
1 Man ko taj kachꞌabꞌej ri e nimaq taq winaq, xane chaya unoꞌj, jer kabꞌan atat che.
Do not severely rebuke an old man, but beseech him as a father, and the young men as brothers;
2 Jer chaꞌwila anan ri e nimaq taq chuchuibꞌ, ri akꞌal taq alitomabꞌ jer chaꞌwila awanabꞌ, nim chaꞌwilaꞌ rukꞌ chꞌajchꞌojil.
the old women as mothers, and the young as sisters, with all chastity.
3 Utz chabꞌana che kilik ri e malkaꞌn taq ixoqibꞌ ri qas e tzaqtal kanoq.
Honor widows; who are really widows:
4 We kꞌu kꞌo jun malkaꞌn ri e kꞌo ral o e kꞌo riꞌ taq umam, nabꞌe ketaꞌmaj ri rajawaxik kakibꞌan kukꞌ taq ri e winaq ri e kꞌo pa kachoch, ri e kitat kinan, xuqujeꞌ ri e kimam, rumal are waꞌ kaqaj cho ri Dios.
but if any widow have children, or grandchildren, let these learn first piously to take care of their own family, and then to requite their parents: for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
5 Ri malkaꞌn ixoq ri tzaqtal kanoq, kakubꞌiꞌ ukꞌuꞌx chirij ri Dios, xuqujeꞌ amaqꞌel chi paqꞌij chi chaqꞌabꞌ are karilij ubꞌanik chꞌawem xuqujeꞌ kuta tobꞌanik che ri Dios.
Now she who is really a widow, and desolate, trusts in God, and continues in supplications and prayers, night and day.
6 Are kꞌu ri malkaꞌn ixoq ri xaq are karilij ri urayibꞌal ukꞌuꞌx, xkam riꞌ pune kꞌaslik kabꞌantajik.
But she who lives in pleasure, is dead while she lives.
7 Chachilibꞌej chike are kakibꞌan we jastaq riꞌ, rech maj mak kariqitaj chike.
Now these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 Ri man kuya ta ri jastaq ri kajawataj chike ri winaq ri e kꞌo rukꞌ pa ri rachoch, ukꞌekꞌem ri ukojobꞌal xuqujeꞌ sibꞌalaj ajmak na choch ri winaq ri man kojonel taj.
For if any one provide not for his own, and especially those of his own family, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 Chikixoꞌl ri e malkaꞌn taq ixoqibꞌ xwi yaꞌtalik kakꞌojiꞌ ri ixoq ri oxkꞌal chik ujunabꞌ ri qas xa jun rachajil xkꞌojiꞌk,
Let not a widow be taken into the number under sixty years old, having been the wife of one husband,
10 xuqujeꞌ etaꞌmatal uwach rumal ri utz laj taq chak ubꞌanom, jas ta ne ri kikꞌiyisaxik ri ral, yoꞌj kiwa xuqujeꞌ kachoch nikꞌaj winaq chik, chꞌajoj kaqan ri e kojonelabꞌ, yoꞌj tobꞌanik chike ri kakiriq kꞌax xuqujeꞌ kubꞌan ri utzilal pa ronojel qꞌotaj.
eminent for good works--that she has brought up children, that she has lodged strangers, that she has washed the saints' feet, that she has relieved the afflicted, that she has diligently followed every good work.
11 Man kaya ta chikixoꞌl ri malkaꞌnibꞌ ri akꞌal taq ixoqibꞌ malkaꞌn, rumal cher are keqꞌat bꞌik che ri Cristo rumal ri urayibꞌal kikꞌuꞌx kakaj kekꞌuliꞌ chi na.
But the younger widows reject; for when they become impatient of the restraint of Christ, they will wish to marry,
12 Jeriꞌ kuꞌx aꞌjmakibꞌ, man kakibꞌan ta ri xkibꞌij chi kakibꞌano.
incurring blame for having violated their former engagement.
13 Kꞌa te riꞌ kakꞌaman chike xaq e saqꞌoribꞌ, kewaꞌkatilobꞌ cho taq ri ja. Man xaq xwi ta kꞌut kuꞌx saqꞌoribꞌ, xane e tzijtaꞌl, xuqujeꞌ kakitzijoj taq ri man yaꞌtal ta chike.
And, at the same time, also, they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers, also, and meddlers, speaking things which they ought not.
14 Rumal kꞌu waꞌ keꞌntaqchiꞌj ri akꞌal taq ixoqibꞌ ri e malkaꞌnibꞌ, rech kekꞌuliꞌk xuqujeꞌ kekꞌojiꞌ kal, utz kaꞌna chi rilik ri uwo kachoch, makiya bꞌe che ri yoqꞌbꞌal rech ri kꞌulel.
I would, therefore, have young widows to marry, to bear children, to govern the house, to give no occasion to the adversary for reproach;
15 Kinbꞌij waꞌ rumal cher e kꞌo jujun ri xkijelechꞌuj kan ri kibꞌe chutereneꞌxik ri Itzel.
for some are already turned aside after the adversary.
16 We kꞌo jun kojonel ri e kꞌo malkaꞌnibꞌ pa rachoch, rajawaxik kuꞌtoꞌo rech man e jun eqaꞌn taj che ri komontyox, jeriꞌ ri komontyox kakwinik keꞌril ri e malkaꞌnibꞌ ri e tzaqtal kanoq.
If any believing man or woman have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the congregation be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows.
17 Ri e kꞌamal taq bꞌe ri utz kakibꞌan che ri jastaq pa ri komontyox, kamul yaꞌtal kiqꞌij, sibꞌalaj e kꞌo na ri kakitzijoj ri utzij ri Dios xuqujeꞌ ri kakiya kꞌutuꞌn.
Let the seniors who preside well, be counted worthy of double honor; especially those who labor in word and teaching.
18 Ri tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij: Makoj chim puꞌwiꞌ utzaꞌm ri wakax are tajin kuyaqꞌ ri tiriko, rumal cher ri ajchak taqal che chi katojik.
For the scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox treading out corn"; and, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
19 Maya bꞌe xaq katzujux jun kꞌamal bꞌe, we man e kꞌo kebꞌ o oxibꞌ winaq ri xiꞌlowik.
Against a senior receive not an accusation, unless by two or three witnesses.
20 Chaꞌyaja chikiwach konojel ri winaq rech ri komontyox ri kꞌamal taq bꞌe ri kemakunik rech kux jun kꞌambꞌejabꞌal noꞌj chikiwach konojel.
Those who sin, rebuke before all, that the others, also, may be afraid.
21 Qas cho ri Dios katintaqchiꞌj, xuqujeꞌ chikiwach ri Jesús rachiꞌl ri angelibꞌ ri e chaꞌtalik, chatereneꞌj we kinbꞌij chawe, man kaya ta bꞌe xaq kakꞌutwachin apanoq jastaq chawach, xuqujeꞌ man xaq ta kꞌyaqal winaq kaꞌchaꞌo.
I charge you, in the presence of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, and of the elect angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Qas chachomaj na are kaya aqꞌabꞌ puꞌwiꞌ ri winaq ri kawaj kok che kꞌamal bꞌe pa ri komontyox, rech man kaꞌwachiꞌlaj ta pa ri kimak. Qas chatkꞌol pa chꞌajchꞌojil.
Impose hands hastily on no one, neither partake of other men's sins. Keep yourself pure.
23 Man xwi ta katij jaꞌ, chatija jubꞌiqꞌ vino, rumal chi kꞌax ri apam xuqujeꞌ amaqꞌel tajin katyawajik.
No longer drink water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake, and your frequent infirmities.
24 Ri kimak e jujun kaqꞌalajinik pune majaꞌ kasol rij. Are kꞌu ri kimak nikꞌaj kꞌa te ketaꞌmatajik ikꞌowinaq chi ri qꞌotaj.
The sins of some men are very manifest, going before to condemnation; but some, indeed, they follow after.
25 Je xuqujeꞌ ri utz laj taq chak, pune aꞌwatalik xa kꞌu we aninaq o kꞌamaꞌtam kakikꞌut wi na kibꞌ keqꞌalajin wi na.
In like manner, also, the good works of some are very manifest, and those that are otherwise, can not lie hid.
