< 1 Timoteo 3 >
1 Qas tzij kabꞌixik: We kꞌo jun karaj kux kꞌamal bꞌe jun jeꞌl laj patanijel riꞌ kurayij kuxik.
This saying is true. If one earnestly seek the office of a bishop, he desires an excellent work.
2 Xaq jeriꞌ, rajawaxik chi ri kꞌamal bꞌe jun chꞌajchꞌoj laj winaq, xa jun rixoqil, qas kunaꞌ na ri kubꞌano, nim kilik, kuya kikꞌolibꞌal xuqujeꞌ kiwa ri koꞌpan chusolixik, qas kanaꞌwik kuya kꞌutuꞌn.
The bishop, then, must be unblamed, the husband of one wife, vigilant, prudent, of comely behavior, hospitable, fit to teach;
3 Man kaqꞌabꞌar taj, man jun tzukul chꞌoꞌj taj, man are ta kuloqꞌoqꞌej ri pwaq, xane utz kanoꞌjinik xuqujeꞌ kajororik.
not given to wine, no striker, but gentle; not quarrelsome, nor a lover of money:
4 Utz rilik ri rixoqil xuqujeꞌ ri ralkꞌwaꞌl kubꞌano, kuꞌtaqchiꞌj ri e ralkꞌwaꞌl kenimanik, jeꞌ jas ri kajawatajik.
one who rules well his own house, having his children in subjection to him with all gravity:
5 We kꞌu man kakwinik kuꞌpixibꞌaj ri e ralkꞌwaꞌl xuqujeꞌ ri rixoqil, ¿la are kꞌu kakwin riꞌ kuchajij ri komontyox rech ri Dios?
for if one know not how to govern his own house; how shall he take care of the congregation of God?
6 Man jun kꞌakꞌ kojonel taj, rech man kape ta nimal che, xuqujeꞌ rech man kaqaj ta apanoq pa ri kꞌaxkꞌolal ri xqaj wi ri itzel.
Not a new convert, lest being puffed up with pride, he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Xuqujeꞌ rajawaxik chi utz ketzijon ri winaq che rech man kayoqꞌ taj xuqujeꞌ man kaqaj ta pa ri ukꞌaꞌmabꞌal ri itzel.
Moreover, he must even have a good report from those without, that he may not fall into reproach, and the snare of the devil.
8 Je xuqujeꞌ rajawaxik chi ri patanijelabꞌ nim kiqꞌij, man kakibꞌan ta bꞌanoj tzij, man kakitij ta nim vino, man ke jiqꞌjat taj che ri pwaq ri man kichꞌekoj taj.
The deacons, in like manner, must be grave, not double-tongued, not giving themselves to much wine, not persons who earn money by base methods;
9 Rajawaxik chꞌajchꞌoj ri kichomanik, xuqujeꞌ kakikꞌol ri nimaq taq qas tzij rech ri kojobꞌal.
holding fast the secret of the faith with a pure conscience.
10 Nabꞌe na solix kij, we kꞌu maj mak kariqitaj chike, kꞌa te riꞌ choꞌk che patanijel.
But let those also be first proved: then let them exercise the office of the deacon, being without blame.
11 Xuqujeꞌ rajawaxik chi ri e kixoqil ri e patanijelabꞌ nim kiqꞌij, man e bꞌanal taq tzij taj, xane utz kenoꞌjinik, xuqujeꞌ e kuꞌlibꞌal kuꞌx.
The women, in like manner, must be grave, not slanderers; but vigilant, faithful in all things.
12 Rajawaxik chi ri patanijel achajilom xa rech jun ixoq, xuqujeꞌ kuꞌpixibꞌaj ri e ralkꞌwaꞌl pa ri rachoch.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling well their children and their families.
13 Ri utz kakibꞌan che ri kipatan, kakichꞌek jun kꞌolibꞌal jawjeꞌ ri nim kiꞌl wi, xuqujeꞌ kayaꞌtaj kuꞌlibꞌal kuꞌx chike chutzijoxik ri kikojobꞌal pa Cristo Jesús.
For they who have performed the office of a deacon well, procure to themselves an excellent degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Pune kawaj kateꞌnwilaꞌ aninaq, kintzꞌibꞌaj kꞌu we ucholajil riꞌ chawe rech
These things I write to you, hoping to come to you soon.
15 we kinbꞌeyetajik, awetaꞌm jas jeꞌ katnoꞌjin pa ri rachoch ri Dios, are waꞌ ri komontyox rech ri kꞌaslik Dios, ri teleninaq xuqujeꞌ ri ukꞌuꞌx ri qas tzij.
But if I tarry long, that you may know you ought to behave yourselves in the house of God, which is the congregation of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.--
16 Qas qꞌalaj chi qas nim wi ri awatalik che ri qakojobꞌal: ri Cristo xukꞌut ribꞌ jacha jun achi, xya pa ri ukꞌolibꞌal rumal ri Uxlabꞌixel, xil uwach kumal ri angelibꞌ, xtzijox pa ronojel ri tinimit rech ri uwachulew. Ri winaq choch ri uwachulew xkikoj pa kanimaꞌ, xkꞌamawaꞌx pa ri juluwem.
And, confessedly, great is the secret of godliness; --he who has manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit; seen of messengers, proclaimed to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
