< 1 Pedro 2 >
1 Rumal riꞌ chitzaqa bꞌa kanoq ronojel etzelal, ri taqchiꞌnik pa mak, kawachaj, tiꞌtatem xuqujeꞌ ronojel uwach bꞌanoj tzij.
So then, laying aside all malignity—even all deceit and play-actings and envies, yes all malicious speaking—

4 Ri Cristo are kꞌaslik abꞌaj chaꞌtal rumal ri Dios ri xetzelax kumal ri winaq. Chixqebꞌ rukꞌ Areꞌ.
Coming to Him, a living stone—rejected indeed by men but chosen by God, precious—

you also, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Ri tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij: Chiwilampeꞌ, kinya pa Sión jun abꞌaj ri nuchaꞌom xuqujeꞌ paqal rajil, xapachin ri kakubꞌiꞌ ukꞌuꞌx chirij man kel ta ukꞌixibꞌal.
That is why the Scripture contains: “Attention, I am laying in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, precious, and the one who rests his trust upon Him will absolutely not be humiliated.”
7 Chiꞌwech ix ri ix kojonelabꞌ waꞌ, we abꞌaj riꞌ sibꞌalaj kꞌo uqꞌij, chike ri man e kojonelabꞌ taj, are waꞌ ri abꞌaj ri xketzelaj uwach pune jeriꞌ xux na ri abꞌaj ri qas kꞌo kutayij.
So then, this recompense is for you who believe, but to those who disobey, “the stone that the builders rejected is just the one that became the chief cornerstone,”
8 Xuqujeꞌ: Jun abꞌaj topibꞌal aqanaj, ri kuꞌtzaq e kꞌi. Ri winaq ketzaqik are man kakinimaj taj ri utz laj tzij ri kabꞌix chike.

But you are a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a private-property people, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 Ri ix nabꞌe kanoq man ix utinimit taj ri Dios, kamik kꞌut ix utinimit chik. Ojer man ikꞌamawaꞌm taj ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Dios kamik kꞌut ikꞌamawaꞌm chik.

Dear ones, I urge you to abstain from the lusts of the flesh, that war against the soul,

keeping your way of life among the nations praiseworthy (you being foreigners and sojourners), so that wherein they speak against you as evildoers, in spite of the praiseworthy deeds they have observed, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Chiꞌnimaj konojel ri e qꞌatal taq tzij rech uwachulew pune are ri qas nim kabꞌan rech,
Therefore subordinate yourselves to every human institution because of the Lord, whether to a king, as being in authority,

Because such is the will of God, to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good:
16 We are kibꞌan ri sukꞌal qas kixkꞌojiꞌ na riꞌ pa ri kiritajem, man are ta kibꞌan ri etzelal xane are chibꞌana ri utzilal rech jeriꞌ kikꞌutu chi ix patanil rech ri Dios.

17 Nim chiꞌwila konojel ri winaq, chiꞌloqꞌaj ri alaxik, chimochꞌo iwibꞌ choch ri Dios xuqujeꞌ chinimaj ri nim qꞌatal tzij.
Respect everyone; love the brotherhood; fear God; honor the king.
18 Ajchakibꞌ, chimochꞌo iwibꞌ xuqujeꞌ chiꞌnimaj ri ajchoqꞌe chak man xwi taj kiꞌnimaj ri utz kakibꞌan chiꞌwe, xane chiꞌnimaj pune itzel kenoꞌjin chiꞌwe.
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unscrupulous.
19 Jeriꞌ rumal cher sibꞌalaj nim kil jun rumal ri Dios pune utz kanoꞌjinik kabꞌan kꞌax che.
For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God someone endures grief, suffering unjustly.
20 ¿Jas kꞌu che nimaꞌq kinaꞌo rukꞌ ri kꞌax kibꞌano? Kabꞌan kꞌax chiꞌwe rumal ri kꞌax ri kibꞌano, we kabꞌan kꞌax chiꞌwe rumal ri utzilal ri kibꞌano, ri Dios kuya na iqꞌij.
For what credit is it if upon sinning and being beaten you endure patiently? But if upon doing good and suffering you endure patiently, this is commendable before God.
21 Are waꞌ ita xixusikꞌij apanoq ri Dios, riꞌ ri Jesucristo xuriq kꞌax, xuqujeꞌ xukꞌut kanoq chiꞌwach jas jeꞌ rajawaxik kixnoꞌjinik.
Now you have been called to this, really, because Christ also suffered in our behalf, leaving you an example that you should follow in His footsteps:
22 Ri Cristo maj jun nitzꞌ laj mak xubꞌano, xuqujeꞌ man xubꞌij ta wi jun kꞌax laj tzij.
who did not commit sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth;

who being reviled did not revile in return, suffering did not threaten but committed it to Him who judges righteously;

who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, so that we, having died to those sins, might live for the righteousness; by whose wound you were healed.
25 Nabꞌe kanoq, je ri ix kꞌo ri sachinaq chij, kamik kꞌut xixtzalij loq rukꞌ ri ajyuqꞌ ri kakwinik kuchajij ri ikꞌaslemal.
Yes, you were like straying sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.
