テトスへの手紙 2
1 しかし、あなたは、健全な教にかなうことを語りなさい。
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 老人たちには自らを制し、謹厳で、慎み深くし、また、信仰と愛と忍耐とにおいて健全であるように勧め、
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
3 年老いた女たちにも、同じように、たち居ふるまいをうやうやしくし、人をそしったり大酒の奴隷になったりせず、良いことを教える者となるように、勧めなさい。
The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 そうすれば、彼女たちは、若い女たちに、夫を愛し、子供を愛し、
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 慎み深く、純潔で、家事に努め、善良で、自分の夫に従順であるように教えることになり、したがって、神の言がそしりを受けないようになるであろう。
[To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 若い男にも、同じく、万事につけ慎み深くあるように、勧めなさい。
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
7 あなた自身を良いわざの模範として示し、人を教える場合には、清廉と謹厳とをもってし、
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine [shewing] uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 非難のない健全な言葉を用いなさい。そうすれば、反対者も、わたしたちについてなんの悪口も言えなくなり、自ら恥じいるであろう。
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
9 奴隷には、万事につけその主人に服従して、喜ばれるようになり、反抗をせず、
[Exhort] servants to be obedient unto their own masters, [and] to please [them] well in all [things]; not answering again;
10 盗みをせず、どこまでも心をこめた真実を示すようにと、勧めなさい。そうすれば、彼らは万事につけ、わたしたちの救主なる神の教を飾ることになろう。
Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11 すべての人を救う神の恵みが現れた。
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; (aiōn g165)
13 祝福に満ちた望み、すなわち、大いなる神、わたしたちの救主キリスト・イエスの栄光の出現を待ち望むようにと、教えている。
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 このキリストが、わたしたちのためにご自身をささげられたのは、わたしたちをすべての不法からあがない出して、良いわざに熱心な選びの民を、ご自身のものとして聖別するためにほかならない。
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 あなたは、権威をもってこれらのことを語り、勧め、また責めなさい。だれにも軽んじられてはならない。
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
