ピレモンへの手紙 1
1 キリスト・イエスの囚人パウロと兄弟テモテから、わたしたちの愛する同労者ピレモン、
Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy [our] brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
2 姉妹アピヤ、わたしたちの戦友アルキポ、ならびに、あなたの家にある教会へ。
And to [our] beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
3 わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 わたしは、祈の時にあなたをおぼえて、いつもわたしの神に感謝している。
I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
5 それは、主イエスに対し、また、すべての聖徒に対するあなたの愛と信仰とについて、聞いているからである。
Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
6 どうか、あなたの信仰の交わりが強められて、わたしたちの間でキリストのためになされているすべての良いことが、知られて来るようになってほしい。
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
7 兄弟よ。わたしは、あなたの愛によって多くの喜びと慰めとを与えられた。聖徒たちの心が、あなたによって力づけられたからである。
For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
8 こういうわけで、わたしは、キリストにあってあなたのなすべき事を、きわめて率直に指示してもよいと思うが、
Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
9 むしろ、愛のゆえにお願いする。すでに老年になり、今またキリスト・イエスの囚人となっているこのパウロが、
Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech [thee], being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
10 捕われの身で産んだわたしの子供オネシモについて、あなたにお願いする。
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
11 彼は以前は、あなたにとって無益な者であったが、今は、あなたにも、わたしにも、有益な者になった。
Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
12 彼をあなたのもとに送りかえす。彼はわたしの心である。
Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
13 わたしは彼を身近に引きとめておいて、わたしが福音のために捕われている間、あなたに代って仕えてもらいたかったのである。
Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
14 しかし、わたしは、あなたの承諾なしには何もしたくない。あなたが強制されて良い行いをするのではなく、自発的にすることを願っている。
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever; (aiōnios g166)
16 しかも、もはや奴隷としてではなく、奴隷以上のもの、愛する兄弟としてである。とりわけ、わたしにとってそうであるが、ましてあなたにとっては、肉においても、主にあっても、それ以上であろう。
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
17 そこで、もしわたしをあなたの信仰の友と思ってくれるなら、わたし同様に彼を受けいれてほしい。
If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
18 もし、彼があなたに何か不都合なことをしたか、あるいは、何か負債があれば、それをわたしの借りにしておいてほしい。
If he hath wronged thee, or oweth [thee] ought, put that on mine account;
19 このパウロが手ずからしるす、わたしがそれを返済する。この際、あなたが、あなた自身をわたしに負うていることについては、何も言うまい。
I Paul have written [it] with mine own hand, I will repay [it]: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
20 兄弟よ。わたしはあなたから、主にあって何か益を得たいものである。わたしの心を、主にあって力づけてもらいたい。
Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
21 わたしはあなたの従順を堅く信じて、この手紙を書く。あなたは、確かにわたしが言う以上のことをしてくれるだろう。
Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
22 ついでにお願いするが、わたしのために宿を用意しておいてほしい。あなたがたの祈によって、あなたがたの所に行かせてもらえるように望んでいるのだから。
But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
23 キリスト・イエスにあって、わたしと共に捕われの身になっているエパフラスから、あなたによろしく。
There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
24 わたしの同労者たち、マルコ、アリスタルコ、デマス、ルカからも、よろしく。
Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.
25 主イエス・キリストの恵みが、あなたがたの霊と共にあるように。
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit. Amen.
