Salmi 10
1 O SIGNORE, perchè te ne stai lontano? [Perchè] ti nascondi a' tempi [che siamo] in distretta?
Why, Jehovah, dost Thou stand at a distance? Thou dost hide in times of adversity,
2 L'empio colla sua superbia persegue il povero afflitto; [Ma] saranno presi nelle macchinazioni che hanno fatte.
Through the pride of the wicked, Is the poor inflamed, They are caught in devices that they devised.
3 Perciocchè l'empio si gloria de' desiderii dell'anima sua; E benedice l'avaro, [e] dispetta il Signore.
Because the wicked hath boasted Of the desire of his soul, And a dishonest gainer he hath blessed, He hath despised Jehovah.
4 L'empio, secondo l'alterezza del suo volto, non si cura [di nulla]; Tutti i suoi pensieri [sono, che] non [vi è] Dio.
The wicked according to the height of his face, inquireth not. 'God is not!' [are] all his devices.
5 Le sue vie son profane in ogni tempo; I tuoi giudicii gli sono una cosa troppo alta, [per averli] davanti a sè; Egli soffia contro a tutti i suoi nemici.
Pain do his ways at all times, On high [are] Thy judgments before him, All his adversaries — he puffeth at them.
6 Egli dice nel suo cuore: Io non sarò [giammai] smosso; [Egli dice], che in veruna età non caderà in alcun male.
He hath said in his heart, 'I am not moved,' To generation and generation not in evil.
7 La sua bocca è piena di esecrazione, e di frodi, e d'inganno; Sotto la lingua sua [vi è] perversità ed iniquità.
Of oaths his mouth is full, And deceits, and fraud: Under his tongue [is] perverseness and iniquity,
8 Egli sta negli agguati per le ville; Egli uccide l'innocente in luoghi nascosti; I suoi occhi spiano il povero.
He doth sit in an ambush of the villages, In secret places he doth slay the innocent. His eyes for the afflicted watch secretly,
9 Egli insidia il povero nel [suo] nascondimento, Come il leone nella sua spelonca; Egli l'insidia per predarlo; Egli preda il povero, traendolo nella sua rete.
He lieth in wait in a secret place, as a lion in a covert. He lieth in wait to catch the poor, He catcheth the poor, drawing him into his net.
10 Egli se ne sta quatto e chino; E molti poveri caggiono nelle sue unghie.
He is bruised — he boweth down, Fallen by his mighty ones hath the afflicted.
11 Egli dice nel cuor suo: Iddio l'ha dimenticato; Egli ha nascosta la sua faccia, egli giammai non lo vedrà.
He said in his heart, 'God hath forgotten, He hath hid His face, He hath never seen.'
12 Levati, Signore; o Dio, alza la tua mano; Non dimenticare i poveri afflitti.
Arise, O Jehovah! O God, lift up Thy hand! Forget not the humble.
13 Perchè l'empio dispetta egli Iddio? [Perchè] dice [egli] nel cuor suo, [che] tu non [ne] ridomanderai ragione?
Wherefore hath the wicked despised God? He hath said in his heart, 'It is not required.'
14 Tu [l]'hai pur veduto; perciocchè tu riguardi l'oltraggio e il dispetto, Per prendere [il fatto] in mano. Il povero si rimette in te; Tu sei l'aiutatore dell'orfano.
Thou hast seen, For Thou perverseness and anger beholdest; By giving into Thy hand, On Thee doth the afflicted leave [it], Of the fatherless Thou hast been an helper.
15 Fiacca il braccio dell'empio; E [poi, se] tu ricerchi l'empietà del malvagio, non la troverai [più].
Break the arm of the wicked and the evil, Seek out his wickedness, find none;
16 Il Signore [è] re in sempiterno; Le genti son perite dalla sua terra.
Jehovah [is] king to the age, and for ever, The nations have perished out of His land!
17 O Signore, tu esaudisci il desiderio degli umili; Tu raffermi il cuor loro, le tue orecchie sono attente a loro;
The desire of the humble Thou hast heard, O Jehovah. Thou preparest their heart; Thou causest Thine ear to attend,
18 Per far ragione all'orfano e al povero; Acciocchè l'uomo di terra non continui più ad usar violenza.
To judge the fatherless and bruised: He addeth no more to oppress — man of the earth!
