Ester 1
1 ORA avvenne al tempo di Assuero, ch'[era] quell'Assuero che regnava dall'India fino in Etiopia, sopra cenventisette provincie,
And it was in [the] days of Ahasuerus that Ahasuerus who reigned from India and to Cush seven and twenty and one hundred province[s].
2 che in quel tempo, sedendo il re Assuero sopra il suo trono reale, ch'[era] in Susan, stanza reale,
In the days those when sat - the king Ahasuerus on [the] throne of royalty his which [was] in Susa the citadel.
3 l'anno terzo del suo regno, egli fece un convito a tutti i suoi principi e servitori, [avendo] davanti a sè l'esercito di Persia e di Media, i baroni, e i governatori delle provincie;
In year three of reigning his he made a feast for all officials his and servants his [the] army of - Persia and Media the nobles and [the] officials of the provinces [were] before him.
4 facendo mostra delle ricchezze, e della gloria del suo regno, e dell'eccellenza, e magnificenza della sua grandezza, [e ciò per] molti giorni, [cioè, per] centottanta giorni.
When showed he [the] wealth of [the] splendor of kingdom his and [the] honor of [the] glory of greatness his days many eighty and one hundred day[s].
5 E in capo di que' giorni, il re fece un [altro] convito, per sette giorni, nel cortile dell'orto del palazzo reale, a tutto il popolo che si ritrovò in Susan, stanza reale, dal maggiore al minore.
And when were completed - the days these he made the king for all the people who were found in Susa the citadel from great and unto insignificant a feast seven days in [the] court of [the] garden of [the] palace of the king.
6 [Quivi erano] veli bianchi e violati, appesi con anelli d'argento, e funi di bisso, e di scarlatto, e colonne di marmo; i letti [erano] d'oro e d'argento, sopra un lastrico di porfido, e di marmo bianco, di mischio, e di granito.
White material - cotton and violet material [was] held with cords of fine linen and purple on rods of silver and pillars of marble couches of - gold and silver on a pavement of porphyry and marble and mother-of-pearl and paving stone.
7 E si presentava a bere in vasellamenti d'oro, i quali si mutavano di tempo in tempo; e [vi era] del vino reale in abbondanza, secondo il potere di quel re.
And they gave to drink in vessels of gold and vessels from vessels [were] differing and wine of royalty [was] much according to [the] hand of the king.
8 E il bere [era] secondo questa legge, che niuno costringeva [a bere]; perciocchè il re avea imposto a tutti i suoi maestri di casa, che ciascuno facesse a sua volontà.
And the drinking [was] according to the law there not [was one who] compelled for thus - he had appointed the king on every chief of house his to do according to [the] pleasure of man and man.
9 La regina Vasti fece anch'essa un convito alle donne, nella casa reale del re Assuero.
Also Vashti the queen she made a feast of women [the] house of royalty which [belonged] to the king Ahasuerus.
10 Al settimo giorno, il re avendo il cuore allegro di vino, disse a Mehuman, a Bizta, ad Harbona, a Bigta, ad Abagta, a Zetar, ed a Carcas, i sette eunuchi che erano i ministri ordinari del re Assuero;
On the day seventh when was good [the] heart of the king by the wine he said to Mehuman Biztha Harbona Bigtha and Abagtha Zethar and Carcas [the] seven the eunuchs who served with [the] face of the king Ahasuerus.
11 che menassero la regina Vasti in presenza del re, con la corona reale, per mostrare a' popoli ed a' signori la sua bellezza; perciocchè ella era bella di aspetto.
To bring Vashti the queen before the king with a crown of royalty to show the peoples and the officials beauty her for [was] good of appearance she.
12 Ma la regina Vasti ricusò di venire alla parola del re, [recatale] per gli eunuchi; laonde il re si crucciò forte, e la sua ira si accese in lui.
And she refused the queen Vashti to come at [the] word of the king which [was] by [the] hand of the eunuchs and he was angry the king exceedingly and rage his it burned in him.
13 E il re disse a' savi, che aveano conoscenza de' tempi (perciocchè così erano proposti gli affari del re a tutti coloro ch'erano intendenti delle leggi, e della ragione;
And he said the king to wise men [who] knew the times for [was] thus [the] manner of the king before all [those who] knew law and judgment.
14 ed [allora erano] appresso di lui Carsenar, Setar, Admata, Tarsis, Meres, Marsena, [e] Memucan, sette principali signori di Persia e di Media, i quali vedevano la faccia del re, ed aveano i primi seggi nel regno):
And the [ones] close to him [were] Carshena Shethar Admatha Tarshish Meres Marsena Memucan [the] seven [the] officials of - Persia and Media [who] saw [the] face of the king who sat foremost in the kingdom.
15 Che [conviensi egli] fare, secondo la legge, alla regina Vasti, perciocchè non ha fatto il comandamento del re Assuero, [recatole] per gli eunuchi?
According to [the] law what? [is] to do with the queen Vashti on - that not she did [the] command of the king Ahasuerus by [the] hand of the eunuchs.
16 Allora Memucan disse in presenza del re e de' principi: La regina Vasti non ha misfatto solo contro al re, ma eziandio contro a tutti i principi, e contro a tutti i popoli, che [sono] in tutte le provincie del re Assuero;
And he said (Memucan *Q(k)*) before the king and the officials not on the king to only him she did wrong Vashti the queen for on all the officials and on all the peoples which [are] in all [the] provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
17 perciocchè quello che la regina ha fatto si spargerà fra tutte le donne, per far [loro] sprezzare i lor mariti; quando si dirà: Il re Assuero avea comandato che si facesse venire la regina Vasti in presenza sua, e pure ella non ci è venuta.
For it will go forth [the] matter of the queen to all the women to make despicable husbands their in view their because will say they the king Ahasuerus he said to bring Vashti the queen before him and not she came.
18 E fin da questo giorno le dame di Persia e di Media che avranno intese le parole della regina, ardiranno parlare a' principi del re; e [vi sarà] troppo grande sprezzo ed indegnazione.
And the day this they will say - [the] noble ladies of Persia and Media who they have heard [the] matter of the queen to all [the] officials of the king and [will be] as enough of contempt and anger.
19 Se [così] par bene al re, sia bandito un decreto reale da parte sua, e sia scritto fra le leggi di Persia e di Media, talchè sia irrevocabile: Che Vasti non verrà [più] in presenza del re Assuero; e che il re darà la dignità reale di essa ad una sua compagna, migliore di lei.
If [is] on the king good let it go forth a word of royalty from to before him and let it be written in [the] laws of Persia and Media and not it will pass away that not she will come Vashti before the king Ahasuerus and queenhood her let him give the king to fellow woman her good more than she.
20 E il decreto che il re avrà fatto, sarà inteso per tutto il suo regno, benchè egli [sia] grande; e tutte le donne renderanno onore a' lor mariti, dal maggiore al minore.
And it will be heard [the] decree of the king which he will make in all kingdom his for [is] great it and all the women they will give honor to husbands their from great and unto insignificant.
21 E la cosa piacque al re ed a' principi; e il re fece come Memucan avea detto:
And it was good the word in [the] eyes of the king and the officials and he did the king according to [the] word of Memucan.
22 E [ne] mandò lettere a tutte le sue provincie, a ciascuna provincia, secondo la sua maniera di scrivere, ed a ciascun popolo, secondo il suo linguaggio; acciocchè ogni uomo fosse signore in casa sua, e parlasse secondo il linguaggio del suo popolo.
And he sent out documents to all [the] provinces of the king to province and province according to writing its and to people and people according to language its to be every man ruler in own household his and speaking according to [the] language of people his.
