< Dagiti Aramid 8 >
1 Inanamungan ni Saulo ti ipapatay ni Esteban. Nangrugi ngarud iti dayta nga aldaw ti pannakaparigat ti iglesia nga adda idiay Jerusalem; ket amin dagiti namati, nagwarasda kadagiti amin a rehion iti Judea ken Samaria, malaksid kadagiti apostoles.
With these words he fell asleep. And Saul fully approved of his murder. On this very day there broke out a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostle were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
2 Impunpon dagiti nainget a tattao ni Esteban ket kasta unay iti panangdung-awda kenkuana.
Devout men buried Stephen, and made loud lamentations over him.
3 Ngem nakaro ti panangdangran ni Saulo iti iglesia; sinaggaysana dagiti babbalay ket ingguyodna nga inruar dagiti lallaki ken babbai, ket imbaludna ida iti pagbaludan.
But Saul was laying waste the church. He was wont to enter into every house, and to drag off men and women, and to commit them to prison.
4 Nupay kasta, dagiti namati a naiwaras ket napanda inkaskasaba ti sao.
So those who were scattered abroad were going everywhere preaching the word.
5 Simmalog ni Felipe iti siudad iti Samaria ket inwaragawagna kadakuada ti maipapan iti Cristo.
Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and began to preach Christ there.
6 Idi nangngegan ken nakita iti adu a bilang ti tattao dagiti pagilasinan nga inaramid ni Felipe, sangsangkamaysada a dimngeg a naimbag iti imbagana.
The crowd with one accord were giving heed to what he said, when they heard and saw the signs that he did.
7 Ta adu a tattao a linuganan iti narugit nga espiritu ti napaimbag ket uray la agiikkis dagiti narugit nga espiritu bayat a rumrummuarda kadagiti linugananda a tattao; ken adu a paralitiko ken pilay a tattao ti napaimbag.
For with a loud cry unclean spirits would come out of many possessed by them, and many that were palsied and lame were healed.
8 Ket kasta unay ti panagrag-o iti dayta a siudad.
There began to be great joy in that city.
9 Ngem adda maysa a lalaki iti siudad a managanan Simon, a nagar-aramid iti panagsalamangka kadagiti napalabas a panawen; idi ket pinagsiddaawna dagiti tattao iti Samaria, ket imbagbagana pay nga isuna ket napateg a tao.
Now for some time a man named Simon had been practising sorcery in that city, and had amazed the people of Samaria. He gave himself out to be some great person.
10 Amin dagiti Samaritano, manipud kababaan agingga iti katatan-okan, dimngegda kenkuana; kinunada, “Daytoy a tao ket isu ti pannakabalin ti Dios a naawagan iti Naindaklan.”
Many from all classes would give heed to him, declaring, "This man is the Power of God, known as the Great Power."
11 Dimngegda kenkuana, gapu ta pinagsiddaawna ida iti atiddug a tiempo babaen iti panagsalamangkana.
They were giving heed to him because, for a long time, he had amazed them with his sorceries.
12 Ngem idi pinatida ti inkasaba ni Felipe maipanggep iti ebanghelio maipapan iti pagarian ti Dios ken iti nagan ni Jesu-Cristo, nabautisaranda, dagiti lallaki ken babbai.
But when they believed Philip, who was preaching glad tidings about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they began to be baptized, both men and women.
13 Ket uray ni Simon, namati met; kalpasan a nabautisaran isuna, intuloyna a nakikadua ken ni Felipe; idi nakitana dagiti pagilasinan ken addaan pannakabalin nga ar-aramid a naaramid, nagsiddaaw isuna.
And Simon himself also believed, and after his baptism he remained with Philip, and was full of amazement as he beheld the signs and striking miracles which were performed.
14 Ita, idi nangngegan dagiti apostoles idiay Jerusalem a naawat ti Samaria ti sao ti Dios, imbaonda kadakuada ni Pedro ken ni Juan.
The apostle at Jerusalem, when they heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, sent to them Peter and John.
15 Idi simmalogda, inkararaganda ida; tapno awatenda ti Espiritu Santo.
Who came down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
16 Ta agingga iti dayta a tiempo, saan nga immay ti Espiritu Santo iti uray siasino kadakuada, nabautisaranda laeng iti nagan ni Apo Jesus.
For he had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Ket impatay da Pedro ken ni Juan dagiti imada kadakuada, ket inawatda ti Espiritu Santo.
Then the apostles laid their hands upon them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Ita, idi nakita ni Simon a naited ti Espiritu Santo babaen iti panangipatay dagiti apostoles kadagiti imada, nangidiaya isuna iti kuarta kadakuada.
But when Simon perceived that, by the laying on of the apostles’ hands, the Spirit was given, he offered them money saying,
19 Kinunana, “Itedyo met kaniak daytoy a pannakabalin, tapno ti siasinoman a pangipatayak kadagiti imak ket awatenna met ti Espiritu Santo.
"Give me, too, this power, so that on whomever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit."
20 Ngem kinuna ni Pedro kenkuana, “Makipukaw koma kenka ti pirak, gapu ta pinanunotmo a gun-oden ti sagut ti Dios babaen iti kuarta.
But Peter said to him. "Your money perish with you, because you have supposed that with money you can obtain God’s free gift!"
21 Awan paset wenno bingaymo iti daytoy a banag, gapu ta ti adda iti pusom ket saan a maiyannatup iti pagayatan ti Dios.
"You have no part or lot in this matter." Your heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Isu nga agbabawika iti daytoy a kinadangkesmo, ket agkararagka iti Apo, ta bareng no pakawanennaka iti tinarigagayam.
Repent then of this your wickedness, and beseech the Lord to forgive you this purpose of your heart.
23 Ta makitak nga addaka iti sabidong ti apal ken iti kawkawar ti basol.”
"For I perceive that you still stand in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of unrighteousness."
24 Simmungbat ni Simon ket kinunana, “Ikararagandak iti Dios, nga awan koma kadagitoy a banbanag a naisaoyo ti mapasamak kaniak.”
And Simon answered, "Pray to the Lord for me, both of you, that nothing which you have said may happen to me."
25 Kalpasan iti panangpaneknek da Pedro ken Juan ken insaoda ti sao ti Apo, nagsublida idiay Jerusalem; ket iti dalan, inkaskasabada ti ebanghelio kadagiti adu a bario dagiti Samaritano.
So the apostles, after bearing solemn witness, and declaring the message of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, evangelizing many Samaritan villages as they went.
26 Ita, adda anghel ti Apo a nagsao kenni Felipe a kinunana, “Tumakderka ket agpaabagatanka iti dalan a sumalog manipud Jerusalem agingga iti Gaza.” (Daytoy a dalan ket adda iti disierto.)
And an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go on your way south, along the road that runs down from Jerusalem to Gaza, the desert way."
27 Timmakder isuna ket napan. Pagammoan, adda maysa a lalaki a nagtaud idiay Etiopia, maysa a eunuko nga addaan iti dakkel a turay iti babaen ni Candace, a reyna dagiti taga-Etiopia. Isuna ti mangimatmaton kadagiti amin a kinabaknang ti reyna. Immay isuna idiay Jerusalem tapno agdayaw.
So he arose and went. And behold an Ethiopian man, a eunuch, who was a high official (a chief treasurer) of Candace, the queen of Ethiopia, who had come to Jerusalem to worship
28 Pasubli isuna ken nakatugaw iti karwahena, ken basbasaenna ti libro ni profeta Isaias.
Was now on his way home, and was reading the Prophet Isaiah as he sat in his chariot.
29 Kinuna ti Espiritu kenni Felipe, “Sumang-atka ket kuyugem daytoy a karwahe.”
And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join that chariot."
30 Nagtaray ngarud ni Felipe a napan kenkuana, ket nangngegna a babsabaen ti lalaki ti insurat ni profeta Isaias, ket kinunana, “Maawatam met laeng kadi ti basbasaem?”
So Philip ran up, and heard him reading Isaiah the Prophet, and said to him. "Do you understand what you are reading?"
31 Kinuna ti taga-Etiopia, “Kasano a maawatak, no awan met iti mangidalan kaniak?” Ket nagpakaasi kenni Felipe nga umuli koma iti karwahe ket makitugaw kenkuana.
The eunuch answered, "Why, how can I unless someone shall show me the way?" And he begged Philip to get up and sit with him.
32 Ita, ti paset iti nasantoan a surat a basbasaen ti taga-Etiopia ket daytoy, “Kaiyariganna ti maysa a karnero a maip-ipan iti pagparpartian; ken naulimek isuna a kas iti maysa a karnero nga adda iti sangoanan ti mangpukis kenkuana, saanna nga ungapen ti ngiwatna:
Now the portion of Scripture which he was reading was as follows. He was led a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is dumb, So he opened not his mouth.
33 Iti pannaikababainna, naikkat ti pannakaukomna: Siasinonto ti mangipakaammo iti kaputotanna? Ta naalan ti biagna manipud iti daga.”
In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who will declare his posterity? For his life is cut off from the earth.
34 Nagsaludsod ngarud ti eunuko kenni Felipe a kinunana, “Pangaasim koma, siasino ti dakdakamaten ti profeta?” Ti bagina, wenno sabali a tao?”
"Pray," asked the eunuch of Philip, "of whom is the prophet speaking? Of himself, or of some one else?"
35 Inrugi ni Felipe nga agsao; inrugina iti daytoy a Nasantoan a Surat iti Isaias nga inkasaba iti eunoko ti maipanggep kenni Jesus.
Then Philip opened his lips, and beginning from that same scripture, he preached the gospel of Jesus to him.
36 Iti kaaddada iti dalan, dimtengda iti maysa a bassit a danum; kinuna iti eunuko, “Kitaem, adda danum ditoy; ania iti manglapped kaniak manipud iti pannakabautisar?”
And as they were going on their way they came to a certain water, and the eunuch said. "See, here is water! What hinders my being baptized?"
And Philip said, "If you believe with your whole heart, you may." The eunuch answered, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
38 Pinagsardeng ngarud ti taga-Etiopia ti karwahe. Bimmaba iti danum ni Felipe ken ti eunuko, ket binautisaran ni Felipe isuna.
And he ordered the chariot to stop; and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
39 Idi timmakdangda manipud iti danum, innala ti Espiritu ti Dios ni Felipe: ket saanen a nakita pay ti eunuko isuna, ket agragrag-o isuna a nagtuloy iti panagdaliasatna.
And when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but continued on his way rejoicing.
40 Ngem nagparang ni Felipe idiay Azoto. Nagna isuna iti dayta a rehion ket inkasabana ti ebanghelio kadagiti amin a siudad, agingga a nakadanon isuna idiay Cesarea.
Philip found himself at Ashdod. Then visiting town after town, he kept preaching the good news in all the cities until he reached Caesarea.
