< Ilu 20 >
1 Mmanya bụ onye na-akwa emo. Onye mkpọtụ ka ihe ọṅụṅụ na-aba nʼanya bụ. Onye ọbụla kwere ka ha duhie ya bụ onye nzuzu.
Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
2 Ọnụma eze na-emenye oke ụjọ nʼahụ dịka mbigbọ nke ọdụm; ndị na-akpasu ya iwe ga-atụfu ndụ ha.
The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3 Ọ bụ ihe nsọpụrụ nye onye na-ezere okwu na ụka, ma onye nzuzu ọbụla na-eme ngwa ise okwu.
It is an honor for a person to keep away from strife, but every fool quarrels.
4 Onye umengwụ adịghị arụ ọrụ ubi nʼoge ya. Nʼoge owuwe ihe ubi ọ pụghị ịchọta ihe oriri.
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Nzube niile nke dị mmadụ nʼobi bụ mmiri dị omimi, ma onye nwere nghọta na-adọpụta ha.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Ọtụtụ mmadụ na-asị na ha nwere ịhụnanya na-adịghị agharịpụ, ma onye kwesiri ntụkwasị obi, onye pụrụ ịchọta ya?
Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?
7 Onye ezi omume nke na-ejegharị nʼizuoke, ndị ihe na-agara nke ọma ka ụmụ ga-anọchi ya ga-abụ.
A righteous man walks in integrity; blessed are his children after him.
8 Mgbe eze na-anọkwasị nʼocheeze ya ikpe ikpe, ọ na-eji anya ya abụọ afụchapụ ihe ọjọọ niile.
A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Onye pụrụ ị sị, “Emeela m ka obi m dị ọcha; Abụ m onye dị ọcha, mmehie adịghịkwa nʼime m?”
Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"
10 Ihe ọtụtụ aghụghọ na ihe ọtụtụ nghọgbu, ha niile bụ ihe arụ nʼihu Onyenwe anyị.
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to YHWH.
11 Ọbụladị ụmụntakịrị ka a na-amata site nʼomume ha niile, nke a ọ pụtara nʼomume ha dị ọcha nʼezie a, bụrụkwa ihe ziri ezi?
Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 Ntị nke na-anụ ihe na anya nke na-ahụ ụzọ, ọ bụ Onyenwe anyị mere ha abụọ.
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, YHWH has made even both of them.
13 Ahụla ịrahụ ụra nʼanya, ka ị ghara ịghọ onye ụkpa. Bilie, mụrụ anya, rụsie ọrụ ike, ka i nweekwa ihe oriri.
Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 “Lee, ihe a jọrọ njọ, ọ baghị uru,” ka onye na-azụ ahịa na-asị, ma mgbe ọ pụrụ ọ na-anya isi nʼihi ihe ọ zụtara.
"It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 Ọlaedo dị, na ọtụtụ rubi nʼebe ọ bara ụba, ma egbugbere ọnụ nke na-ekwupụta ihe ọmụma bụ ọla dị oke ọnụahịa.
There is gold and abundance of rubies; but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16 Chiri uwe onye ahụ naara onye mba ọzọ nʼaka mbe. Jichiekwa ihe mbe ahụ o nyere nʼihi onye mba ọzọ ọ nara na mbe.
Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17 Nri e nwetara nʼụzọ aghụghọ na-atọ mmadụ ụtọ. Ma nʼikpeazụ aja ga-eju ya ọnụ.
Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 Buru ụzọ nata ndụmọdụ tupu i mee ihe ọbụla ị chọrọ ime; ebula agha ma i bubeghị ụzọ pịa ọpịpịa.
Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war.
19 Agwala onye na-akpa asịrị ihe nzuzo gị, nʼihi na ọ ga-akụ ya nʼekwe nye ụwa niile.
He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore do not keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 Oriọna onye ahụ na-akọcha nne ya na nna ya ka Chineke na-afụnyụ.
Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 Ihe nketa nke anatara nʼoke ọsịịsọ, agaghị agọzi ya nʼikpeazụ.
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning, won't be blessed in the end.
22 A sịkwala, “Aga m akwụghachi gị nʼihi ihe ọjọọ a.” Chere Onyenwe anyị, ọ ga-abọrọ gị ọbọ.
Do not say, "I will pay back evil." Wait for YHWH, and he will save you.
23 Onyenwe anyị kpọrọ ihe ọtụtụ gbara iche iche asị, ihe ọtụtụ aghụghọ adịghị atọ ya ụtọ.
YHWH detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are no good.
24 Onyenwe anyị na-eduzi nzọ ụkwụ niile nke mmadụ. Olee otu onye ọbụla ga-esi ghọta ụzọ ha?
A man's steps are from YHWH; how then can man understand his way?
25 Ime ngwangwa doo ihe nsọ, bụ ịma nʼọnya ma mesie tụgharịwa uche banyere imezu nkwa ahụ.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
26 Eze maara ihe na-afụchapụ ndị ajọ omume, ọ na-eji wịịlu ịfụcha mkpụrụ gaa nʼelu ha.
A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 Akọnuche mmadụ bụ ọkụ Onyenwe anyị ji enyocha mmụọ ya, ọ na-egwupụta ala ala obi ya, igosi anyị ihe anyị bụ.
The spirit of man is YHWH's lamp, searching all his innermost parts.
28 Ịhụnanya na ikwesi ntụkwasị obi na-echebe eze, site nʼịhụnanya ka ocheeze ya na-eguzo chịm.
Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
29 Ugwu a na-akwanyere ụmụ okorobịa bụ nʼihi ịdị ike ha, ma isi awọ bụ nsọpụrụ ndị okenye.
The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 Ọkpọ na mmerụ ahụ na-ehichapụ ihe ọjọọ, ụtarị na-asachapụ ime ime nke ahụ mmadụ.
Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
