< 1 Samuel 21 >

1 Devid jere nʼobodo Nob ịhụ Ahimelek, onye nchụaja. Ahimelek mara jijiji mgbe ọ hụrụ Devid. Ọ sịrị Devid, “Gịnị mere naanị gị ji bịa? Gịnị mere o nweghị onye so gị?”
And David cometh in to Nob, unto Ahimelech the priest, and Ahimelech trembleth at meeting David, and saith to him, 'Wherefore [art] thou thyself alone, and no man with thee?'
2 Devid zara Ahimelek, onye nchụaja sị, “Eze ziri m ozi dị mkpa, ma sị m, ‘Ka onye ọbụla ghara ịma ihe ọbụla banyere ozi a m na-eziga gị.’ Ma banyere ụmụ okorobịa m, agwala m ha ebe ha ga-ezute m.
And David saith to Ahimelech the priest, 'The king hath commanded me a matter, and he saith unto me, Let no man know anything of the matter about which I am sending thee, and which I have commanded thee; and the young men I have caused to know at such and such a place;
3 Ugbu a, olee ihe oriri i nwere? Nye m ogbe achịcha ise maọbụ ihe ọzọ i nwere.”
and now, what is there under thy hand? five loaves give into my hand, or that which is found.'
4 Onye nchụaja ahụ zara Devid sị, “Enweghị m achịcha ana edoghị nsọ nʼebe a. Ma otu ọ dị, e nwere ụfọdụ achịcha e doro nsọ nʼebe a, ma ọ bụrụ na ụmụ okorobịa gị na ha so debere onwe ha ọcha, na-emetụghị nwanyị ahụ.”
And the priest answereth David, and saith, 'There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if the youths have been kept only from women.'
5 Devid zara sị ya, “Nʼezie, anyị ekwebeghị ka ụmụ nwanyị bịa anyị nso, dịka anyị dị mbụ eme ma anyị na-eje ozi. Ndị ikom ndị a na-edo onwe ha nsọ ọ bụladị mgbe njem anyị na-adịghị nsọ ka ọfọdụzie njem nke taa.”
And David answereth the priest, and saith to him, 'Surely, if women have been restrained from us as heretofore in my going out, then the vessels of the young men are holy, and it [is] a common way: and also, surely to-day it is sanctified in the vessel.'
6 Ebe nri ọzọ na-adịghị, onye nchụaja ahụ nyere Devid achịcha nsọ, bụ achịcha nke iche nʼIhu Onyenwe anyị, nke ewepụtara site nʼihu Onyenwe anyị nʼime ebe ịchụ aja, debekwa achịcha ọhụrụ nke e ji gbanwee nke ochie dị nʼebe ahụ.
And the priest giveth to him the holy thing, for there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence which is turned aside from the presence of Jehovah to put hot bread in the day of its being taken away.
7 Ma otu onye odibo Sọl nọ nʼebe ahụ nʼụbọchị ahụ, onye e jigidere nʼihu Onyenwe anyị. Ọ bụ Doeg, onye Edọm onyeisi ndị na-azụ anụ ụlọ Sọl.
And there [is] a man of the servants of Saul on that day detained before Jehovah, and his name [is] Doeg the Edomite, chief of the shepherds whom Saul hath.
8 Devid jụrụ Ahimelek ajụjụ sị ya, “I nweghị ùbe maọbụ mma agha nʼebe a? Ewetaghị m mma agha m maọbụ ngwa agha ọzọ, nʼihi na ozi eze ziri anyị dị oke ngwangwa.”
And David saith to Ahimelech, 'And is there not here under thy hand spear or sword? for neither my sword nor my vessels have I taken in my hand, for the matter of the king was urgent.'
9 Onye nchụaja zaghachiri, “Mma agha Golaịat, onye Filistia, onye ahụ i tigburu na ndagwurugwu Ịla dị nʼebe a, a fụchiri ya nʼakwa nʼazụ efọọd. Ọ bụrụ na ị chọrọ ya, were ya, nʼihi na ọ dịghị mma agha ọzọ dị nʼebe a ma ọ bụghị nke ahụ.” Devid sịrị, “Ọ dịghị nke dịka ya, nye m ya.”
And the priest saith, 'The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou didst smite in the valley of Elah, lo, it is wrapped in a garment behind the ephod, if it thou dost take to thyself, take; for there is none other save it in this [place].' And David saith, 'There is none like it — give it to me.'
10 Nʼụbọchị ahụ, Devid gbapụrụ ọsọ site nʼebe Sọl nọ gbakwuru Akish eze ndị Gat.
And David riseth and fleeth on that day from the face of Saul, and cometh in unto Achish king of Gath;
and the servants of Achish say unto him, 'Is not this David king of the land? is it not of this one they sing in dances, saying, 'Saul smote among his thousands, and David among his myriads?'
12 Mgbe Devid nụrụ okwu ndị a, ọ tụrụ egwu ihe Akish eze Gat ga-eme ya.
And David layeth these words in his heart, and is exceedingly afraid of the face of Achish king of Gath,
13 Nʼihi ya ọ gbanwere omume ya, bido ime dịka onyeisi na-adịghị mma. O bidokwara ịka akara nʼibo, bidokwa na-agụsasị ọnụ mmiri nʼahụọnụ ya.
and changeth his behaviour before their eyes, and feigneth himself mad in their hand, and scribbleth on the doors of the gate, and letteth down his spittle unto his beard.
14 Akish gwara ndị ozi ya okwu sị ha, “Leenụ nwoke a! Ọ bụ onyeisi mebiri! Gịnị mere unu ji kpọtara m ya?
And Achish saith unto his servants, 'Lo, ye see a man acting as a madman; why do ye bring him in unto me?
15 Ndị na-ayị ara ha kọrọ m, nke mere unu ji kpọtara m nwoke a nʼebe a ka ọ bịa na-eme ka onye na-ayị ara nʼihu m? O kwesiri ka onye dị otu a bata nʼụlọ m?”
A lack of madmen [have] I, that ye have brought in this one to act as a madman by me! doth this one come in unto my house?'
