1 इस प्रदेश के लोग, जो बाबेल के राजा नबूकदनेज्ज़र द्वारा बंधुआई में ले जाए गए थे और जो बंधुआई से यहूदिया और येरूशलेम, अपने-अपने नगर को लौट आए थे, वे इस प्रकार है
And these [are] sons of the province who are going up—of the captives of the expulsion that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed to Babylon, and they return to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his city—
2 ये वे हैं, जो ज़ेरुब्बाबेल के साथ आए थे: येशुआ, नेहेमियाह, सेराइयाह, रीलाइयाह, मोरदकय, बिलषान, मिसपार, बिगवाई, रेहुम और बाअनाह. इस्राएली प्रजा के पुरुषों की संख्या अपने-अपने कुलों के अनुसार निम्न लिखित है:
who have come in with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:

The singers: sons of Asaph, one hundred twenty-eight.

Sons of the gatekeepers: sons of Shallum, sons of Ater, sons of Talmon, sons of Akkub, sons of Hatita, sons of Shobai, the whole [are] one hundred thirty-nine.

The Nethinim: sons of Ziha, sons of Hasupha, sons of Tabbaoth,
44 केरोस, सियाहा, पदोन,
sons of Keros, sons of Siaha, sons of Padon,
45 लेबानाह, हागाबाह, अक्कूब,
sons of Lebanah, sons of Hagabah, sons of Akkub,
46 हागाब, शामलाई, हनान,
sons of Hagab, sons of Shalmai, sons of Hanan,
47 गिद्देल, गाहर, रेआइयाह,
sons of Giddel, sons of Gahar, sons of Reaiah,
48 रेज़िन, नेकोदा, गज्ज़ाम,

55 शलोमोन के सेवकों के वंशज: हसोफेरेथ, पेरुदा, सोताई,
Sons of the servants of Solomon: sons of Sotai, sons of Sophereth, sons of Peruda,
56 याला, दारकोन, गिद्देल,
sons of Jaalah, sons of Darkon, sons of Giddel,
57 शेपाथियाह, हत्तील, पोचेरेथ-हज्ज़ेबाइम, आमि.
sons of Shephatiah, sons of Hattil, sons of Pochereth of Zebaim, sons of Ami.
58 मंदिर के सेवक और शलोमोन के सेवकों की कुल गिनती: 392
All the Nethinim, and the sons of the servants of Solomon [are] three hundred ninety-two.
59 ये वे हैं, जो तेल-मेलाह, तेल-हरषा, करूब, अद्दान तथा इम्मर से आए, तथा इनके पास अपनी वंशावली के सबूत नहीं थे, कि वे इस्राएल के वंशज थे भी या नहीं:
And these [are] those going up from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsa, Cherub, Addan, Immer, and they have not been able to declare the house of their fathers, and their seed, whether they [are] of Israel:
60 देलाइयाह के वंशज, तोबियाह के वंशज तथा नेकोदा के वंशज 652
sons of Delaiah, sons of Tobiah, sons of Nekoda, six hundred fifty-two.
61 पुरोहितों में: होबाइयाह के वंशज, हक्कोज़ के वंशज तथा बारज़िल्लाई, जिसने गिलआदवासी बारज़िल्लाई की पुत्रियों में से एक के साथ विवाह किया था और उसने उन्हीं का नाम रख लिया.
And of the sons of the priests: sons of Habaiah, sons of Koz, sons of Barzillai (who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and is called by their name);
62 इन्होंने अपने पुरखों के पंजीकरण की खोज की, किंतु इन्हें सच्चाई मालूम न हो सकी; तब इन्हें सांस्कृतिक रूप से अपवित्र माना गया तथा इन्हें पुरोहित जवाबदारी से दूर रखा गया.
these have sought their register among those reckoning themselves by genealogy, and they have not been found, and they are redeemed from the priesthood,
63 अधिपति ने उन्हें आदेश दिया कि वे उस समय तक अति पवित्र भोजन न खाएं, जब तक वहां कोई ऐसा पुरोहित न हो, जो उरीम तथा थुम्मिन से सलाह न ले लें.
and the Tirshatha says to them that they do not eat of the most holy things until the standing up of a priest with [the] Lights and with [the] Perfections.
64 सारी सभा की पूरी संख्या हुई 42,360.
All the assembly together [is] forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,
65 इनके अलावा 7,337 दास-दासियां तथा 200 गायक-गायिकाएं भी थी.
apart from their servants and their handmaids; these [are] seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven: and of them [are] two hundred male and female singers.
66 उनके 736 घोड़े, 245 खच्चर,
Their horses [are] seven hundred thirty-six, their mules, two hundred forty-five,
67 435 ऊंट तथा 6,720 गधे थे.
their camels, four hundred thirty-five, donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 कुलों के कुछ प्रधान जब येरूशलेम में याहवेह के भवन में पहुंचे, उन्होंने अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार परमेश्वर के भवन को उसी नींव पर दोबारा बनाने के लिए दान दिया.
And some of the heads of the fathers in their coming to the house of YHWH that [is] in Jerusalem, have offered willingly for the house of God, to establish it on its base;
69 उन्होंने अपनी-अपनी क्षमता के अनुसार इस काम के लिए 61,000 सोने के सिक्के, 5,000 चांदी के सिक्के तथा 100 पुरोहित वस्त्र खजाने में जमा करा दिए.
according to their power they have given to the treasure of the work; of gold, sixty-one thousand drams, and of silver, five thousand pounds, and of priests’ coats, one hundred.
70 इस समय पुरोहित, लेवी, द्वारपाल, गायक, कुछ सामान्य प्रजाजन, मंदिर के सेवक, जो सभी इस्राएल वंशज ही थे, अपने-अपने नगरों में रहने लगे. पूरा इस्राएल अपने-अपने नगर में बस चुका था.
And the priests dwell, and the Levites, and of the people, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, in their cities; even all Israel in their cities.
