As the cloud dissolveth and wasteth away, So he that goeth down to the grave shall arise no more; (Sheol )
| גבהי שמים מה תפעל עמקה משאול מה תדע׃ (Sheol ) |
'Tis high as heaven, what canst thou do? Deeper than hell, what canst thou know? (Sheol )
| מי יתן בשאול תצפנני תסתירני עד שוב אפך תשית לי חק ותזכרני׃ (Sheol ) |
O that thou wouldst hide me in the under-world! That thou wouldst conceal me till thy wrath be past! That thou wouldst appoint me a time, and then remember me! (Sheol )
| אם אקוה שאול ביתי בחשך רפדתי יצועי׃ (Sheol ) |
Yea, I look to the grave as my home; I have made my bed in darkness. (Sheol )
| בדי שאל תרדנה אם יחד על עפר נחת׃ (Sheol ) |
It must go down to the bars of the under-world, As soon as there is rest for me in the dust. (Sheol )
| יבלו בטוב ימיהם וברגע שאול יחתו׃ (Sheol ) |
They spend their days in prosperity, And in a moment go down to the under-world. (Sheol )
| ציה גם חם יגזלו מימי שלג שאול חטאו׃ (Sheol ) |
As drought and heat consume the snow waters, So doth the grave the wicked. (Sheol )
| ערום שאול נגדו ואין כסות לאבדון׃ (Sheol ) |
The under-world is naked before him, And destruction is without covering. (Sheol )
| כי אין במות זכרך בשאול מי יודה לך׃ (Sheol ) |
For in death no praise is given to thee; In the underworld who can give thee thanks? (Sheol )
| ישובו רשעים לשאולה כל גוים שכחי אלהים׃ (Sheol ) |
The wicked shall be driven into the underworld; Yea, all the nations that forger God. (Sheol )
| כי לא תעזב נפשי לשאול לא תתן חסידך לראות שחת׃ (Sheol ) |
For thou wilt not give me up to the underworld; Nor wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see the pit. (Sheol )
| חבלי שאול סבבוני קדמוני מוקשי מות׃ (Sheol ) |
The snares of the underworld surrounded me, And the nets of death seized upon me. (Sheol )
| יהוה העלית מן שאול נפשי חייתני מיורדי בור׃ (Sheol ) |
O LORD! thou hast raised me up from the underworld; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Sheol )
| יהוה אל אבושה כי קראתיך יבשו רשעים ידמו לשאול׃ (Sheol ) |
Let me not be put to shame, O LORD! for I have called upon thee; Let the wicked be put to shame; Let them be silenced in the grave! (Sheol )
| כצאן לשאול שתו מות ירעם וירדו בם ישרים לבקר וצירם לבלות שאול מזבל לו׃ (Sheol ) |
Like sheep they are cast into the underworld; Death shall feed upon them; And the upright shall soon trample upon them. Their form shall be consumed in the underworld, And they shall no more have a dwelling-place. (Sheol )
| אך אלהים יפדה נפשי מיד שאול כי יקחני סלה׃ (Sheol ) |
But God will redeem my life from the underworld; Yea, he will take me under his care. (Pause) (Sheol )
| ישימות עלימו ירדו שאול חיים כי רעות במגורם בקרבם׃ (Sheol ) |
May sudden death seize upon them! May they go down to the underworld alive! For wickedness is in their dwellings, in the midst of them. (Sheol )
| כי חסדך גדול עלי והצלת נפשי משאול תחתיה׃ (Sheol ) |
For thy kindness to me hath been great; Thou hast delivered me from the depths of the underworld! (Sheol )
| כי שבעה ברעות נפשי וחיי לשאול הגיעו׃ (Sheol ) |
For my soul is full of misery, And my life draweth near to the underworld. (Sheol )
| מי גבר יחיה ולא יראה מות ימלט נפשו מיד שאול סלה׃ (Sheol ) |
What man liveth, and seeth not death? Who can deliver himself from the underworld? (Sheol )
| אפפוני חבלי מות ומצרי שאול מצאוני צרה ויגון אמצא׃ (Sheol ) |
The snares of death encompassed me, And the pains of the underworld seized upon me; I found distress and sorrow. (Sheol )
| אם אסק שמים שם אתה ואציעה שאול הנך׃ (Sheol ) |
If I ascend into heaven, thou art there! If I make my bed in the underworld, behold, thou art there! (Sheol )
| כמו פלח ובקע בארץ נפזרו עצמינו לפי שאול׃ (Sheol ) |
So are our bones scattered at the mouth of the underworld, As when one furroweth and ploweth up the land. (Sheol )
| נבלעם כשאול חיים ותמימים כיורדי בור׃ (Sheol ) |
Let us swallow them up alive, like the underworld, Yea, in full health, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol )

Her feet go down to death; Her steps lay hold of the under-world. (Sheol )
| דרכי שאול ביתה ירדות אל חדרי מות׃ (Sheol ) |
Her house is the way to the under-world, Leading down to the chambers of death. (Sheol )
| ולא ידע כי רפאים שם בעמקי שאול קראיה׃ (Sheol ) |
But he considereth not that the dead are there, That in the vales of the under-world are her guests. (Sheol )
| שאול ואבדון נגד יהוה אף כי לבות בני אדם׃ (Sheol ) |
The underworld, yea, the region of death, is before the LORD; How much more the hearts of the sons of men! (Sheol )
| ארח חיים למעלה למשכיל למען סור משאול מטה׃ (Sheol ) |
The path of life is upward for the wise, So that he turneth away from the underworld beneath. (Sheol )
| אתה בשבט תכנו ונפשו משאול תציל׃ (Sheol ) |
Beat him thyself with the rod, And thou shalt rescue him from the underworld. (Sheol )
| שאול ואבדה לא תשבענה ועיני האדם לא תשבענה׃ (Sheol ) |
The realms of the dead are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied. (Sheol )
| שאול ועצר רחם ארץ לא שבעה מים ואש לא אמרה הון׃ (Sheol ) |
The underworld, and the barren womb; The earth, which is not satiated with water, And fire, which never saith, “It is enough!” (Sheol )
| כל אשר תמצא ידך לעשות בכחך עשה כי אין מעשה וחשבון ודעת וחכמה בשאול אשר אתה הלך שמה׃ (Sheol ) |
Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might! For there is no work nor device nor knowledge nor wisdom in the under-world, whither thou goest. (Sheol )
| שימני כחותם על לבך כחותם על זרועך כי עזה כמות אהבה קשה כשאול קנאה רשפיה רשפי אש שלהבתיה׃ (Sheol ) |
O set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm! For love is strong as death; True love is firm as the grave: Its flames are flames of fire, The fire of Jehovah. (Sheol )
| לכן הרחיבה שאול נפשה ופערה פיה לבלי חק וירד הדרה והמונה ושאונה ועלז בה׃ (Sheol ) |
Therefore doth the under-world enlarge its greedy throat, And stretch open its mouth without measure, And down go her nobility and her wealth, Her busy throng, and all that was joyful within her. (Sheol )
| שאל לך אות מעם יהוה אלהיך העמק שאלה או הגבה למעלה׃ (Sheol ) |
“Ask thee a sign of Jehovah, thy God; Ask it from below, or in the height above!” (Sheol )
| שאול מתחת רגזה לך לקראת בואך עורר לך רפאים כל עתודי ארץ הקים מכסאותם כל מלכי גוים׃ (Sheol ) |
The under-world is in commotion on account of thee, To meet thee at thy coming; It stirreth up before thee the shades, all the mighty of the earth; It arouseth from their thrones all the kings of the nations; (Sheol )
| הורד שאול גאונך המית נבליך תחתיך יצע רמה ומכסיך תולעה׃ (Sheol ) |
Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, And the sound of thy harps. Vermin have become thy couch, And worms thy covering. (Sheol )
| אך אל שאול תורד אל ירכתי בור׃ (Sheol ) |
But thou art brought down to the grave, To the depths of the pit. (Sheol )
| כי אמרתם כרתנו ברית את מות ועם שאול עשינו חזה שיט שוטף כי עבר לא יבואנו כי שמנו כזב מחסנו ובשקר נסתרנו׃ (Sheol ) |
Since ye say, “We have entered into a covenant with death, And with the under-world have we made an agreement, The overflowing scourge, when it passeth through, shall not reach us; For we have made falsehood our refuge, And in deceit we have hidden ourselves.” (Sheol )
| וכפר בריתכם את מות וחזותכם את שאול לא תקום שוט שוטף כי יעבר והייתם לו למרמס׃ (Sheol ) |
And your covenant with death shall be broken, And your agreement with the under-world shall not stand; When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, By it shall ye be beaten down. (Sheol )
| אני אמרתי בדמי ימי אלכה בשערי שאול פקדתי יתר שנותי׃ (Sheol ) |
I said: “Now, in the quiet of my days, shall I go down to the gates of the under-world; I am deprived of the residue of my years.” (Sheol )
| כי לא שאול תודך מות יהללך לא ישברו יורדי בור אל אמתך׃ (Sheol ) |
For the under-world cannot praise thee; The realms of death cannot celebrate thee; They that go down to the pit cannot wait for thy faithfulness. (Sheol )
| ותשרי למלך בשמן ותרבי רקחיך ותשלחי צריך עד מרחק ותשפילי עד שאול׃ (Sheol ) |
Thou goest to the king with oil, And takest much precious perfume; Thou sendest thine ambassadors afar, Yea, down to the under-world. (Sheol )
| כה אמר אדני יהוה ביום רדתו שאולה האבלתי כסתי עליו את תהום ואמנע נהרותיה ויכלאו מים רבים ואקדר עליו לבנון וכל עצי השדה עליו עלפה׃ (Sheol ) |
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when he went down to the grave, I caused the deep to mourn, I covered it for him; I restrained on account of him the streams, and the great waters were kept back; And I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, And all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol )
| מקול מפלתו הרעשתי גוים בהורדי אתו שאולה את יורדי בור וינחמו בארץ תחתית כל עצי עדן מבחר וטוב לבנון כל שתי מים׃ (Sheol ) |
At the sound of his fall I made the nations to shake, When I cast him down to the grave, To them that have gone down to the pit; And all the trees of Eden, The choice and best of Lebanon, Even all that drink water, Were comforted in the lower parts of the earth. (Sheol )
| גם הם אתו ירדו שאלה אל חללי חרב וזרעו ישבו בצלו בתוך גוים׃ (Sheol ) |
They also went down into the grave with him, To them that have been slain with the sword; They also that were his arm, That dwelt under his shadow among the nations. (Sheol )
| ידברו לו אלי גבורים מתוך שאול את עזריו ירדו שכבו הערלים חללי חרב׃ (Sheol ) |
The mightiest heroes from the midst of the pit shall speak to him and his helpers; For they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword. (Sheol )
| ולא ישכבו את גבורים נפלים מערלים אשר ירדו שאול בכלי מלחמתם ויתנו את חרבותם תחת ראשיהם ותהי עונתם על עצמותם כי חתית גבורים בארץ חיים׃ (Sheol ) |
Shall they not lie with the mighty of the uncircumcised that are fallen, Who have gone down to the pit with their weapons of war, Having their swords laid under their heads, And their iniquity resting upon their bones, Though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living? (Sheol )
| מיד שאול אפדם ממות אגאלם אהי דבריך מות אהי קטבך שאול נחם יסתר מעיני׃ (Sheol ) |
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death; O death, where is thy plague? O grave, where is thy destruction? Repentance is hidden from mine eyes. (Sheol )
| אם יחתרו בשאול משם ידי תקחם ואם יעלו השמים משם אורידם׃ (Sheol ) |
Though they dig down to the under-world, Thence shall my hand take them; Though they climb up to heaven, Thence will I bring them down. (Sheol )
| ויאמר קראתי מצרה לי אל יהוה ויענני מבטן שאול שועתי שמעת קולי׃ (Sheol ) |
and said: — I cried by reason of my distress to Jehovah, And he heard me: Out of the depth of the under-world I cried, And thou didst hear my voice. (Sheol )
| ואף כי היין בוגד גבר יהיר ולא ינוה אשר הרחיב כשאול נפשו והוא כמות ולא ישבע ויאסף אליו כל הגוים ויקבץ אליו כל העמים׃ (Sheol ) |
Behold, the man of wine is outrageous; The proud man remaineth not at rest; He enlargeth his desire as the grave; He is as death, and cannot be satisfied; He gathereth to himself all the nations, And collecteth to himself all the kingdoms. (Sheol )
| אבל אני אמר לכם כל אשר יקצף על אחיו חנם מחיב הוא לבית דין ואשר יאמר אל אחיו רקא מחיב הוא לסנהדרין ואשר יאמר אתה הנבל מחיב לאש גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
But I say to you, that whoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the Judges; and whoever shall say to his brother, Simpleton! shall be in danger of the Council; and whoever shall say, Fool! shall be in danger of hell-fire. (Geenna )
| ואם תכשילך עין ימינך נקר אותה והשלך ממך כי טוב לך אשר יאבד אחד מאבריך מרדת כל גופך אל גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out, and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna )
| ואם ידך הימנית תכשילך קצץ אותה והשלך ממך כי טוב לך אשר יאבד אחד מאבריך מרדת כל גופך אל גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if thy right hand cause thee to offend, cut it off, and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, than that thy whole body should go away into hell. (Geenna )
| ואל תיראי מן ההרגים את הגוף ואת הנפש לא יוכלו להרג אך תיראו את אשר יוכל לאבד גם את הנפש גם את הגוף בגיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And fear not those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna )
| ואת כפר נחום המרוממה עד השמים עד שאול תורדי כי הגבורות אשר נעשו בתוכך לו בסדום נעשו כי עתה עמדה על תלה עד היום הזה׃ (Hadēs ) |
And thou, Capernaum! shalt thou be exalted to heaven? Thou shalt be brought down to the underworld; for if the miracles which were done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs )
| וכל אשר ידבר דבר חרפה על בן האדם יסלח לו והמחרף את רוח הקדש לא יסלח לו לא בעולם הזה ולא בעולם הבא׃ (aiōn ) |
And whoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this world, or in the world to come. (aiōn )
| והנזרע בין הקצים הוא השמע את הדבר ודאגת העולם הזה ומרמת העשר ימעכו את הדבר ופרי לא יהיה לו׃ (aiōn ) |
And what was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )
| והאיב אשר זרעם הוא השטן והקציר הוא קץ העולם והקצרים הם המלאכים׃ (aiōn ) |
the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (aiōn )
| והנה כאשר ילקטו הזונין ונשרפו באש כן יהיה בקץ העולם הזה׃ (aiōn ) |
As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the world. (aiōn )
| כן יהיה בקץ העולם יצאו המלאכים והבדילו את הרשעים מתוך הצדיקים׃ (aiōn ) |
So will it be at the end of the world. The angels will come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous, (aiōn )
| ואף אני אמר אליך כי אתה פטרוס ועל הסלע הזה אבנה את קהלתי ושערי שאול לא יגברו עליה׃ (Hadēs ) |
And I on my part say to thee, that thou art Peter, a rock, and on this rock will I build my church, and the gates of the underworld shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs )
| ואם תכשילך ידך או רגלך קצץ אותה והשלך ממך טוב לך לבוא לחיים פסח או קטע מהיות לך שתי ידים או שתי רגלים ותשלך אל אש עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And if thy hand or thy foot is causing thee to fall, cut it off, and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life maimed or lame, than having two hands, or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. (aiōnios )
| ואם עינך תכשליך נקר אותה והשלך ממך טוב לך לבוא לחיים בעין אחת מהיות לך שתי עינים ותשלך אל אש גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if thine eye is causing thee to fall, pluck it out, and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire. (Geenna )
| והנה איש נגש אליו ויאמר רבי הטוב אי זה הטוב אשר אעשנו לקנות חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
And lo! one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have everlasting life? (aiōnios )
| וכל איש אשר עזב את בתיו ואת אחיו ואת אחיותיו ואת אביו ואת אמו ואת אשתו ואת בניו ואת שדותיו למען שמי הוא יקח מאה שערים וחיי עולמים יירש׃ (aiōnios ) |
And every one who hath left brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, or houses, for the sake of my name, will receive many fold more, and will inherit everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| וירא תאנה אחת על הדרך ויקרב אליה ולא מצא בה מאומה מלבד העלים ויאמר אליה מעתה לא יהיה ממך פרי עד עולם ותיבש התאנה פתאם׃ (aiōn ) |
And seeing one fig-tree by the road-side, he went up to it, and found nothing on it, but leaves only; and he saith to it, Let there be no fruit from thee hencefoward for ever. And immediately the fig-tree withered. (aiōn )
| אוי לכם הסופרים והפרושים החנפים כי סובבים אתם בים וביבשה למען גיר גר אחד וכי יתגיר תעשו אותו לבן גיהנם כפלים יותר מכם׃ (Geenna ) |
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is made, ye make him two-fold mole a son of hell than yourselves. (Geenna )
| נחשים אתם ילדי הצפעונים איכה תמלטו מדין גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
Serpents, brood of vipers! how can ye escape the punishment of hell? (Geenna )
| וישב על הר הזיתים ויגשו אליו התלמידים לבדם ויאמרו אמר נא לנו מתי תהיה זאת ומה הוא אות בואך ואות קץ העולם׃ (aiōn ) |
And as he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when will these things be? and what will be the signs of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (aiōn )
| ואז יאמר גם אל הנצבים לשמאלו לכו מעלי אתם הארורים אל אש עולם המוכנה לשטן ולמלאכיו׃ (aiōnios ) |
Then will he say also to those on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the everlasting fire, which is prepared for the Devil and his angels. (aiōnios )
| וילכו אלה למעצבת עולם והצדיקים לחיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And these will go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| ולמדתם אתם לשמר את כל אשר צויתי אתכם והנה אנכי אתכם כל הימים עד קץ העולם אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
teaching them to observe all things, whatever I have commanded you. And, lo! I am with you always, unto the end of the world. (aiōn )
| אך המגדף את רוח הקדש אין לו סליחה לעולם כי יאשם בעונו לנצח׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath no forgiveness forever, but is exposed to everlasting sin.— (aiōn , aiōnios )
| ודאגות העולם הזה ומרמת העשר ותאות שאר הדברים באות וממעכות את הדבר ופרי לא יהיה לו׃ (aiōn ) |
but the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )
| ואם ידך תכשילך קצץ אתה טוב לך לבוא קטע לחיים מהיות לך שתי ידים ותלך אל גיהנם אל האש אשר לא תכבה׃ (Geenna ) |
And if thy hand cause thee to fall away, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having the two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that is unquenchable. (Geenna )
| ואם רגלך תכשילך קצץ אתה טוב לך לבוא פסח לחיים מהיות לך שתי רגלים ותשלך לגיהנם אל האש אשר לא תכבה׃ (Geenna ) |
And if thy foot is causing thee to fall away, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having the two feet to be cast into hell. (Geenna )
| ואם עינך תכשילך עקר אתה טוב לך לבוא אל מלכות האלהים בעין אחת מהיות לך שתי עינים ותשלך לגיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if thine eye is causing thee to fall away, pluck it out; it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell, (Geenna )
| ויהי בצאתו לדרך והנה איש רץ אליו ויכרע לפניו וישאל אותו רבי הטוב מה אעשה ואירש חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And as he was going out into the way, a certain one running up and kneeling to him, asked him, Good teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit everlasting life? (aiōnios )
| אשר לא יקח עתה בזמן הזה בכל הרדיפות מאה פעמים כהמה בתים ואחים ואחיות ואמות ובנים ושדות ובעולם הבא חיי עולמים׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
who will not receive a hundredfold in the time that now is, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions, and in the world to come everlasting life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| ויען ויאמר אליה מעתה איש אל יאכל פרי ממך עד עולם וישמעו תלמידיו׃ (aiōn ) |
And he answering said to it, Let no one eat fruit from thee henceforth for ever. And his disciples heard him. (aiōn )
| ועל בית יעקב ימלך לעולם ועד ולמלכותו אין קץ׃ (aiōn ) |
and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (aiōn )
| כאשר דבר אל אבותינו לאברהם ולזרעו עד עולם׃ (aiōn ) |
toward Abraham and his offspring for ever, as he spoke to our fathers. (aiōn )
| כאשר דבר בפי נביאיו הקדושים אשר מעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets of old, (aiōn )
| ויתחנן לו לבלתי צות אתם לרדת אל התהום׃ (Abyssos ) |
And they besought him not to command them to go away into the abyss. (Abyssos )
| ואת כפר נחום אשר עד השמים התרוממת אל שאול תורדי׃ (Hadēs ) |
And thou, Capernaum! shalt thou be exalted to heaven? thou shalt be brought down to the underworld. (Hadēs )
| והנה אחד מבעלי התורה קם לנסותו ויאמר מורה מה אעשה ואירש חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And lo! a certain lawyer stood up to try him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life? (aiōnios )
| אבל אורה אתכם את אשר תיראו יראו את אשר יש לו שלטן אחרי המיתו להשליך אל גיהנם הן אני אמר לכם אותו תיראון׃ (Geenna ) |
But I will warn you whom to fear; fear him who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say to you, fear him. (Geenna )
| וישבח האדון את פקיד העולה על אשר הערים לעשות כי בני העולם הזה ערומים הם בדורם מבני האור׃ (aiōn ) |
And the lord commended the unjust steward for having done wisely; for the sons of this world are wiser toward their generation than the sons of light. (aiōn )
| וגם אני אמר לכם עשו לכם אהבים בממון העולה למען בעת כלתו יאספו אתכם אל משכנות עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And I say to you, Make to yourselves friends with the unrighteous mammon; that, when it faileth, ye may be received into everlasting habitations. (aiōnios )
| ובהיותו במכאבות בשאול וישא את עיניו וירא את אברהם מרחוק ואת לעזר בחיקו׃ (Hadēs ) |
And in the underworld he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs )
| וישאלהו קצין אחד לאמר רבי הטוב מה לי לעשות ואירש חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life? (aiōnios )
| ולא יקח תחתיהם כפלים הרבה בעולם הזה ובעולם הבא חיי עולמים׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
who will not receive many fold more in the present time, and in the world to come everlasting life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| ויען ישוע ויאמר אליהם בני העולם הזה ישאו נשים ותנשאנה׃ (aiōn ) |
And Jesus said to them, The sons of this world marry, and are given in marriage; (aiōn )
| והזכים לנחל את העולם הבא ואת תחית המתים לא ישאו נשים ולא תנשאנה׃ (aiōn ) |
but they who have been accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage; (aiōn )
| למען לא יאבד כל המאמין בו כי אם יחיה חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
that every one who believeth in him may have everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| כי ככה אהב האלהים את העולם עד אשר נתן את בנו את יחידו למען לא יאבד כל המאמין בו כי אם יחיה חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
For God so loved the world, that he gave the only begotten Son, that every one who believeth in him may not perish, but may have everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| כל המאמין בבן יש לו חיי עולמים ואשר לא יאמין בבן לא יראה חיים כי אם חרון אלהים ישכן עליו׃ (aiōnios ) |
He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and he that disobeyeth the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios )
| ואשר ישתה מן המים אשר אנכי נתן לו לא יצמא לעולם כי המים אשר אתן לו יהיו בקרבו למקור מים נבעים לחיי העולמים׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
but whoever drinketh of the water that I will give him, will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become within him a well of water springing up to everlasting life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| והקוצר יקח שכרו ויאסף תבואה לחיי עולמים למען ישמחו יחדו גם הזרע גם הקוצר׃ (aiōnios ) |
Already is the reaper receiving wages, and gathering fruit unto everlasting life; that both the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. (aiōnios )
| אמן אמן אני אמר לכם השמע דברי ומאמין לשלחי יש לו חיי עולמים ולא יבא במשפט כי עבר ממות לחיים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Truly, truly do I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and cometh not into condemnation, but hath passed out of death into life. (aiōnios )
| דרשו בכתובים אשר תחשבו שיש לכם חיי עולמים בהם והמה המעידים עלי׃ (aiōnios ) |
Ye search the Scriptures, because ye yourselves think that in them ye have everlasting life; and it is they which testify of me; (aiōnios )
| אל תעמלו במאכל אשר יאבד כי אם במאכל הקים לחיי עולמים אשר בן האדם יתננו לכם כי בו חתם חותמו אביו האלהים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Labor not for the food that perisheth, but for the food that endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man giveth to you; for on him hath the Father set his seal, even God. (aiōnios )
| וזה רצון שלחי אשר כל הראה את הבן ומאמין בו יהיו לו חיי עולמים ואני אקימנו ביום האחרון׃ (aiōnios ) |
For this is the will of my Father, that every one who looketh on the Son and believeth in him, shall have everlasting life; and I will raise him up in the last day. (aiōnios )
| אמן אמן אני אמר לכם המאמין בי לו חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Truly, truly do I say to you, He that believeth hath everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| אנכי הלחם החי הירד מן השמים איש כי יאכל מן הלחם הזה יחיה לעולם והלחם אשר אתננו הוא בשרי אשר אני נתן בעד חיי העולם׃ (aiōn ) |
I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eat of my bread, he will live for ever. Yea, and the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. (aiōn )
| האכל את בשרי והשתה את דמי יש לו חיי עולמים ואני אקימנו ביום האחרון׃ (aiōnios ) |
He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlasting life; and I will raise him up in the last day. (aiōnios )
| זה הוא הלחם הירד מן השמים לא כאשר אכלו אבותיכם את המן וימתו האכל את הלחם הזה יחיה לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
This is the bread which came down from heaven; not as the fathers ate, and died; he that eateth this bread will live for ever. (aiōn )
| ויען אתו שמעון פטרוס אדני אל מי נלך דברי חיי עולמים עמך׃ (aiōnios ) |
Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast words of everlasting life; (aiōnios )
| והעבד לא ישכן בבית לעולם הבן ישכן לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
And the bond-servant abideth not in the house for ever; the son abideth for ever. (aiōn )
| אמן אמן אני אמר לכם אם ישמר איש את דברי לא יראה מות לנצח׃ (aiōn ) |
Truly, truly do I say to you, If any one keep my word, he will never see death. (aiōn )
| ויאמרו אליו היהודים עתה ידענו כי שד בך הן אברהם והנביאים מתו ואתה אמרת אם ישמר איש את דברי לא יטעם מות לנצח׃ (aiōn ) |
The Jews said to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If any one keep my word, he will never taste of death. (aiōn )
| מעולם לא נשמע כי פקח איש עיני עור מרחם׃ (aiōn ) |
Since the world began, it was never heard that any one opened the eyes of a man born blind. (aiōn )
| ואני אתן להן חיי עולמים ולא תאבדנה לנצח ואיש לא יחטף אתהן מידי׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
and I give them everlasting life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one tear them out of my hand. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| וכל החי אשר יאמין בי לא ימות לעולם התאמיני זאת׃ (aiōn ) |
and whoever liveth and believeth in me will never die. Believest thou this? (aiōn )
| האהב את נפשו יאבדנה והשנא את נפשו בעולם הזה ינצרה לחיי נצח׃ (aiōnios ) |
He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world will keep it unto everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| ויענו אתו העם ויאמרו הנה שמענו בתורה כי המשיח יכון לעולם ואיך אמרת כי בן האדם צריך להנשא ומי בן האדם הלזה׃ (aiōn ) |
The multitude therefore answered him, We have heard out of the Law that the Christ abideth for ever; how then dost thou say that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? (aiōn )
| ואני ידעתי כי מצותו חיי עולם לכן כל אשר אדבר כאשר אמר אלי אבי כן אני מדבר׃ (aiōnios ) |
and I know that what he hath committed to me is everlasting life. What I speak therefore, I speak as the Father hath directed me. (aiōnios )
| ויאמר אליו פטרוס לעולם לא תרחץ את רגלי ויען ישוע אם לא ארחץ אתך אין לך חלק עמי׃ (aiōn ) |
Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. (aiōn )
| ואני אשאלה מאבי והוא יתן לכם פרקליט אחר אשר ישכן אתכם לנצח׃ (aiōn ) |
and I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever; (aiōn )
| כאשר נתת לו השלטן על כל בשר למען יתן חיי עולמים לכל אשר נתת לו׃ (aiōnios ) |
according as thou gavest him authority over all flesh, that he should give everlasting life to all whom thou hast given him. (aiōnios )
| ואלה הם חיי העולמים לדעת אתך אשר אתה לבדך אל אמת ואת ישוע המשיח אשר שלחת׃ (aiōnios ) |
And this is the everlasting life, to know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou didst send. (aiōnios )
| כי לא תעזב נפשי לשאול לא תתן חסידך לראות שחת׃ (Hadēs ) |
because thou wilt not abandon my soul to the underworld, nor wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption. (Hadēs )
| לכן בחזותו מראש דבר על תקומת המשיח כי לא נעזבה נפשו לשאול וגם בשרו לא ראה שחת׃ (Hadēs ) |
he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that neither was he abandoned to the underworld, nor did his flesh see corruption. (Hadēs )
| אשר צריך כי יקבלהו השמים עד ימי שוב כל הדברים לתקונם אשר דבר עליהם האלהים בפי נביאיו הקדושים מימי עולם׃ (aiōn ) |
whom heaven indeed must receive until the times of a restoration of all things; of which times God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from the days of old. (aiōn )
| אז הגידו פולוס ובר נבא על פניהם לאמר בדין היה להשמיע אתכם בראשונה את דבר האלהים ועתה אחרי אשר מאסתם אותו ואינכם זכים בעיניכם לחיי העולם לכן הננו פנים אל הגוים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Then Paul and Barnabas said boldly and plainly, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you; but seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of the everlasting life, lo! we turn to the gentiles. (aiōnios )
| וישמחו הגוים כשמעם ויהללו את דבר יהוה ויאמינו כל אשר היו מוכנים לחיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And when the gentiles heard this, they rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained to everlasting life, believed. (aiōnios )
| נודעים לאלהים מעולם כל מעשיו׃ (aiōn ) |
which were known from the beginning.” (aiōn )
| כי מהותו הנעלמה היא כחו הנצחי ואלהותו מעת נברא העולם תודע במעשים ותראה לבלתי היות להם להתנצל׃ (aïdios ) |
For, ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes, even his eternal power and divinity, being perceived from his works, are clearly seen, so that they might be without excuse. (aïdios )
| אשר המירו אמת האלהים בכזב ויכבדו ויעבדו את הבריה תחת בראה המברך לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
because they changed the true God for false gods, and adored and worshipped created things rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| למתמידים בעשות הטוב ומבקשים את הכבוד וההדר ואת אשר איננו עבד יתן את חיי העולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
everlasting life to those who by patient continuance in well-doing seek for glory, and honor, and incorruption; (aiōnios )
| למען כאשר מלך החטא במות ככה ימלך גם החסד על ידי הצדקה לחיי עולם בישוע המשיח אדנינו׃ (aiōnios ) |
that as sin reigned in death, so grace might reign through righteousness to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. (aiōnios )
| אכן עתה בהיותכם משחררים מידי החטא ומשעבדים לאלהים יש לכם פריכם לקדשה ואחריתו חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
But now having been delivered from the slavery of sin, and having become the bondservants of God, ye have holiness as the fruit, and everlasting life as the end. (aiōnios )
| כי שכר החטא הוא המות ומתנת חסד אלהים היא חיי העולם במשיח ישוע אדנינו׃ (aiōnios ) |
For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is everlasting life, through Christ Jesus our Lord. (aiōnios )
| ולהם האבות ואשר מהם יצא המשיח לפי בשרו אשר הוא אל על הכל מברך לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
whose are the fathers, and from whom, as to the flesh, was the Christ. He who is over all, God, be blessed for ever! Amen. (aiōn )
| או מי ירד לתהום זאת היא להעלות את המשיח מן המתים׃ (Abyssos ) |
Or, “Who shall descend into the abyss?” that is, to bring up Christ from the dead. (Abyssos )
| כי האלהים הסגיר את כלם ביד המרי למען יחן את כלם׃ (eleēsē ) |
For God delivered up all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all. (eleēsē )
| הלא הכל ממנו והכל בו והכל אליו אשר לו הכבוד לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
For from him, and through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen. (aiōn )
| ואל תשתוו לעולם הזה כי אם התחלפו בהתחדש דעתכם למען תבחנו לדעת מה הוא רצון האלהים הטוב והחמד והשלם׃ (aiōn ) |
and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and well-pleasing, and perfect. (aiōn )
| ולאשר יכל לחזק אתכם כבשורתי וכקריאת ישוע המשיח כפי גלוי הסוד אשר היה מכסה מימות עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
Now to him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which for eternal ages was unrevealed, (aiōnios )
| ועתה נתפרסם ונודע על ידי כתבי הנביאים כמצות אלהי עולם לכל הגוים להביאם למשמעת האמונה׃ (aiōnios ) |
but is now made manifest, and through the writings of the prophets, by the command of the everlasting God, is made known to all the nations to bring them to obedience to the faith, — (aiōnios )
| לאלהים החכם לבדו לו הכבוד בישוע המשיח לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
to God, the only wise, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for ever! Amen. (aiōn )
| איה חכם איה ספר איה דרש העולם הזה הלא סכל האלהים את חכמת העולם הזה׃ (aiōn ) |
Where is the wise man? Where the scribe? Where the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (aiōn )
| אכן חכמה נדבר בין השלמים לא חכמת העולם הזה גם לא של שרי העולם הזה אשר יאבדו׃ (aiōn ) |
But we do speak wisdom among the perfect; not, however, the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nought; (aiōn )
| כי אם בסוד נדבר חכמת האלהים הנסתרה אשר האלהים יעדה לכבודנו לפני ימי העולם׃ (aiōn ) |
but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God determined on before the world was, for our glory; (aiōn )
| אשר לא ידעה איש משרי העולם הזה כי לו ידעוה לא צלבו את אדון הכבוד׃ (aiōn ) |
which none of the rulers of this world comprehended; for had they comprehended it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; (aiōn )
| אל ירמה איש את עצמו והחשב את עצמו חכם בעולם הזה יהי לסכל למען יחכם׃ (aiōn ) |
Let no one deceive himself; if any one thinketh himself wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise. (aiōn )
| על כן אם מאכלי מכשיל את אחי לא אכל בשר לעולם למען לא אכשיל את אחי׃ (aiōn ) |
Wherefore, if food cause my brother to fall, I will eat no flesh for ever, lest I cause my brother to fall. Am I not free? (aiōn )
| כל זאת מצאתם להיות למופת ותכתב למוסר לנו אשר הגיעו אלינו קצי העולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
Now these things happened to them as warnings, and were recorded for our admonition, to whom the ends of the ages have come. (aiōn )
| איה עקצף המות איה שאול בצחונך׃ (Hadēs ) |
“Where, O death, is thy sting? Where, O death, is thy victory?” (Hadēs )
| אשר אלהי העולם הזה עור בהם את דעות הסוררים לבלתי זרח להם נגה בשורת כבוד המשיח אשר הוא צלם האלהים׃ (aiōn ) |
in whom the God of this world blinded the understandings of the unbelieving, so that they cannot behold the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (aiōn )
| כי לחצנו אשר הוא קל ואך לרגע יביא לנו כבוד עולמים גדול ורב עד למאד׃ (aiōnios ) |
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us, in a higher and still higher degree, an everlasting weight of glory; (aiōnios )
| אשר לא נביט אל הדברים הנראים כי אם אל אשר אינם נראים כי הנראים לשעה המה ואשר אינם נראים הם לעולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are but for a time; but the things which are not seen are ever lasting. (aiōnios )
| הן ידענו כי בהרס בית אהלנו אשר בארץ יש לנו בנין מאת האלהים בית אשר איננו מעשה ידים והוא לעולם בשמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
For we know that, if our earthly tent-habitation be destroyed, we have a building provided by God, a house not made with hands, everlasting, in the heavens. (aiōnios )
| ככתוב פזר נתן לאביונים צדקתו עמדת לעד׃ (aiōn ) |
as it is written: “He dispersed abroad, he gave to the poor; his righteousness remaineth for ever.” (aiōn )
| האלהים אבי ישוע המשיח אדנינו המברך לעולמי עולמים הוא ידע כי לא אשקר׃ (aiōn ) |
The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I am not lying. (aiōn )
| אשר נתן את נפשו בעד חטאתינו לחלצנו מן העולם הרע הזה כרצון אלהינו אבינו׃ (aiōn ) |
who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil world, according to the will of God our Father; (aiōn )
| אשר לו הכבוד לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
to whom be the glory for ever and ever! Amen. (aiōn )
| הזרע בבשרו יקצר כליון משברו והזרע ברוח יקצר מן הרוח חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
for he that soweth to his flesh, shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (aiōnios )
| ממעל לכל שררה ושלטן וגבורה וממשלה וכל הנקרא בשם לא לבד בעולם הזה כי אם גם בעולם הבא׃ (aiōn ) |
far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come; (aiōn )
| אשר התהלכתם בהם לפי דור העולם הזה כרצון שר ממשלת האויר והוא הרוח הפעל כעת בבני המרי׃ (aiōn ) |
in which ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience; (aiōn )
| להראות בדרות הבאים את גדלת עשר חסדו בטובתו עלינו במשיח ישוע׃ (aiōn ) |
that he might show in the ages to come the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (aiōn )
| ולהאיר עיני כל מה היא הנהגת הסוד הנסתר מדרת עולם באלהים יוצר הכל על ידי ישוע המשיח׃ (aiōn ) |
to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery, which hath been hidden for ages in God, who created all things; (aiōn )
| על פי עצת עולמים אשר יעץ במשיח ישוע אדנינו׃ (aiōn ) |
according to his purpose for ages, which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord; (aiōn )
| לו הכבוד בקרב הקהל במשיח ישוע לדר ודר עד עולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
to him be the glory in the church in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| כי לא עם בשר ודם מלחמתנו כי עם שרים ושליטים עם המשלים בחשכת העולם הזה עם הרוחות הרעות אשר במרומים׃ (aiōn ) |
for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of evil in the heavenly regions. (aiōn )
| ולאלהים אבינו הכבוד לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Now to God, our Father, be glory for ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| את הסוד אשר היה נסתר מעולמים ומדור ודור ועתה נגלה לקדושיו׃ (aiōn ) |
the mystery which hath been hidden for ages and generations, but hath been now revealed to his saints; (aiōn )
| אשר ישאו משפט אבדן עולם מאת פני האדון ומהדר גאונו׃ (aiōnios ) |
who will be punished with everlasting destruction proceeding from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power, (aiōnios )
| והוא אדנינו ישוע המשיח ואלהינו אבינו אשר אהב אתנו ויתן לנו בחסדו נחמת עולם ותקוה טובה׃ (aiōnios ) |
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, our Father, who loved us, and gave us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, (aiōnios )
| ובעבור זאת רחמתי למען אשר יראה ישוע המשיח בי בראשונה את כל ארך רוחו להיותי למופת לכל אשר יבאו להאמין בו לחיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
But for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me especially Christ Jesus might show forth all his long-suffering, as an example to those who should hereafter believe in him to life everlasting. (aiōnios )
| ולמלך עולמים לאלהים הקים לעד והנעלם מעין והחכם לבדו לו הכבוד וההדר לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Now to the King eternal, the imperishable, invisible, only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| הלחם המלחמה הטובה של האמונה ואחז חיי עולמים אשר נקראת להם והודית הודאה יפה בפני עדים רבים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on everlasting life, to which thou wast called, and didst profess the good profession before many witnesses. (aiōnios )
| אשר הוא לבדו חי וקים והוא הדר באור נשגב ואיש לא ראהו ולא יוכל לראונו ולו הכבוד וגבורת עולמים אמן׃ (aiōnios ) |
who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable, whom no man hath seen, or can see; to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen. (aiōnios )

Charge those who are rich in this world that they be not high-minded, nor place their hope in uncertain riches, but in God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good, (aiōn )

For this cause I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with everlasting glory. (aiōnios )

For Demas forsook me, because he loved the present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. (aiōn )

The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom; to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )

in hope of everlasting life, which God, who cannot lie, promised from the most ancient times, (aiōnios )

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in the present world; (aiōn )

that having been accepted as righteous by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| כי אולי נפרד ממך לשעה בעבור אשר יהיה לך לעולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
For perhaps he was separated from thee for a season to this end, that thou shouldst receive him back as thine for ever; (aiōnios )

hath at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, by whom he also made the worlds, (aiōn )

and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, (aiōn )

where as forerunner for us Jesus entered, having become a high-priest for ever, after the order of Melchizedek. (aiōn )

For it is testified of him, “Thou art a priest for ever, after the order of Melchizedek.” (aiōn )

—for they indeed have been made priests without an oath; but he with an oath by him who said to him, “The Lord swore, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever,”— (aiōn )
| אבל זה בעמדו לעולם יש לו כהנה אשר לא תעבר ממנו׃ (aiōn ) |
but he, because he abideth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood; (aiōn )
| כי התורה העמידה לכהנים גדולים בני אדם חלשים אבל דבר השבועה הבאה אחרי התורה העמיד את הבן המשלם לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
For the Law maketh men high-priests, who have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was after the Law, maketh the Son, who is perfected for ever. (aiōn )
| גם לא בא בדם שעירים ועגלים אלא בדם נפשו בא בפעם אחת אל הקדש פנימה וימצא גאלת עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
not with the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, and obtained for us everlasting redemption. (aiōnios )
| אף כי דם המשיח אשר הקריב את עצמו לאלהים ברוח נצחי ובלי מום יטהר לבבכם ממעשי מות לעבד את אלהים חיים׃ (aiōnios ) |
how much more shall the blood of Christ, who by his everlasting spirit offered himself without spot to God, purify your conscience from dead works, for the worship of the living God! (aiōnios )
| ובעבור זאת הוא גם סרסר לברית חדשה למען אשר יירשו המקראים את הבטחת נחלת עולם אחרי אשר מת לפדות מן הפשעים אשר נעשו תחת הברית הראשונה׃ (aiōnios ) |
And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that, death having taken place for redemption from the transgressions under the first covenant, they who have been called may receive the everlasting inheritance which was promised. (aiōnios )
| כי אם כן הוא הלא היה לו לענות פעמים רבות מראשית העולם ועתה בקץ העתים נגלה בפעם אחת כדי לבטל את החטא בזבח נפשו׃ (aiōn ) |
for then must he have suffered many times since the foundation of the world; but now once in the end of the world he hath appeared, to put away sin by means of his sacrifice. (aiōn )

Through faith we perceive that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that that which is seen hath not been made out of things which appear. (aiōn )

Jesus Christ is yesterday and to-day the same, and for ever. (aiōn )

Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of an everlasting covenant, even our Lord Jesus, (aiōnios )

make you perfect in every good work, to do his will, doing in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory for ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| כן הלשון נצבת בין אברינו המגאלת את כל הגוף ומלהטת את גלגל הויתנו והיא להוטה באש גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity! The tongue among our members is that which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of life, and is itself set on fire by hell. (Geenna )
| כנולדים מחדש לא מזרע נשחת כי אם מזרע לא ישחת במאמר אלהים החי והקים לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
being born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the word of God, which liveth and abideth. (aiōn )
| ודבר יהוה יקום לעולם וזה הוא הדבר אשר בשר לכם׃ (aiōn ) |
but the word of the Lord abideth for ever;” and this is the word which was preached to you. (aiōn )
| איש כי ידבר יהי כאמרי אל ואיש כי יעזר תהי עזרתו מתוך החיל אשר חננו אלהים למען יכבד אלהים בכל על ידי ישוע המשיח אשר לו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
If any one speak, let him speak as uttering the oracles of God; if any minister, let him do it as from the ability which God giveth; that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| ואלהי כל החסד אשר קראנו לכבודו הנצחי במשיח ישוע אחרי ענותכם מעט הוא ישלים ויחזק ויגבר וייסד אתכם׃ (aiōnios ) |
But the God of all grace, who called you to his everlasting glory in Christ Jesus, will, after ye have suffered a while, himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. (aiōnios )

To him be the dominion for ever. Amen. (aiōn )

For in this way the entrance will be richly furnished you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )

For if God spared not angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them over to chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; (Tartaroō )
| ורבו בחסד ובדעת אדנינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח אשר לו הכבוד גם היום וגם ליום העולם אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and for ever. (aiōn )
| והחיים נגלו ונרא ומעידים אנחנו ומודיעים לכם את חיי העולם אשר היו עם האב ונגלו לנו׃ (aiōnios ) |
—and the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and announce to you the everlasting life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us, — (aiōnios )
| והחלד עבור יעבר עם תאותיו והעשה רצון אלהים יעמד לעד׃ (aiōn ) |
And the world is passing away, and the lust thereof; but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (aiōn )
| וההבטחה אשר הבטיחנו היא חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
And this is the promise which he himself promised us, even the life everlasting. (aiōnios )
| כל השנא את אחיו רצח נפש הוא וידעתם כי כל רצח נפש לא יתקימו בו חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Whoever hateth his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer hath everlasting life abiding in him. (aiōnios )

And this is the witness, that God gave to us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios )
| זאת כתבתי אליכם המאמינים בשם בן האלהים למען תדעון שיש לכם חיי עולם ולמען תאמינו בשם בן האלהים׃ (aiōnios ) |
These things have I written to you, that ye may know that ye who believe in the name of the Son of God have everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| וידענו כי בא בן אלהים ויתן לנו בינה לדעת את האמתי ובאמתי אנחנו בבנו ישוע המשיח זה הוא האל האמתי וחיי העולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given us understanding, that we may know the True One; and we are in the True One, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and everlasting life. (aiōnios )
| למען האמת העמדת בקרבנו וגם תהיה עמנו לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
for the sake of the truth which abideth in us, and will be with us for ever. (aiōn )
| והמלאכים אשר לא שמרו את משרתם כי אם עזבו את זבלם שמרם במוסרות עולם ובאפלה למשפט היום הגדול׃ (aïdios ) |
and the angels which kept not their principality, but left their own dwelling-place, he hath kept in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day; (aïdios )
| כאשר סדום ועמרה והערים סביבותיהן אשר הזנו כמוהם וילכו אחרי בשר זר נהיו כראי כי נמסרו למוסר אש עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them, in like manner with them giving themselves over to fornication, and going away after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of everlasting fire. (aiōnios )
| משברי ים עזים אשר יגרשו בשתם ככבים תעים אשר חשך אפלה צפון להם עדי עד׃ (aiōn ) |
raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. (aiōn )
| ושמרתם את נפשתיכם באהבת אלהים וחכיתם לרחמי אדנינו ישוע המשיח לחיי העולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (aiōnios )
| לאלהים אשר לו לבדו החכמה המושיע אתנו לו הכבוד והגדלה והעז והממשלה מעתה ולעולמי עד אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
to the only God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, is glory, majesty, dominion and power, before all time, and now, and for ever. Amen. (aiōn )
| ויעש אתנו למלכים וכהנים לאלהים אביו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
and made us a kingdom, priests to God his Father, to him be the glory and the dominion for ever. Amen. (aiōn )

and he that liveth; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore; and I have the keys of death and the underworld. (aiōn , Hadēs )

And when the living creatures give glory, and honor, and thanksgiving to him that sitteth on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, (aiōn )
| אז יפלו עשרים וארבעה הזקנים על פניהם לפני הישב על הכסא והשתחוו לחי עולמי העולמים ושמו את עטרותיהם לפני הכסא לאמר׃ (aiōn ) |
the twenty-four elders fall down before him that sitteth on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, (aiōn )

And I saw, and lo! a pale horse, and the name of him that sat on him was Death; and the underworld was following with him; and there was given to them power over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth. (Hadēs )

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fallen out of heaven to the earth, and to him was given the key of the pit of the abyss; (Abyssos )
| ויפתח את באר התהום ויעל עשן מן הבאר כעשן כבשן גדול ויחשך השמש והרקיע מקיטר הבאר׃ (Abyssos ) |
and he opened the pit of the abyss. And there went up a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. (Abyssos )
| ומלאך התהום הוא מלך עליהם ושמו אבדון בעברית והוא אפוליון בלשון יון׃ (Abyssos ) |
They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek he hath for his name Apollyon. (Abyssos )
| וישבע בחי עולמי העולמים אשר ברא את השמים וכל אשר בהם והארץ וכל אשר בה והים וכל אשר בו כי לא יהיה עוד זמן׃ (aiōn ) |
and swore by him who liveth for ever and ever, who created the heaven, and the things therein, and the earth and the things therein, and the sea, and the things therein, that there should be no longer delay; (aiōn )
| ואחרי השלימם עדותם החיה העלה מן התהום תעשה עמהם מלחמה ותוכל להם והרגתם׃ (Abyssos ) |
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that cometh up out of the abyss will make war against them, and will overcome them, and kill them. (Abyssos )
| והמלאך השביעי תקע בשופר ויהי קלות גדולים בשמים ויאמרו הנה ממלכת העולם היתה לאדיניו ולמשיחו והוא ימלך לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And the seventh angel sounded, and there followed loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world is become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| וארא מלאך אחר מעופף במרום הרקיע אשר היה לו בשורת עולם לבשר את ישבי הארץ ואת כל גוי ונשפחה ולשון ועם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And I saw another angel flying in mid-heaven, having an everlasting message of good tidings to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and tribe, and tongue, and people; (aiōnios )
| ועשן ענוים יעלה לעולמי עד ולא ימצאו מנוחה יומם ולילה המשתחוים לחיה ולצלמה ואשר ישא את תו שמה׃ (aiōn ) |
And the smoke of their torment goeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worshiped the beast and his image, and whoever receiveth the mark of his name. (aiōn )

And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden vials, full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. (aiōn )

The beast which thou sawest, was, and is not, and is to come up out of the abyss, and goeth into perdition; and they that dwell on the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder, when they see the beast, that he was, and is not, and yet will come. | וישנו ויאמרו הללויה ועשנה יעלה לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And a second time they said, Hallelujah! and her smoke goeth up for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| ותתפש החיה ונביא השקר אתה אשר עשה האותות לפניה אשר הדיח בהן את נשאי תו החיה והמשתחוים לצלמה וחיים השלכו שניהם באגם האש הבער בגפרית׃ (Limnē Pyr ) |
And the beast was seized and he who was with him, the false prophet who wrought the signs in his presence, with which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast, and who worshipped his image; the two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. (Limnē Pyr )
| וארא מלאך יורד מן השמים ובידו מפתח התהום וכבל גדול׃ (Abyssos ) |
And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand. (Abyssos )
| וישליכהו בתהום ויסגר בעדו ויחתם עליו למען לא ידיח עוד את הגוים עד כלות אלף השנים ואחרי כן יתר לזמן מצער׃ (Abyssos ) |
and cast him into the abyss, and shut him up and set a seal over him, that he may deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years are ended: after that he must be loosed for a short time. (Abyssos )
| והשטן אשר הדיחם השלך באגם אש וגפרית אשר שם גם החיה ונביא השקר ויסרו יומם ולילה לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn , Limnē Pyr ) |
And the Devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (aiōn , Limnē Pyr )
| ויתן הים את מתיו והמות והשאול נתנו את מתיהם וישפטו איש איש כמעשיהם׃ (Hadēs ) |
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and the underworld gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged each one according to his works. (Hadēs )

And if any one was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire. (Limnē Pyr )
| אבל רכי הלב ואשר אינם מאמינים והמגאלים והמרצחים והזנים והמכשפים ועבדי האלילים וכל המכזבים חלקם יהיה באגם הבער באש וגפרית אשר הוא המות השני׃ (Limnē Pyr ) |
But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and the polluted with abominations, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death. (Limnē Pyr )
| ולילה לא יהיה עוד ולא יצטרכו עוד לאור נר ולאור שמש כי יהוה אלהים הוא יאיר להם וימלכו עד עולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And there will be no night, and no need of lamp or light, for the Lord God will shine upon them; and they will reign for ever and ever. (aiōn )
