Πραξεις 2
1 Και ότε ήλθεν η ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, ήσαν άπαντες ομοθυμαδόν εν τω αυτώ τόπω.
SO when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with unanimity assembled together.
2 Και εξαίφνης έγεινεν ήχος εκ του ουρανού ως ανέμου βιαίως φερομένου, και εγέμισεν όλον τον οίκον όπου ήσαν καθήμενοι·
And there came suddenly from heaven a sound as it were of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 και εφάνησαν εις αυτούς διαμεριζόμεναι γλώσσαι ως πυρός, και εκάθησεν επί ένα έκαστον αυτών,
And there was an appearance to them of divided tongues, as of fire, and it rested on every one of them.
4 και επλήσθησαν άπαντες Πνεύματος Αγίου, και ήρχισαν να λαλώσι ξένας γλώσσας, καθώς το Πνεύμα έδιδεν εις αυτούς να λαλώσιν.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves.
5 Ήσαν δε κατοικούντες εν Ιερουσαλήμ Ιουδαίοι, άνδρες ευλαβείς από παντός έθνους των υπό τον ουρανόν·
Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, men of piety, from every nation under heaven.
6 και καθώς έγεινεν η φωνή αύτη, συνήλθε το πλήθος και συνεταράχθη, διότι ήκουον αυτούς εις έκαστος λαλούντας με την ιδίαν αυτού διάλεκτον.
And when this report spread, the multitude collected around them, and were overwhelmed with astonishment, because they heard them speaking every one in his own peculiar dialect.
7 Εξεπλήττοντο δε πάντες και εθαύμαζον, λέγοντες προς αλλήλους· Ιδού, πάντες ούτοι οι λαλούντες δεν είναι Γαλιλαίοι;
And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying one to another, Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
8 Και πως ημείς ακούομεν έκαστος εν τη ιδία ημών διαλέκτω, εν ή εγεννήθημεν;
And how do we hear every man in our own peculiar dialect, in which from our birth we were brought up?
9 Πάρθοι και Μήδοι και Ελαμίται και οι κατοικούντες την Μεσοποταμίαν, την Ιουδαίαν τε και Καππαδοκίαν, τον Πόντον και την Ασίαν,
Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and they who inhabit Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia,
10 την Φρυγίαν τε και την Παμφυλίαν, την Αίγυπτον και τα μέρη της Λιβύης της κατά την Κυρήνην και οι παρεπιδημούντες Ρωμαίοι, Ιουδαίοί τε και προσήλυτοι,
and Phrygia, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Lybia adjoining Cyrene, and the sojourners, who are Romans, both Jews and proselytes,
11 Κρήτες και Άραβες, ακούομεν αυτούς λαλούντας εν ταις γλώσσαις ημών τα μεγαλεία του Θεού.
Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own several tongues the marvellous things of God.
12 Εθαύμαζον δε πάντες και ηπόρουν, άλλος προς άλλον λέγοντες· Τι σημαίνει τούτο;
And they were all amazed, and much perplexed, and knew not what to think, saying one to another, What can this mean?
13 Άλλοι δε χλευάζοντες έλεγον ότι είναι μεστοί από γλυκύν οίνον.
But others scoffing said, These men are brimful of sweet wine.
14 Σταθείς δε ο Πέτρος μετά των ένδεκα, ύψωσε την φωνήν αυτού και ελάλησε προς αυτούς· Άνδρες Ιουδαίοι και πάντες οι κατοικούντες την Ιερουσαλήμ, τούτο ας ήναι γνωστόν εις εσάς και ακούσατε τους λόγους μου.
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice, and addressed them; Men of Judea, and all ye who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words:
15 Διότι ούτοι δεν είναι μεθυσμένοι, καθώς σεις νομίζετε· διότι είναι τρίτη ώρα της ημέρας·
for these men are not, as ye suppose, drunk, for it is only the third hour of the day.
16 αλλά τούτο είναι το ρηθέν διά του προφήτου Ιωήλ·
But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 Και εν ταις εσχάταις ημέραις, λέγει ο Θεός, Θέλω εκχέει από του Πνεύματός μου επί πάσαν σάρκα, και θέλουσι προφητεύσει οι υιοί σας και αι θυγατέρες σας, και οι νεανίσκοι σας θέλουσιν ιδεί οράσεις, και οι πρεσβύτεροί σας θέλουσιν ενυπνιασθή ενύπνια·
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour our of my spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 και έτι επί τους δούλους μου και επί τας δούλας μου εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις θέλω εκχέει από του Πνεύματός μου, και θέλουσι προφητεύσει·
and upon my servants and my handmaidens in those days will I pour out of my spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 και θέλω δείξει τέρατα εν τω ουρανώ άνω και σημεία επί της γης κάτω, αίμα και πυρ και ατμίδα καπνού·
and I will perform prodigies in the heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke.
20 ο ήλιος θέλει μεταστραφή εις σκότος και η σελήνη εις αίμα, πριν έλθη η ημέρα του Κυρίου η μεγάλη και επιφανής.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and illustrious day of the Lord come.
21 Και πας όστις αν επικαλεσθή το όνομα του Κυρίου, θέλει σωθή.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Lord shall be saved.”
22 Άνδρες Ισραηλίται, ακούσατε τους λόγους τούτους· τον Ιησούν τον Ναζωραίον, άνδρα αποδεδειγμένον προς εσάς από του Θεού διά θαυμάτων και τεραστίων και σημείων, τα οποία ο Θεός έκαμε δι' αυτού εν μέσω υμών, καθώς και σεις εξεύρετε,
Men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus the Nazarean, a man from God, pointed out to you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as yourselves also know:
23 τούτον λαβόντες παραδεδομένον κατά την ωρισμένην βουλήν και πρόγνωσιν του Θεού, διά χειρών ανόμων σταυρώσαντες εθανατώσατε·
him, by the destined counsel and foreknowledge of God delivered up, ye have seized, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 τον οποίον ο Θεός ανέστησε, λύσας τας ωδίνας του θανάτου, διότι δεν ήτο δυνατόν να κρατήται υπ' αυτού.
whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: forasmuch as it was not possible that he should be held thereby.
25 Επειδή ο Δαβίδ λέγει περί αυτού· Έβλεπον τον Κύριον ενώπιόν μου διαπαντός, διότι είναι εκ δεξιών μου διά να μη σαλευθώ.
For David speaketh concerning him, “I have seen the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand, that I might not be shaken:
26 Διά τούτο ευφράνθη η καρδία μου και ηγαλλίασεν η γλώσσα μου· έτι δε και η σαρξ μου θέλει αναπαυθή επ' ελπίδι.
therefore is my heart full of joy, and my tongue hath exulted; and still shall my flesh also repose in hope,
27 Διότι δεν θέλεις εγκαταλείψει την ψυχήν μου εν τω άδη ουδέ θέλεις αφήσει τον όσιόν σου να ίδη διαφθοράν. (Hadēs g86)
that thou wilt not leave my soul in the mansion of the dead, nor permit that Holy One of thine to see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
28 Εφανέρωσας εις εμέ οδούς ζωής, θέλεις με χορτάσει από ευφροσύνης διά του προσώπου σου.
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt fill me with delight by thy countenance.”
29 Άνδρες αδελφοί, δύναμαι να σας είπω μετά παρρησίας περί του πατριάρχου Δαβίδ ότι και ετελεύτησε και ετάφη, και το μνήμα αυτού είναι παρ' ημίν μέχρι της ημέρας ταύτης.
Men and brethren, permit me to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he hath been both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us to this day.
30 Επειδή λοιπόν ήτο προφήτης και ήξευρεν ότι μεθ' όρκου ώμοσε προς αυτόν ο Θεός, ότι εκ του καρπού της οσφύος αυτού θέλει αναστήσει κατά σάρκα τον Χριστόν διά να καθίση αυτόν επί του θρόνου αυτού,
Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Messiah to sit upon his throne;
31 προϊδών ελάλησε περί της αναστάσεως του Χριστού ότι δεν εγκατελείφθη η ψυχή αυτού εν τω άδη ουδέ η σαρξ αυτού είδε διαφθοράν. (Hadēs g86)
he, foreseeing this, spake of the resurrection of the Messiah, that his soul should not be left in the mansion of the dead, and that his flesh should not see corruption. (Hadēs g86)
32 Τούτον τον Ιησούν ανέστησεν ο Θεός, του οποίου πάντες ημείς είμεθα μάρτυρες.
This very Jesus hath God raised up, of which we all are witnesses.
33 Αφού λοιπόν υψώθη διά της δεξιάς του Θεού και έλαβε παρά του Πατρός την επαγγελίαν του Αγίου Πνεύματος, εξέχεε τούτο, το οποίον τώρα σεις βλέπετε και ακούετε.
He therefore being exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, hath poured out this, which ye now see and hear.
34 Διότι ο Δαβίδ δεν ανέβη εις τους ουρανούς, λέγει όμως αυτός, Είπεν ο Κύριος προς τον Κύριόν μου, κάθου εκ δεξιών μου,
For David is not ascended into the heavens: for he saith himself, “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit on my right hand,
35 εωσού θέσω τους εχθρούς σου υποπόδιον των ποδών σου.
until I make thine enemies a footstool for thy feet.”
36 Βεβαίως λοιπόν ας εξεύρη πας ο οίκος του Ισραήλ ότι ο Θεός Κύριον και Χριστόν έκαμεν αυτόν τούτον τον Ιησούν, τον οποίον σεις εσταυρώσατε.
Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him Lord and Messiah, even that very Jesus whom ye crucified.
37 Αφού δε ήκουσαν ταύτα, ήλθεν εις κατάνυξιν η καρδία αυτών, και είπον προς τον Πέτρον και τους λοιπούς αποστόλους· Τι πρέπει να κάμωμεν, άνδρες αδελφοί;
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Και ο Πέτρος είπε προς αυτούς· Μετανοήσατε, και ας βαπτισθή έκαστος υμών εις το όνομα του Ιησού Χριστού εις άφεσιν αμαρτιών, και θέλετε λάβει την δωρεάν του Αγίου Πνεύματος.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptised every one of you into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 Διότι προς εσάς είναι η επαγγελία και προς τα τέκνα σας και προς πάντας τους εις μακράν, όσους αν προσκαλέση Κύριος ο Θεός ημών.
For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off; even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 Και με άλλους πολλούς λόγους διεμαρτύρετο και προέτρεπε, λέγων, Σώθητε από της διεστραμμένης ταύτης γενεάς.
And with many other words he testified and exhorted, saying, Be saved from this untoward generation.
41 Εκείνοι λοιπόν μετά χαράς δεχθέντες τον λόγον αυτού εβαπτίσθησαν, και προσετέθησαν εν εκείνη τη ημέρα έως τρεις χιλιάδες ψυχαί.
They therefore who gladly received his discourse were baptised: and there were added to them that day about three thousand souls.
42 Και ενέμενον εν τη διδαχή των αποστόλων και εν τη κοινωνία και εν τη κλάσει του άρτου και εν ταις προσευχαίς.
And they persevered stedfastly in the doctrine of the apostles, and in communion, and in breaking bread, and in prayers.
43 Κατέλαβε δε πάσαν ψυχήν φόβος, και πολλά τεράστια και σημεία εγίνοντο διά των αποστόλων.
And on every soul there was an awe: and many miracles and signs were done by the apostles.
44 Και πάντες οι πιστεύοντες ήσαν ομού και είχον τα πάντα κοινά,
Now all who believed were together, and had all things common;
45 και τα κτήματα και τα υπάρχοντα αυτών επώλουν και διεμοίραζον αυτά εις πάντας, καθ' ην έκαστος είχε χρείαν.
and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as every one had need.
46 Και καθ' ημέραν εμμένοντες ομοθυμαδόν εν τω ιερώ και κόπτοντες τον άρτον κατ' οίκους, μετελάμβανον την τροφήν εν αγαλλιάσει και απλότητι καρδίας,
And daily continuing with one mind at the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of their food with great joy and simplicity of heart,
47 δοξολογούντες τον Θεόν και ευρίσκοντες χάριν ενώπιον όλου του λαού. Ο δε Κύριος προσέθετε καθ' ημέραν εις την εκκλησίαν τους σωζομένους.
praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added the saved ones daily to the church.
