4 Mose 22
1 Und die Söhne Israels brachen auf und lagerten in dem Flachlande Moabs am Übergang über den Jordan bei Jericho.
After, the children of Israel departed and pitched in the plaine of Moab on the other side of Iorden from Iericho.
2 Und Balak, Zippors Sohn, sah alles, was Israel dem Amoriter getan;
Now Balak the sonne of Zippor sawe all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
3 Und Moab war sehr bange vor dem Volke, weil ihrer viel war; und Moab hatte Überdruß an den Söhnen Israels.
And the Moabites were sore afraide of the people, because they were many, and Moab fretted against the children of Israel.
4 Und Moab sprach zu den Ältesten Midjans: Diese Versammlung wird alles um uns her auflecken, wie der Ochse das Grüne auf dem Felde aufleckt. Und zur selben Zeit war Balak, Zippors Sohn, König über Moab.
Therfore Moab said vnto the Elders of Midian, Nowe shall this multitude licke vp all that are round about vs, as an oxe licketh vp ye grasse of the fielde: and Balak the sonne of Zippor was King of the Moabites at that time.
5 Und er sandte Boten zu Bileam, Beors Sohn, nach Pethor am Flusse, in das Land der Söhne seines Volkes, ihn zu rufen; und er sprach: Siehe, ein Volk ist aus Ägypten ausgegangen, siehe, es bedeckt die Fläche der Erde, und wohnt mir gegenüber.
Hee sent messengers therefore vnto Balaam the sonne of Beor to Pethor (which is by the riuer of the lande of the children of his folke) to call him, saying, Beholde, there is a people come out of Egypt, which couer the face of the earth, and lye ouer against me.
6 Und nun komm doch, verfluche mir dies Volk, denn es ist mächtiger denn ich. Vielleicht vermag ich es, daß wir es schlagen und ich es von dem Land vertreibe; denn ich weiß, wen du segnest, der ist gesegnet, und wen du verfluchst, der ist verflucht.
Come now therefore, I pray thee, and curse me this people (for they are stronger then I) so it may be that I shall be able to smite them, and to driue them out of the land: for I knowe that hee, whome thou blessest, is blessed, and he whom thou cursest, shall be cursed.
7 Und die Ältesten Moabs und die Ältesten Midjans gingen hin mit Wahrsagegaben in ihren Händen, und kamen hinein zu Bileam und redeten die Worte Balaks zu ihm.
And the Elders of Moab, and the Elders of Midian departed, hauing the reward of the soothsaying in their hande, and they came vnto Balaam, and tolde him the wordes of Balak.
8 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Übernachtet hier diese Nacht, so will ich euch ein Wort erwidern, wie Jehovah zu mir reden wird. Und die Obersten Moabs blieben bei Bileam.
Who answered them, Tary here this night, and I will giue you an answere, as the Lord shall say vnto mee. So the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
9 Und Gott kam zu Bileam und sprach: Wer sind die Männer da bei dir?
Then God came vnto Balaam, and sayde, What men are these with thee?
10 Und Bileam sprach zu Gott: Balak, Zippors Sohn, König von Moab, hat zu mir gesandt:
And Baalam said vnto God, Balak ye sonne of Zippor, king of Moab hath set vnto me, saying,
11 Siehe, das Volk, das aus Ägypten ausgegangen, bedeckt die Fläche der Erde. So komm nun, und verwünsche es mir, auf daß ich vielleicht vermöge, wider dasselbe zu streiten und es zu vertreiben.
Beholde, there is a people come out of Egypt and couereth the face of the earth: come nowe, curse them for my sake: so it may be that I shalbe able to ouercome them in battell, and to driue them out.
12 Und Gott sprach zu Bileam: Gehe nicht mit ihnen, verfluche das Volk nicht, denn es ist gesegnet.
And God said vnto Balaam, Go not thou with them, neither curse the people, for they are blessed.
13 Und Bileam stand am Morgen auf und sprach zu den Obersten Balaks: Gehet nach eurem Land, denn Jehovah weigert Sich zuzugeben, daß ich mit euch gehe.
And Balaam rose vp in the morning, and sayde vnto ye princes of Balak, Returne vnto your land: for the Lord hath refused to giue me leaue to go with you.
14 Und die Obersten Moabs machten sich auf und kamen zu Balak und sprach: Bileam weigert sich, mit uns zu gehen.
So the princes of Moab rose vp, and went vnto Balak, and sayd, Balaam hath refused to come with vs.
15 Und Balak sandte abermals noch mehr und gewichtigere Obersten denn diese waren.
Balak yet sent againe moe princes, and more honourable then they.
16 Und sie kamen zu Bileam und sprachen zu ihm: So sprach Balak, Zippors Sohn: Laß dich nicht abhalten, zu mir zu kommen.
Who came to Balaam, and sayde to him, Thus saith Balak the sonne of Zippor, Bee not thou staied, I pray thee, from comming vnto me.
17 Denn ich will dich sehr verherrlichen und alles tun, was du zu mir sagst; aber gehe doch, verwünsche mir dieses Volk.
For I wil promote thee vnto great honour, and wil do whatsoeuer thou sayest vnto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
18 Und Bileam antwortete und sprach zu Balaks Knechten: Wenn Balak mir auch sein Haus voll Silber und Goldes gäbe, so vermöchte ich den Befehl Jehovahs, meines Gottes, nicht zu überschreiten, Kleines oder Großes zu tun.
And Balaam answered, and sayde vnto the seruants of Balak, If Balak woulde giue me his house full of siluer and golde, I can not goe beyonde the worde of the Lord my God, to doe lesse or more.
19 Und nun bleibet doch auch ihr diese Nacht hier, und ich werde wissen, was Jehovah weiter zu mir redet.
But nowe, I pray you, tary here this night, that I may wit, what the Lord will say vnto mee more.
20 Und Gott kam zu Bileam in der Nacht und sprach zu ihm: Wenn diese Männer gekommen sind, dich zu rufen, so mache dich auf, gehe mit ihnen! Aber nur das Wort, das Ich zu dir reden werde, sollst du tun.
And God came vnto Balaam by night, and sayd vnto him, If the men come to call thee, rise vp, and goe with them: but onely what thing I say vnto thee, that shalt thou doe.
21 Und Bileam machte sich am Morgen auf und sattelte seine Eselin und ging mit den Obersten Moabs.
So Balaam rose vp early, and sadled his asse, and went with the princes of Moab.
22 Und der Zorn Gottes entbrannte, daß er ging; und der Engel Jehovahs stellte sich ihm zum Widersacher in den Weg, und er ritt auf seiner Eselin, und zwei seiner Jungen waren bei ihm.
And ye wrath of God was kindled, because he went: and the Angel of the Lord stood in the way to be against him, as he rode vpon his asse, and his two seruants were with him.
23 Und die Eselin sah den Engel Jehovahs, Der sich in den Weg gestellt, und Sein gezücktes Schwert in Seiner Hand; und die Eselin lenkte ab von dem Wege und ging in das Feld. Und Bileam schlug die Eselin, um sie in den Weg zu lenken.
And when the asse saw the Angel of the Lord stand in the way, and his sworde drawen in his hand, the asse turned out of the way and went into the field, but Balaam smote the asse, to turne her into the way.
24 Und der Engel Jehovahs stand in dem Fußweg im Weinberg, da hier eine Mauerwand und dort eine Mauerwand war.
Againe the Angel of the Lord stood in a path of the vineyardes, hauing a wall on the one side, and a wall on the other.
25 Und die Eselin sah den Engel Jehovahs und drückte sich an die Wandung, und drückte Bileams Fuß gegen die Wandung; und er schlug sie abermals.
And when the asse sawe the Angel of the Lord, she thrust her selfe vnto the wall, and dasht Balaams foote against the wall: wherefore hee smote her againe.
26 Und der Engel Jehovahs zog wiederum hin und stand an einem engen Orte, da kein Weg zum Ablenken zur Rechten oder zur Linken war.
Then the Angel of the Lord went further, and stoode in a narowe place, where was no way to turne, either to the right hand, or to the left.
27 Und die Eselin sah den Engel Jehovahs und legte sich nieder unter Bileam; und es entbrannte der Zorn Bileams und er schlug die Eselin mit dem Stock,
And when the asse sawe the Angell of the Lord, she lay downe vnder Balaam: therefore Balaam was very wroth, and smote the asse with a staffe.
28 Und Jehovah öffnete der Eselin den Mund und sie sprach zu Bileam: Was habe ich dir getan, daß du mich diese dreimal geschlagen hast?
Then the Lord opened the mouth of the asse, and she saide vnto Balaam, What haue I done vnto thee, that thou hast smitten me nowe three times?
29 Und Bileam sprach zu der Eselin: Weil du mir es so getrieben hast. Wäre doch ein Schwert in meiner Hand, ich würde dich jetzt erwürgen.
And Balaam saide vnto the asse, Because thou hast mocked me: I woulde there were a sworde in mine hand, for nowe would I kill thee.
30 Und die Eselin sprach zu Bileam: Bin ich nicht deine Eselin, auf der du geritten bist, seit ich dein bin, bis auf diesen Tag. War ich je gewohnt, dir so zu tun? Und er sprach: Nein.
And the asse saide vnto Balaam, Am not I thine asse, which thou hast ridden vpon since thy first time vnto this day? haue I vsed at any time to doe thus vnto thee? Who said, Nay.
31 Und Jehovah deckte Bileam die Augen auf und er sah den Engel Jehovahs mit Seinem gezückten Schwert in Seiner Hand, Der Sich in den Weg gestellt. Und er neigte sich und verbeugte sich auf sein Antlitz.
And the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he sawe the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with his sword drawen in his hande: then he bowed him selfe, and fell flat on his face.
32 Und der Engel Jehovahs sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du deine Eselin diese dreimal geschlagen? Siehe, Ich bin ausgegangen als dein Widersacher, denn verkehrt ist der Weg vor Mir.
And the Angel of the Lord said vnto him, Wherefore hast thou nowe smitten thine asse three times? beholde, I came out to withstande thee, because thy way is not straight before me.
33 Und die Eselin hat Mich gesehen und hat diese dreimal vor Mir abgelenkt. Hätte sie vor Mir nicht abgelenkt, so hätte Ich dich auch jetzt erwürgt, sie aber leben lassen.
But the asse sawe me, and turned from me now three times: for els, if she had not turned from me, surely I had euen nowe slaine thee, and saued her aliue.
34 Und Bileam sprach zum Engel Jehovahs: Ich habe gesündigt, daß ich nicht wußte, daß Du Dich mir im Wege entgegenstelltest. Und nun, wenn es böse in Deinen Augen ist, will ich für mich zurückkehren.
Then Balaam saide vnto the Angel of the Lord, I haue sinned: for I wist not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore if it displease thee, I will turne home againe.
35 Und der Engel Jehovahs sprach zu Bileam: Gehe mit den Männern, jedoch das Wort, welches Ich zu dir reden werde, das rede. Und Bileam ging mit Balaks Obersten.
But the Angel said vnto Balaam, Go with the men: but what I say vnto thee, that shalt thou speake. So Balaam went with ye princes of Balak.
36 Und Balak hörte, daß Bileam komme und er ging aus ihm entgegen bis Ir Moab, das an der Grenze Arnons, der am Ende der Grenze ist.
And when Balak heard that Balaam came, he went out to meete him vnto a citie of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, euen in the vtmost coast.
37 Und Balak sprach zu Bileam: Habe ich nicht zu dir gesandt, dich zu rufen? Warum bist du nicht zu mir gekommen? Vermag ich fürwahr nicht dich zu verherrlichen?
Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, Did I not sende for thee to call thee? Wherefore camest thou not vnto me? am I not able in deede to promote thee vnto honour?
38 Und Bileam sprach zu Balak: Siehe, ich bin zu dir gekommen, aber vermag ich jetzt irgend etwas zu reden? Das Wort, das Gott mir in den Mund legt, das muß ich reden.
And Balaam made answere vnto Balak, Lo, I am come vnto thee, and can I nowe say any thing at all? the worde that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speake.
39 Und Bileam ging mit Balak, und sie kamen gen Kirjath Chuzoth.
So Balaam went with Balak, and they came vnto the citie of Huzoth.
40 Und Balak opferte Rind und Kleinvieh und sandte nach Bileam und den Obersten, die mit ihm waren.
Then Balak offred bullockes, and sheepe, and sent thereof to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
41 Und am Morgen geschah es, daß Balak den Bileam nahm und ihn auf Bamoth-Baal hinaufbrachte und von dort sah er das Ende des Volkes.
And on the morowe Balak tooke Balaam, and brought him vp into the hie places of Baal, that thence hee might see the vtmost part of the people.
