4 Mose 21
1 Und der Kanaaniter, König von Arad, der gegen Mittag wohnte, hörte, daß Israel auf dem Wege der Kundschafter hereinkomme, und er stritt wider Israel und nahm etliche von ihm gefangen.
When King Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt toward the South, heard tel that Israel came by the way of the spies, then fought hee against Israel, and tooke of them prysoners.
2 Und Israel gelobte ein Gelübde dem Jehovah und sprach: Wenn Du dies Volk in meine Hand gibst, so will ich seine Städte bannen.
So Israel vowed a vowe vnto the Lord, and said, If thou wilt deliuer and giue this people into mine hand, then I wil vtterly destroy their cities.
3 Und Jehovah hörte auf die Stimme Israels und gab ihm den Kanaaniter, und er bannte sie und ihre Städte und nannte den Namen des Ortes Chormah.
And the Lord heard the voyce of Israel, and deliuered them the Canaanites: and they vtterly destroied them and their cities, and called ye name of the place Hormah.
4 Und vom Berge Hor brachen sie auf auf dem Wege nach dem Suph-Meer, um das Land Edoms zu umziehen, und die Seele des Volkes ward ungeduldig auf dem Wege.
After, they departed from the mount Hor by the way of the red Sea, to compasse the land of Edom: and the people were sore grieued because of the way.
5 Und das Volk redete wider Gott und wider Mose: Warum habt ihr uns aus Ägypten heraufgebracht, daß wir in der Wüste sterben? Wir haben kein Brot und kein Wasser, und unsere Seele hat Überdruß an dem leichten Brot.
And the people spake against God and against Moses, saying, Wherefore haue ye brought vs out of Egypt, to die in the wildernesse? for here is neither bread nor water, and our soule lotheth this light bread.
6 Und Jehovah sandte gegen das Volk die feurigen Schlangen und sie bissen das Volk, und viel Volks von Israel starb.
Wherefore the Lord sent fierie serpents among ye people, which stung the people: so that many of the people of Israel died.
7 Und das Volk kam zu Mose und sie sprachen: Wir haben gesündigt, daß wir wider Jehovah und wider dich geredet haben. Bete zu Jehovah, daß Er die Schlange von uns wegnehme. Und Mose betete für das Volk.
Therefore the people came to Moses and said, We haue sinned: for wee haue spoken against the Lord, and against thee: pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from vs: and Moses prayed for the people.
8 Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose: Mache dir eine Feuerschlange und setze sie auf ein Panier. Und es soll geschehen, daß jeder, der gebissen wird, und sieht sie an, der soll leben.
And the Lord said vnto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it vp for a signe, that as many as are bitten, may looke vpon it, and liue.
9 Und Mose machte eine eherne Schlange und setzte sie auf ein Panier, und es geschah, daß, wenn die Schlange einen Mann biß, und er auf die eherne Schlange blickte, er am Leben blieb.
So Moses made a serpent of brasse, and set it vp for a signe: and when a serpent had bitten a man, then he looked to the serpent of brasse, and liued.
10 Und die Söhne Israels brachen auf und lagerten in Oboth.
And ye children of Israel departed thence, and pitched in Oboth.
11 Und von Oboth brachen sie auf und lagerten in Ijje Abarim in der Wüste, die vor Moab gegen Aufgang der Sonne ist.
And they departed from Oboth, and pitched in lie-abarim, in the wildernesse, which is before Moab on the Eastside.
12 Von da brachen sie auf und lagerten im Bachtal Sared.
They remoued thence, and pitched vpon the riuer of Zared.
13 Von hier brachen sie auf und lagerten am Übergang des Arnon, der in der Wüste ist und aus der Grenze des Amoriters herauskommt; denn der Arnon ist die Grenze von Moab, ist zwischen Moab und zwischen dem Amoriter.
Thence they departed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wildernesse, and commeth out of the coasts of the Amorites: (for Arnon is the border of Moab, betweene the Moabites and the Amorites)
14 Darum sagt man im Buche der Kriege Jehovahs: Baheb in Suphah und die Bäche, der Arnon.
Wherefore it shall be spoken in the booke of the battels of the Lord, what thing he did in the red sea, and in the riuers of Arnon,
15 Und der Ausfluß der Bäche, der sich lenket dahin, wo man wohnt in Ar und sich lehnt an die Grenze von Moab.
And at the streame of the riuers that goeth downe to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth vpon the border of Moab.
16 Und von da nach Beer; dies das Beer, von dem Jehovah zu Mose sagte: Versammle das Volk, und Ich will ihnen Wasser geben.
And from thence they turned to Beer: the same is the well where the Lord said vnto Moses, Assemble the people, and I wil giue them water.
17 Damals sang Israel diesen Gesang: Steig auf, du Brunnen, antwortet über ihn.
Then Israel sang this song, Rise vp well, sing ye vnto it.
18 Den Brunnen, den gruben die Obersten, ihn höhlten des Volkes Edle aus durch den Gesetzgeber, mit ihren Stäben. - Und aus der Wüste nach Matthanah.
The princes digged this well, the captaines of the people digged it, euen the lawe giuer, with their staues. And from the wildernesse they came to Mattanah,
19 Und von Matthanah gen Nachaliel, und von Nachaliel nach Bamoth.
And from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth,
20 Und von Bamoth nach dem Tal, das im Gefilde von Moab ist, nach der Spitze des Pisgah hin und hinausschaut über die Angesichte des Wüstenlandes.
And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the plaine of Moab, to the top of Pisgah that looketh toward Ieshimon.
21 Und Israel sandte Boten zu Sichon, den König der Amoriter und sprach:
Then Israel sent messengers vnto Sihon, King of the Amorites, saying,
22 Laß mich durch dein Land durchziehen. Wir wollen nicht in Feld, noch in Weinberg ablenken, wollen nicht trinken das Wasser des Brunnens, sondern auf dem Königswege durchgehen, bis wir durch deine Grenze durchgezogen sind.
Let me goe through thy land: we wil not turne aside into the fieldes, nor into the vineyardes, neither drinke of the waters of ye welles: we will goe by the kings way, vntill we be past thy countrey.
23 Sichon aber gab nicht zu, daß Israel durch seine Grenze durchzöge; und Sichon sammelte all sein Volk und er ging aus, Israel entgegen nach der Wüste und kam bis Jahza, und stritt wider Israel.
But Sihon gaue Israel no licence to passe through his countrey, but Sihon assembled all his people, and went out against Israel into the wildernesse: and he came to Iahoz, and fought against Israel.
24 Israel aber schlug ihn mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und nahm sein Land ein vom Arnon bis an den Jabbok bis zu den Söhnen Ammons; denn stark war die Grenze der Söhne Ammons.
But Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and conquered his land, from Arnon vnto Iabok, euen vnto ye children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25 Und Israel nahm alle diese Städte, und Israel wohnte in allen Städten des Amoriters, in Cheschbon und allen ihren Töchtern,
And Israel tooke al these cities, and dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites in Heshbon and in all the villages thereof.
26 Denn Cheschbon war die Stadt Sichons, des Amoriterkönigs; und dieser hatte gestritten gegen den früheren König Moabs und ihm all sein Land bis zum Arnon aus seiner Hand genommen.
For Heshbon was the citie of Sihon the king of the Amorites, which had fought beforetime against the king of the Moabites, and had taken al his land out of his hand, euen vnto Arnon.
27 Darum sagen die Verkünder der Aussprüche: Kommet hinein nach Cheschbon! Aufgebauet und befestigt werde Sichons Stadt!
Wherefore they that speake in prouerbes, say, Come to Heshbon, let the citie of Sihon bee built and repaired:
28 Denn ein Feuer ging aus von Cheschbon, eine Flamme aus Sichons Stadt, sie fraß Ar Moab und die Bürger von Arnons Opferhöhen.
For a fire is gone out of Heshbon, and a flame from the citie of Sihon, and hath consumed Ar of the Moabites, and the lords of Bamoth in Arnon.
29 Wehe dir, Moab! Verloren bist du, Kamos Volk. Er gab seine Söhne, die Entkommenen, und seine Töchter in Gefangenschaft Sichon, dem Amoriterkönig.
Wo be to thee, Moab: O people of Chemosh, thou art vndone: he hath suffered his sonnes to be pursued, and his daughters to be in captiuitie to Sihon the king of the Amorites.
30 Und wir schossen sie nieder. Cheschbon ist verloren bis Dibon. Wir verwüsteten sie bis Nophach, das bis Medebah reicht.
Their empire also is lost from Heshbon vnto Dibon, and wee haue destroyed them vnto Nophah, which reacheth vnto Medeba.
31 Und Israel wohnte im Land der Amoriter.
Thus Israel dwelt in the lande of the Amorites.
32 Und Mose sandte nach Jaeser, es auszukundschaften, und sie eroberten dessen Töchter und trieben aus den Amoriter, der darin war.
And Moses sent to searche out Iaazer, and they tooke the townes belonging thereto, and rooted out the Amorites that were there.
33 Und sie wandten sich und zogen den Weg nach Baschan hinauf; und Og, der König von Baschan, ging aus, er und all sein Volk ihnen entgegen zum Streite nach Edrei.
And they turned and went vp toward Bashan: and Og the King of Bashan came out against them, hee, and all his people, to fight at Edrei.
34 Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihm; denn Ich habe ihn in deine Hand gegeben und all sein Volk und sein Land, und du sollst ihm tun, wie du Sichon, dem Amoriterkönige, getan, der in Cheschbon wohnte.
Then the Lord said vnto Moses, Feare him not: for I haue deliuered him into thine hand and all his people, and his land: and thou shalt do to him as thou diddest vnto Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
35 Und sie schlugen ihn und seine Söhne und all sein Volk, bis ihm kein Rest blieb, und nahmen sein Land ein.
They smote him therefore, and his sonnes, and all his people, vntill there was none left him: so they conquered his land.
